  • GUITAR IS GOOD -PLAYERS ARE NOOBS

  • @sukasraniy GUITAR IS CHOOB

  • @dkeenan7 Goo-goo-goo-choob.

  • what is the price ???

  • @CanalgameStorm Read the comments

  • No guarantees, but I'm working on getting the price down to $1500 (US or Australian).

  • how much does it cost to get make or watever how much ???

  • FAR from heavy metal. At the very least, I like your guitar

  • This sounds like someone after a week of playing with a $60 guitar trying to play Pantera - I'm Broken.

  • 'tis not heavy metal

  • about as heavy as iron maiden xD

  • Just let grampa play his little song and stop hate.

  • looks awesome, i would love to see this mass produced in the future :D

  • this guitar is not for metal.

  • worst guitar ever. it's just a fckin' toy and guitars aren't toys. -.-

  • @BadObsession908 yeah, it looks like a toy, but that doesn't mean it is a toy...

  • anyone else get here from emmure?

  • Lol what is that?

  • where can i get one?

  • I beg to differ. The dissonance at 0:09 is VERY possible on 12-fret-per-octave instrument. It's usually a sound made when people don't fret correctly or bend a note partially in a chord.

Freakin cool idea though! I'd like to see it used in a more typical microtonal setting with say, Indian music.

  • @Shinozoku You are quite right.

  • @Shinozoku i would like to see it used by someone who can play it a tad more proficiently.

  • nice guitar shit music

  • where is this instrument sold?

  • keep workin on it, id like to see that thing when you figure out how to build it so it is perfectly intonated. very interesting.

  • @chriswrigley It is perfectly intonated for 22-tone equal temperament which unfortunately sounds awful to most people. It was built for microtonalist (Carl Lumma). Figuring out how to play D A and E chords was as far as I got before I had to ship it to him. I'm working on the next one, which will be elliptical and in standard tuning.

  • @dkeenan7 true, besides if they actually knew that perfect pitches were modified so that when we go an octave higher it would make more sense for human ears. There's no such thing as perfect pitch nowadays; however, the temper of it is what makes it so awesome! KUDOS!

  • good god, that thing must be a nightmare to play

  • The guitar rules

    The human, not rules.

  • hahah the intro to freaks and geeks!

  • Fretboard cylindrical or flattened down? The small r would take adjusting to, though the unusual fret placement would be the biggest hurdle?

  • @CrazyFrazee1 This one is cylindrical. The next one will be elliptical and will have the usual 12 frets per octave. Its effective radius will be about 48 mm (a little flatter than a violin fingerboard) instead of the current 27.5 mm.

  • reminded me of some punk intro....

  • have you ever thought of using a real guitar?

  • @a7xrulze100 I've not only thought about it, I've done it many times. Sorry if the 22-tone tuning and the playing sounds like crap to many people. The point of this and the other two related videos is to display an unreal looking guitar that actually works.

  • @dkeenan7 but why not play somthing good at least...i can put strings on a trash can and call it a guitar....you playing 3 chords is barely anything im just saying if you wanted to wow people make the video more than 15 seconds long and maybe play a part of a song at least....also it didnt even look fun to play..it looked akward frustrating and impratical ...and it sounded terrible..how is that cool ...just because it lights up?

  • @dkeenan7 even know your right about it not sounding good and it being for display and making it work that'd be awesome if you made it sound really amazing

  • @a7xrulze100 Art for Art's sake.

  • @a7xrulze100 Which translates to, "My atrophied and narrowed mind translates innovation into falseness." Idiot, you have no valid reason for not thinking this is a real guitar. It functions exactly the same as any other electric guitar but you're too stupid to realize that.

  • weird look and ugly sound what do you want more? :D

  • that sounded horrible

  • so where can i get one an how much is one to ?

  • @zannadootothetenth At present they are custom made by hand, so too expensive for most people. We're trying to decide if it's worth automating part of the process. What's the most you might pay for one?

  • @dkeenan7 500-1000$ with different model maybe? :o and maybe different lighting effects on the frets?

  • @dkeenan7 1500? Depends what it's made of and how long it takes to make it compared to a contemporary boutique electric guitar of the standard every day variety.

  • What is the benefit of the quarter tones and so many frets?

  • @butterfingers59 Arguably, no benefit at all. It was made for a microtonalist (Carl Lumma) who wants to experiment with the 22-tone system (slightly bigger than quartertones). If you want to learn more about it, try googling Paul Erlich 22-tone.

  • @dkeenan7 I googled it. Sounds like he needs to tune his guitar.

  • Where can I get one of those?

  • not exsactly heavy metal is it

  • @keza56t You're right there, Obadiah, When I were a lad the only heavy metal we had was the Led in our Zeppelin.

  • @dkeenan7 That's nowt! When I were just a lil' tyke we had to work twenty 'hour in t' mine just to get a glimpse of metal!

  • @DelDubb Twenty hour'. You were looky. We 'ad to work 25 hour a day down t' mine and when we came 'ome our dad would thrash us til we went deep purple, or black on t' sabbath.

