  • There is nothing worse than emetophobia. You can run away from a spider or go on a road trip if you hate flying, but this phobia never leaves you, not for a second.

  • Emetophobia is in my opinion the worst possible phobia. Why I say this is because it can easily bleed and lead to other phobias. I started out with emetophobia, but then I started to get sea sick one time and now I have a fear of boats. Then flying caused nausea which lead to a fear of flying and heights. It bleeds so easily and cause many more phobias since many things can easily cause nausea, this is why I say of all phobias, this one is the most parasitic and worst

  • I thought I was the only one that has this fear.

  • Everytime I vomit I remember the exact time and date :/

  • Natalie is a brilliant communicator about this phobia. I love how she describes about functioning normally on the outside but inside she is distressed. The therapist was patronising and I don't think that exposure therapy is the way to help with this particular problem. This is a far deeper more consuming phobia than that of spiders or heights.

  • I can't stand the sight or sound of puke or someone puking and when I witness it I feel anxious and like I'm about to vomit myself and so I try to leave the area asap. however I don't dread the possibility of anyone vomiting every day so I'm not sure if that qualifies as emetophobia or not xP

  • @XtoxicXcookieXdoughX It definitely can be emetophobia, just less severe!

  • @AsiaNeko

    Ooh, ok. Thanks ^_^

  • @XtoxicXcookieXdoughX You're the same as me.

I also have nightmares about vomit Dx

  • I have had this phobia my whole life . No one understands how terriable it really is. Im 18 and it seems this stupid fear is getting worse each year. Every night i dont not sleep because the fear of being sick. If my family members are sick I will starve myself for the week and be in panic. If i have the slightest stomach ache i start shaking and get panic attacks like its the end of the world or something .

I have no clue why I have this fear and have no clue how to stop it .

  • I have this phobia, and every day I feel nauseous. More than anything I hate the nausea, even if I know there is nothing wrong with me I still get myself in a state about it. I opened a blog about it with a few things I do to help myself feel better, plus I shared my story there if anyone would be interested in seeing it. Always remember we are in this together, you are never alone <3

    mybattlewithemetophobia[dot]wordpress[dot]com/

  • You are not alone folks, always remember that when you are feeling bad. I have had this for years and people who do not have this fear don't understand that we would rather be shot than have nausea and vomiting!

  • @amyanubis lol literaly i would rather die or be shot!

  • blergghh i have this too...its horrible, i cant enjoy myself because all i do is think about it, like eating out, going out with friends, going to the cinema, i dont drink alcohol because i dont want to get drunk and throw up (and im a bloody student!) i always check my sell by dates and best before dates, and i dont like ordering most sea food at restaurants incase of food poisoning, and i had a breakdown outside my house coz there was a bug going around my family...fun times!

  • My gosh this sounds so familiar... so good to know that there are other people out there with the same issue. The stigma attached to this is unbelievable. This woman was so brave talking about this so openly.

  • I have this phobia but I was sick on the day of one of my exams as I got a bug turned out two of my friends have the same phobia as me. I don't have it as bad as most people I only get panicy when I feel sick in enclosed places such as on a plane. But I'm fine going out and eating out. Being sick helped me with my fear tbh :)

  • I have this, and it's terrible! I went to a carnival with my friend but couldn't enjoy any of the rides because I was terrified I would get sick or someone else would!

  • i get the piss taking out me at school just because i have this one phobia of course i dont want be always looking looking behind my back for the rest of my life it a horrble phobia and im sure most of the people who have emetophobiajust because i have this phobia doest mean and wired or stange and also it doest give people the permisson to make fun of me ive been in tear just because people fellowing making sick noises well i said enough thumbs up if you want people to be aware of fear sick

  • I'm so glad there's been more stuff on tv about emetophobia recently, I really hope it'll help people to be more understanding! I know it's hard for a non-phobic person to accept that people can feel like this but people can be really ignorant and inconsiderate sometimes :(

  • I'm very proud to have emetophobia, because I freaking hate puke.

  • anybody with Emetophobia pass out before they were sick ?

  • @Moply

    Several times to me...

