Great music.  Whoi is it ? I wish I could see Virginia more then once a year. I get to see it for a day or two in August on the way to Duck. NC. I live in Rochester NY. Hey, Irene gave us waves on Lake Ontario. It was pretty cool.

The beggining sucked but it got better. the first 3 minutes or so are crap no surfing just walking on the beach. but the rest was good.

man its so funny how she walks for a minute were the good surfers r then she turns where the noob section is and tht fat guy on the long board trys to bend down to get into the tunnel on the smallest wave and fails. and btw too close to shore a.k.a boardshoring it

This video makes me want to laugh and cry at the same time. Unfortunately, this is what the jetty has become, a bunch of longboarders. Not many good longboarders either. Mostly ones that can just barely get to their feet and go down the line. Back in the 80's and 90's, these guys wouldn't have gotten many waves. They would have been heckled down the beach. Now it's a free for all, safeboard revolution surfspot.

@sk8tr5599 This was shot entirely at the first street jetty. I'd been learning how to shoot videos and this was the first time I'd ever shot surf video. Next time I'm gonna have a better idea of where to be and who to shoot and when. HAA! I'll also be shooting surfers at the pier and Croatan. Next time there's a decent swell I'll be down there. Look for me. I'm the old fat guy. HAA!

this is a sweet vid! would you say this is bigger surf in va beach? cuz i want to drive down cuz its my closest beach now and i was lookin at swell info but what is a good size for there?

@mattymyboy This was the swell that came in ahead of a tropical storm and is not "typical" of Virginia Beach. We have a variety of surf conditions but you can usually get some decent, well formed waves. Sometimes it's flat. Sometimes it's waist high. Sometimes more. The really nice part is that our surf spots are easy to get to and usually there is plenty of room in the lineup to enjoy yourself.

Very nice job on the 1st Street/Jetty video. We pulled an early morning dawn patrol there, that day, and after several hours of excellent, uncrowded surfing, the crowd showed up. Deciding to call it a day, I tagged a waist high(after watching the vid, I should have taken the second ) section in, and as I made it into shore, there SHE was... :)

I'm glad to have been there that morning. It was sort of an experiment that just happened to go very well. This year I plan to shoot a lot more video. Any time you hear that it's really going off - please let me know when you plan to be there.