  • Nice guitar, bad playing

  • make me one plz@@@

  • cool, where did u buy that guitar, how much is that...

  • I want to buy one = ( Can you make me one~

  • Want, want, want, want.... want waaaaant.

  • Do you ever have problems with tuning that?

  • @Huqe No.

  • @dkeenan7 then tune it up! sounds like somethings gone awry there.

  • @Slaye012 It is tuned for 22 equally-spaced tones per octave, which sounds wrong, partly because we're so used to 12.

  • @dkeenan7 hmm.

  • interesting Metal, carbon fiber, and concrete? Never heard of that combo being used for a guitar heck I've never heard of concrete being used for any instrument before. Awesome looking though but how much does it way.

  • @40scars The concrete fills the lower quarter of the CF/epoxy tube. Total weight 1.3 kg, so about 1/3rd the weight of a Strat.

  • It's a good concept, however this needs to be refined by a luthier of expertise, also maybe add something bulky to give it warmth.

  • cool un like

  • nice light

  • can you make me one? i will pay

  • sry dude...but thats bullcrap!

  • not the best sounding thing but very cool to be sure! how did you make it?

  • sounds like shit,,seriously,if i had a guitar that sounded like that,,it would be smashed against the wall, horrible sounds thing

  • I got a capo idea for you, a round rubber/silicon ring that you can slide up and down the frets easily. even a livestrong bracelet or something :D

  • use a lobster claw elastic as a capo....

  • something tells me it's just a dildo with strings attached to it

  • if optimus prime know this, you are in a big problem buddy

  • @chemudle If you english knew, funnier comment buddy you have.

  • when does it get heavy before or after the arrow to the knee

  • I f it was on sale i'd order one :P

  • thats more hard rock

  • darth vader guitar

  • I have to say, that's one cool guitar.

  • looks more like hard rock :-P, it's ok

  • lol did you make that out of that tape next to you or something

  • This is Very intriguing. how is it done?

  • Optimus Prime wants his dick back

  • I like it! well-done ;)

  • ya....looks good......you call that metal? Im not impressed with it. I can build you a better sounding guitar out of a shoe box!!

  • oh... look... 70s "heavy" metal...

  • @MickMinor14 How can you be can be a fan of "heavy metal" if you cannot appreciate the greats, then you are quite ignorant to the genre, child you have slipknot on your profile, yet have the ordacity to say this isn't metal, get some Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, KISS, Guns n Roses, Led Zepplin, and Iron Maiden in your life

  • that looks like a guitar from a movie that was made in the early nineties, yet set in the "future". lmao

  • Looks very cool. Would be alot nicer if you knew how to play on it though

  • Cool, now tune it.

  • Very nice, i've read you stories, This is a Really nice piece even tho it doesnt sound so good, but the concept it there, it's a Guitar that's light and does light, and it's homemade, I really like it, wish my guitar would make light too ==

  • i have discovered time travle i have just seen the 22nd centuary guitar

  • i have a question too!! how do you put a capo in that?

  • @llryuuzakill Haven't figured that out yet. Needs a custom-made capo.

  • @dkeenan7 duct tape? lol

  • @Gameboss244 Duct tape as capo? ROFL. Great idea. Have you been watching Red Green?

  • @dkeenan7: If your woman can't find you handsome, she can at least find you handy!

  • @dkeenan7 oh yea haha. Btw great guitar man

  • @dkeenan7 Jubilee clip (Y)

  • @llryuuzakill Condom

  • @llryuuzakill You could probs use a rubber band, or a pony tail. Lawl.

  • lol thats the coolest fkn guitar iv seen +1 for guitar and +1 for heavy metal played upon it

  • so heavy.

  • it even doubles up as a bong and a nightlight....

  • Alien dildo

  • why all the dislikes? its a nice piece of work right there! :O

  • Dude you worked way to hard on that metal riff and not long enough on those pickups. sounds kinda basic but looks bad ass.

  • Alien's are probably laughing watching this..."Hey these stupid humans found one of our anal probes and thinks it's a guitar!!!" hahaha!!!LOLZ

  • now make it a bong

  • @twinkie12149 I've never seen a guitar-bong, but my friend owns a smoke shop that has a strat with a bowl piece next to the strap button and a tube that comes out the back where you hit it lol

  • WHERE IS THE HEAVY METAL!

  • congrats on making it, but it sounds and looks like ass. whoever asked for that made is dumb

  • did you make that, if not, where did you get one

  • @sighill1 Yes. I made it.

  • @dkeenan7 how did you make it?

  • @dkeenan7 Once or twice in a person's life... they have that multi million dollar idea... This sir is yours.

  • @dkeenan7 You liar, you said it was from an alien spacecraft

    xD

  • @sighill1 Very cool yes but they are missing out on the boat by not utilizing non metal strings that could be used like fiber optics and have a beam of light sent through them for a very cool glowing effect visually.