  • @1finallygotunleashed I have also passed out a few times before (doing the thing) I dont really feel like it gets so much in the way of my life in the same way as this woman but i do get teriffied when i feel ill it really impacts me. and often I will passout. people do laugh at me about it but to me its a very serious situation. its kind of a relife that im not the only person that feels this way! thank you all

  • @Moply

believe me, this is hard for everyone who have it.... You can't be emetophobic while being the same person you were beforeh... Trust me, when I reflect on all these times when I would go and have fun and eat everything I could and not have a single worry in my life, and now I'm here, searching 24/7 for a salvation, a solution... Makes you think..

  • I used to have this as a kid... I kinda cured myself when I started drinking all the time. I realized that even though it's uncomfortable, it's just a natural function of the human body and there's no reason to fear it.

  • I cannot watch this discussion without getting really anxious! AND I would never tell ANYONE how long I haven't been sick for - such a touch wood moment! :-/

Also, FT all doctors who have told us that "it's not life affecting"

  • Whenever I get into a situation when I think, "What would happen if I threw up right now." Or I get into any situation where people often get nauseous, I get nauseous(boats, planes). It started with working out. One day I was working out too hard and threw up, now every time I work out, I feel nauseous and feel like I'm going to barf. I really wanna play football this year without problems. If anyone can get me some tips on how to stop this, I'd appreciate it. I'll give you more info if needed.

  • Stop saying "throw up" !!! :D

  • AHHH my sister has this! Wow I can't wait to show this to her because she always has felt so alone with this! It's so life controlling...it's gotten to the point where she had been diagnosed w/ anorexia :/

  • ive had this phobia for years now and everyones like "well no one likes barfing". yeah i get that, but it consumes my life. i have to stay away from my friends when they are sick because i think might catch something and barf. im even afraid to try new resturaunts at the fear of getting food poisoning and barfing. so much more...glad im not alone

  • @PattyCizzakes i couldnt agree with you more

  • @Keelaahh God, I know right?! Isn't it terrible?

There's a pic of something like vomit in the suggestions and it's making me uncomfortable T^T

  • I also have this phobia. No one here is alone, for sure. It's incredibly debilitating and like this lady says, we know how irrational it is but just can't get past it. I'm seriously ready to just get over it. Hopefully I can. =/

  • I got this fear out of a trauma as a child. :/ No one here is alone bros.

  • I'm more afraid of seeing someone else vomit, it's like my ultimate fear. I'm even scared by fake vomit.

  • im 15 i have this fear /: it feels like no one understands

  • @StainedPink1 same

  • @StainedPink1

Same age and story for me... Now im in psychological treatment. It's been several months, but almost nothing's changed... Sucks to be me... Absolutely

  • Oh god!! I have this exact fear and have done really ever since I can remember. It annoys me ( and I can see it annoys all you guys) when people say "well no one likes being sick." trust me I hear this all the time and have done for years! But for people with emetophobia being sick is not just " oh god I'm gonna be sick" it's much worse and can effect them greatly. I can't bear the thought of being sick i literally panic when someone's sick near me or says they feel nauseas. Just writing about

  • Oh man, if someone jokes about the fact that they feel sick, but I don't know it, and we're in class, I will get up and move seats. It freaks me out so badly. I don't know how to deal with it in case it happens in the future. Meh.

  • omg i have this fear : (

  • I can never eat at places like sporting events or food people i dont know (like.a friends family)

  • I'm nervous to go out to eat because I'm afraid of that feeling before you throw up. I don't even eat half of a sandwich at school. And if you're ervous about getting the feeling, it makes you think you're getting the feeling, even when you're really not.

  • Thumbs up if you've told someone about your phobia and they say "well, nobody likes being sick"

  • @nobodyhj

My 15 year old daughter hears that same exact reaction ALL THE TIME!

  • @nobodyhj every fuckin time. no one likes to throw up, they say

  • @nobodyhj Exactly..

  • Also, I know what you mean @ running away when you think someone is about to barf. in my drinking days I would get AWAY from other drunk people if they seemed even close to being sick, And planes! Ugh. But just remember, noone likes to get sick and people do it much less than you think. Andd once again it will get better over time

  • i used to have this fear. I used to drink a lot but would never ever get sick like normal people, just get really intoxicated and black out. My fear started @ 5 y.o. and was manageable at around 25. I know mine started because the very first time I ever got sick was traumatic; not just the thing itself but the surroundings ( I was in daycare around other sick kids and a really mean babysitter). Mine got better over time & yours will too. And hopefully a funny friend tells a funny story @ it!

