  • @RootsDaughter41926 your welcome dear ..stay well smiling too

  • sound quality is shit......

  • @scythian3 ...lol... so blunt, but hey can't argue with it.... this was one of my first uploads and i hadn't worked out sound problems back then...

  • i believe that bill robinson sang this song in a shirley temple film of the 30s

  • @jimk47 How would that be possible

  • @kara1464 The wonders of moving picture technology?

  • @jimk47 The song wasn't written until the 60s so would need more than moving picture technology.

  • @kara1464 apologies. i stand corrected.

  • When my father was in prison, I used to play this to make light of it.

We are very different. He led a colourful life, and he's none the worse apparently.

I think acab. Thuis music is beautiful.

  • The best.........smooth as silk.......he took bland originals and made them classics.

  • Jerry Jeff Walker wrote this song Copyright 1968 released it on his ATCO Recording Album titled Mr. Bojangles with a Picture of Jerry Jeff Walker standing in front of a Barn Door drawing. Originally released in Mono. Later released on "A Man Must Carry On" in stereo and Jerry tell the story of how he wrote this song. David Bromberg was with Jerry Jeff Walker on this Atco Album

  • check out this same song sung by mr holt live in london with the philharmonic....you will change your mind about the great mr john holt........this man is the last few remaining disciples of rocksteady/reggae music.........

  • im a white man but john holt is a BIG legend!

  • my nans tune godbless nan thinking of ya....x

  • i've been looking for this song 4 soooooo long!tnx :)

  • this song is not about Bill Bojangles Robinson but a man who went by the name Bojanles Jeff Walker came across. You can look up the Wikipedia entry "mr bojangles song"

  • @gonehome1433 Hi, yes you are not wrong there, but when Sammy Davis Jr. covered the song it was in remembrance of Bill Bojangles Robinson - that's probably why the song is attached to him because most know Sammy Davis rendition, even I was corrected in learning he didn't write it but as you have stated Jeff Walker.

Thanks for sharing the info anyway :-)

  • super.....the sound is unuque.....hard to do do this kind of sound on our times

  • Every single version of Mr Bojangles is amazing. Jerry Jeff, John Holt, Nina Simone, Robbie Williams, Sammy Davis Jr, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. I've spent the last two hours just cycling through every version I can find.

  • This is the only version. John Holt took songs murdered by the original artists and gave them life, money and fame.

You can take your lady gaga and your justin beiber and go fck yourself.

  • Hi Guys I am a 66years old Honky & i own a perfect vinyl record of One Thousand Volts of Holt which I bought in Dominica in 1973 when this record was produced ( the date is printed on the record ) John Holt always covered & superbly to me - listen to Killling me softly or Help me make it thro the night (Kristofferson). Also have Neil Diamond's LP "Touching you touching me"printed in 1969 with M.Bojangles attributed to Jerry Jeff Walker.Guys please do not argue - life is much too short !!!!

  • wot an all tym tune... !!!! class !!!! <3 <3

  • Just listen to Jerry Jeff man, one of the greatest songwriters!

  • cant wait till tonight i going to see him live @ wolvo civic hall

  • whoever dislikes this is a cunt, seriously thats a fuckin brilliant song

  • No way...if this is the original owner of the wrighter...fantastic!

  • @rickstonesvids ... hold your manners... it's not "dude" but Mr Holt to you...

  • fantastico

  • @ the picture DERP

@the song why is it so soft, still an awesome track tough.

  • this album is just one long hymn to joy

  • Just getting my love, soul and peace fix........

What a wonderful world! Love and peace to mankind eh!

  • Has any person in history had a more beautiful obituary?

  • Original? No, Jeff Walker wrote the original.

  • @TrollFredrik ...actually "original" refers to the original recording/vinyl of Mr Holt's rendition... but you did teach me something new as I always thought Sammy Davis Jr was the originator of Mr Bojangles...

  • FOR ALL THE LOVE THIS SONG IS GETTING, WHO ARE THE JOKERS WITH THEIR THUMBS downs,HO I KNOW WHO THEY ARE, LET ME TELL YOU, THEY FROM MARS, THEY WALK ON THEIR EARSRRS

  • @guiana1000 ... in all fairness to those who thumbs down, I suspect it's because the sound quality is so poor. When I first uploaded this I had volume issues which I've now fixed... so I should really re-upload it as this...

  • who was the pianist on this marvellous recording?

John Holt was always the new Sinatra

as for the song, it's like a Mark Twayne story set to the blues - a real echo of an older storytelling culture

  • @8269998 .. I checked the back of the album for you thinking it would have a list of musicians.. but sadly no... so sorry I don't know who the pianist is... but should you find out in the meantime... come back and let me know... :-)