  • je la vueuuuuu

  • this looks really cool , watched your other video found this one , forced to comment lol

my main question is ... how do you tune the bitch ? looks sweet and doesn't sound too bad

  • @TheVampressKiss It has axial tuners at the bridge end, similar to a Steinberger, but you use a nut driver. A weak point I admit. For photos, go back to the Alein Electric Guitar video and click on the link in the "Show more" part of the description.

  • @dkeenan7 very cool

looks like a slight pain in the ass , but overall worth it :)

  • were can i get one

  • I'd like to hear someone actually play the thing for more than 15 seconds

  • @theroadbeckons See the other 2 videos of it on the same channel: "Alien Electric Guitar" and "What the hell am I doing here".

  • Sounds more like Hard Rock to me, due to the lack of palm muting, but nontheless nice one!

  • WTF? Poor "guitar"! You pick or you hoe? Heavy hoe, not heavy metal!

  • oh man too muck heavy metal.....plz stop i can't here so hard music.....hahhhahahahahah :P :P :P :P :P

  • Let the Finger hit the mute!

  • Maybe if would work better as a lap steel of sorts...

It looks good tho! Nice job.

  • pretty weirdbut creative guitar but it must be a bitch to play.

  • if that's heavy metal...i'm a duck

  • @prosteeze

i guess you are a duck, he's playing the main riff from "living after midnight" by judas priest.

  • @theeuprise dammit. my bad i'm a duck. doesn't sound too metal-y with that tone though. lol

  • two words: use wood

  • Bitches... Welcome... To the future.

  • AWESOME GUITAR!!!

  • pretty sure my mim sounds way better.

  • ... Sounds a bit out of tune...

  • lol love all the comments , but seriously if you are going to sell this thing you may want to have someone that can actually play the guitar to demo it , people would probably be more interested if it sounded ans good as it looks , that's my 2 cents Cheers!

  • @hanky2112 Might be tough. I can't think of any other guitar player I know that would be interested in playing something like that.

  • @MeatSmudge I'd wanna play that. I'm not a notable guitar player, but I play. And I'd love to have one those to bang around on! (no dildo puns, you trolls!)

  • @blahmcblahblah I'm a guitar tech and I sold guitars for years. Trust me, that's not a guitar that's going to appeal to very many players. The radius of the fretboard would make it all but impossible to play, as we can clearly see from the folks trying to play it.

  • @MeatSmudge I'm a tech guy--not guitar, electronics--and that's why it appeals to me. I'm not so gullible to believe it's alien tech, I'd just love to mess around with it, maze my friends and whatnot. So, it's the gadget freak in me that wants it.

  • @MeatSmudge The main reason we're having trouble is the fact that it has 22 frets to the octave instead of the usual 12. It's not even a multiple. Yes the tight radius makes some things harder to play, but it makes other things easier, e.g. barre chords and chords with "dont-play" strings on the top or bottom.

  • It looks like a basball bat. I'm glad I know how to play a guitar, now I need to take "Cylindrical Alien Electric Guitar" lessons.

  • Something tells me he can play guitar. I'm pretty sure if your guitar neck was a cylinder, you'd have some trouble too.

  • @DaveInVein then why build it it in the first place, the thing sounds and plays like shit..a toy store guitar would probably sound better. Collosal waste of fuckin' time.

  • @gl797

Correct me if I'm wrong but it's a little something called creativity. Most people (you being the exception) are given some amount of creativity and what they do with it is completely up to them. I'm pretty sure that anything that involves being creative is a "Collosal waste of fuckin' time" but if that was the case, there probably wouldn't be any toy store guitars or real ones for that matter. But you sound educated, your probably right.

  • @DaveInVein Thanks man..I thought that I might be but it's always good to have it confirmed by others though :-)

I could create a toilet seat that wiped your ass but if it only did half the job would it be useful?

I was planning on creating you a brain but that would be a collosal waste of time too since you won't use it correctly. Here's something for you to do today..figure out what this stands for > GFYS

  • @gl797 I'll check back in a month, by then the like/dislike bar should resemble a light saber. So............

  • @gl797

You are very welcome. Don't worry, years of drinking has reduced my brain to absolutely nothing so your probably right. But in the meantime, create a pill that would make (or at least create the illusion that) your life is meaningful. Or better yet, create a video diary to your children explaining to them how creating them was a waste of time since they probably won't amount to much anyways. But in their defense, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

  • sorry you cant play the guitar

  • Hello DKEENAN7, how can I get one, I lake your guitar is so very beatiful!!!!!

  • @TheCommonDeceit I never imagined anyone would take the "alien" thing seriously. I admit to building them, in comments to a related video. You're welcome to your opinion on the tone (I assume you have listened to the other two videos where distortion is turned off) but it really is being played as you see it. There is no other guitar. Any pick noise is from the "Choob" itself. It has twin piezo pickups. But it is a solid-body guitar. The lower quarter of the CF tube is filled with concrete.

  • \m/ ... but it sounds like your intonation is off man(either that or its out of tune) :D still...that thing looks kickass!!

  • @realmenwearpants well its the intonation, but is because this is a guitar with 22 equal-interval notes per octave