  • at least im not the only one who has a phobia of sick

  • this is amazing i feel exacty th same as this !! it started when i was about 10 when my mum was out with friends and it was my dad and me and my brother and i was sick just thinking about it now makes me shakey!! i can remember i wouldnt wear the same nighty for a couple of years and never stood in th same place where i was sick! but it makes me feel so much better to know it is an actual phobia!!

  • @RosettaTV

hi Rosetta , im so glad i have found somebody just like me , I can't even mention the s**k word and it is a struggle to read it , I have had this phobia since i was 8 , how old r u ? please answer , please please !

  • if you do not already belong to

the international emetophobia society, you should join.

this is an amazing website with people just like me. Caring people that want to know what your feeling. This site has helped me through so many bad days and i hope i have also help people through there bad days.

become a member and work towards your recovery one day at a time.

  • i'm 14 and i have had emet as long as i remember. It certainly is no joke. 30% of sufferers commit suicide. i hate this phobia.

  • @wolfgirl2ful

I am also 14 wolfgirl2ful , it is definatly not a joke , it is very scarry i can't even say the s**k word , how about you? , when i tell people the answer is always WHAT or "well nobody likes being s**k . please answer!!

  • @MermaidTail1 Yeah i HATE that word! and its so annoying because the reactions people have are totally messed up! sure, no one likes being sick, but to an emet, its the end of the world!! it affects every aspect of our life! its not fair at all

  • @MermaidTail1 im having this to since i can remember ! I Im 16 and didnt puke since i was 7. Im knocking very hard on my desk while saying that. Im to dead of throwing up, when i just talk about it, my hands become sweaty, i feel dizzy, my heartbeat rises and i become shaky. Its hard for me to talk about it, sometimes i dont even admit the fact that i have this .. I thought i was the only one, but im gladd im not! i would love to talk to you about this, maybe we could help eachother ! x

  • Vomit is disgusting, true, but with emetophobia, it's an extreme fear of it. I'm 18 and ever since I was 8, I had a fear of vomiting and still do. I hadn't thrown up since I was 11, but there are times I feel like it might happen to me someday. I get anxious when I have a stomache and there have been times where I go days without eating because I imagine how disgusting all that food will look inside of me. When I see people throwing up, I feel like I'm going to have a heart attack.

  • I'm 12 years old. A few months ago i started to randomly have nights where i felt nauseos and I'd sit by the toliet for hours crying and shaking. Now every day during school and at home I'm terrified of throwing up and ALWAYS feel nauseous. I'm already really skinny and now im afraid to eat, I can't concentrate in school and I'm really depressed.

  • Ugh, the presenter really doesn't know much about emetophobia - imitating vomiting, what a brilliant idea.

  • I have emetophobia and it's taking over my life, I want to try for a baby , but the fear of morning sickness puts me off :'/

  • @TheMusicLovesLyrics I really hope you are able overcome this soon, so your wish of having a child can come true!

  • I would honestly rather commit suicide than vomit.

  • I hate emetophobia although mines weird I''m not afraid of myself being sick probably cuz i dont think its possible since i havent been sick since i was 4 or 5 and i'm 17 now but I'm afraid other people being sick and me being in a contained location with them no mattter how large the carrot joke though thats true but its not actually carrots its the lining of the persons stomach or something which is almost even worse

  • oh dear i do everything she does. apart from i carry a bag instead of a bowl.

  • i used to have emetophobia.. took over my life.. it started when I was 5. I'm 14 now and over it (: it feels reaaaallly good..

  • wow i am just exactly like this i have had it since i was 4 or 5 years old and i am now 17 its completely controls my life, ppl think its nothing or attention seeking i would do anything in the world not to feel like this, like many other people and how is that attention seeking

  • Finally, there is someone who is just like me. This fear is getting worse for me day to day and I am sick of it. I last got sick in January. Before that I hadn't thrown up within two to three years. I am afraid to eat sometimes because there is always that possibility of vomiting that I am afraid of. I know it's all in my head and I just want help. I won't eat until I'm full anymore because of my fear. If anyone knows any good ways to confront this fear, please message me.

  • I think that the phobia can be a complication due to initial food sensitivities such as sulpites, msg, artificial colors or botulism.

  • I have emetophobia and am trying to beat it using CBT. I've created a survey (suggested by my therapist) to find out what people think about vomiting. Please try my survey. PM me and I'll send you a link. Thanks

  • @jackhaylett could you please send me the survey please. Ithink i have this phobia, i did not know til recently it was a registered phobia to be honest. im not as bad as this person on this morning, but it is pretty bad.

  • My phobia has ruined my life, everything makes me anxious, if I'm in a situation that's hard to escape from the fear kicks in.

I am prone to stomach aches and acid reflux unfortunately, so I get panic attacks quite often because I'm convinced I'm going be sick, I haven't since I was 9 and I'm 17 now and I feel like my whole life is one big countdown.

Anyway I shall shut up now because reading these comments is making me feel weird :(

  • @AbsolutelyCrackers i know EXACTLY how you feel about the countdown :( but I recently realized...its the worrying that is worse feeling than the getting sick. I still haven't been sick since i was 9, and I am now in my mid twenties and i've spent most of my life thinking and worrying about it. I am so sorry :( ,3

  • if there is any one like me please call me and help me get over it 4226657

  • im 12 and i had it since 1st grade

  • it is the 5th most common phobia, so quite allot of people have it, i dont like being sick either

  • ive got this fear too. i hate being sick and i hate other people being sick cos it makes me feel sick. i wish i could get rid of this stupid phobia. cos everybody else thinks your being pathetic.

  • I have this phobia as well. I'm 15 and i've had it since 3rd grade. I had to be homeschooled because of the frequent thoughts of getting sick at school. I would cry everyday because I was so scared. my boyfriend is wanting me to go to the homecoming dance with him next week and I was going to make up an excuse saying that I can't go. But, I'm not going to let this phobia take over my life. [: I just really hope I don't freak out and have a panic attack. Ahh, wish me luck!

  • I have had this phobia rly bad all my life I always worry before doing normal things and whenever I gotta do something normal the first thing that comes to mind is I hope I'm not gonna be sick honestly I wud rather die then vomit

  • I'm 13 I've had it since 2nd grade if I vomit I won't eat any of the things I ate that day ever agian

  • Eamon's a bit of a douche by asking "Do you think it's going to kill you or something?" I have Emetophobia and havent been sick since I was 7 years old.

I'm 20 now and to me, it feels like the worst thing in the world I could possibly do. I would rather eat a spider. People just don't seem to understand.

  • i've had this since second grade, i start shaking and i freeze, over all if somebody gets sick,i just want to get away...

  • Oh my God, she has to always have the windows open in the car as a passenger?? I'm the same exact way - if I don't, I get nauseous and fear the thought of vomiting. I had no clue that was part of a phobia...Plus, I also can't sleep with out a fan facing me, or I'll feel sick...wow...ugh I feel sick listening to this.

  • I have the same problem... I never throw up, the times I have thrown up it is terrifying. I don't have any kids cause I'm afraid of children vomiting. I cry when I see someone throw up, I shake, and I can't go on long trips with people who get car sick cause I'll be uneasy during the whole ride...I wish it would go away...

  • This is my phobia.

  • I've got this :(

  • i used to have a mild fear of vomiting... i mean i was never seriously phobic, my life was not altered by this,

but then i had two children, and had morning sickness with both of them...

and of course my kids have had tummy bugs, diarrohea type things...

    and now i am cured!!lol

  • @hematitecrow how did you get cured? I have the exact same problem. My friends and teachers always worry about me because I am so thin. I get stomach aches every day because I always get so anxious when I eat. I've had this fear for 12 years but it suddenly got worse for the past year. I went to the doctor to get checked for an ulcer because I was hurting so bad. I bought the Emetophobia Recovery System, but I've only had it for a week and I don't really feel better.

  • I have emetophobia, and it starting to ruin my life. I have my first MMA fight coming up and i am TERRIFIED that i will throw up. And idk sometimes it's like i'd rather throw up than HEAR someone else do it. I haaaate the noise. Godal wkfjwaoi ugh it's killing me.

  • @STACEYLOvesBILLY ii have this problem i went to the doctors a few years bak and he said i have this , i cant go anywhere without the first thing thinking what if i throw up , or eating oUT What if i gt food poisining

  • @Gingog same here :/ it really sucks. But sometimes it bothers me more than otherS. But if someone like coughs more than once i'm like OHMYGOD DON'T PUKE ON MEEE D:

  • @STACEYLOvesBILLY ikr , if im sitting in a car or somthing and sum1 is coughing i think omg there gunna puke then i plan what id do in my head if they did when i have exams at school i gt worried about feeling sick n being itfront of every 1 so i have to plan ahead and not eat nothing

  • @Gingog i HATE traveling for that reason. Like i have it so bad i think about jumping out of moving vehicles if someone pukes. It's horrible. I hate how i can't do anything or go anywhere without thinking about someone or me puking. I have to know how to get out of every situation and i have to be in control over it or i hate it :/

  • lol vomiting is fun

    jk

  • I have emotophobia. All my friends always are carefull around me and try not to joke about it.This one kid who is really mean knows i have it and always makes those sounds around me.I use to have panick attacks from and but I only have them rarley now.Any advice about of how to stop the fear?

  • @caitybird99 Therapy, though I need it too, the last time I did that I ran to the er because I thought I was dieing. If feels silly a bit on the outside, you think seriously? But in that moment it is horrid.

  • @caitybird99 dude same here! Everyone like gags around me and i completely flip out.

  • I had emetophobia for almost ten years, but I got it cured and it's finally out of my life!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I starved myself because I was so afraid of vomiting and became so skinny that everyone thought I was anorexic.

2008 jaja.

    Atte: 10 years with emetophobia.

  • I have emetophobia. It is so bad. Whenever someone around me starts coughing a lot, or has a fever, or says they have a stomach ache, I freak out. I try so hard to move as far from them as possibile and start having a little freak out session myself. And when I feel nauseous, I get so scared. In my head, I'll be like "DON'T PUKE!! DON'T PUKE!!" It's somthing completely uncontrollable that I have been trying to overcome and failed at so far. People with this phobia, I wish you the best of luck.

  • it sucks having it......i know.

  • I've had this my entire life, although my earliest clear memory was 1st grade. I'm now in 9th. If I'm in public and hear a sound that sounds like someone is sick, even if it's just a rough cough, my heart rate increases. If someone says their stomach hurts, I feel the need to run away. When I feel like, I cry and sob and feel utterly helpless. I can't even watch cartoons or pretend vomiting without breathing heavily and looking away. Thankfully, my friends understand and don't make fun.

  • @xStandingxStillx same here, totally same here. I'm sick right now and as you surely understand I'm very afraid....T^T

  • @Draculawow You poor thing. ): *hug* I hope you get better soon. I wish they could create some sort of remedy for stomach viruses and food poisoning... I know being sick is how toxins leave the body, but if our medical science has gotten this far, why can't something for us emetophobes be created?

  • I have emetophobia. I am always scared in stupid things. I have had it for 5 years. LUCKY! 16 years without puking! I analyse everything and I am usually sick once every 3 years... it's been 2 years now and I always remember what dates I was sick... 3rd May 2005... 24th October 2008...

  • it's so horrible having this. i cant hear or smell anybody throwing up because ill feel like throwing up too. My fear is that when i throw up i will smell it or look at it and keep throwing up. i threw up a year ago because i took a pill without taking food first. i got so scared when i felt it coming up my throat.

  • I feel the same way, but I'm also scared of seeing other people vomit. I get nervous and then my own stomach hurts, its horrible. i can't stand to see, hear, or smell vomit. when I throw up, i close my eyes, try not hear, or smell, that's how bad it is. Does anyone else feel this way?

  • U wont believe how bad it is in exams! ruining my life. i used to be getting A's not ma grades are dropping because i cannot concentrate because of this constant feeling of being sick in front of everyone. at first i thought i was my diet so i started to eat more healthy and i heard exercise helped with anxiety... it didnt work. ( got alot healthier though :P ) but i think im just gonna hav to struggle tbh.

  • this is what i go though.. it really sucks.. in school the teachers have to watch me.. I've had it since i was in 4th grade &; now i'm in 9th &: it has gotten way worse.. My family don't believe in all this stuff so i can't have help because my parents think its for attention. I don't eat much because i'm scared.. i'm just glad that i'm not alone..

  • This lady.. my God, my mind is blown. This lady might as well be me... I'm really not alone..

  • when i was in 4th grade i got a small food poisoning, i had upset stomach and got sick that night in the car. I had a field trip the next day. SO after that i became very afraid of it, i had to go to the hospital once for a anxiety attack. But as time passed i got alot better. I forgot about vomiting after a few years, i went to two camps for 1 week each and nothing happend. I got a stomach bug a month ago, and threw up alot outside at my cousins house. It was great, nothing like i expected

  • when i was 5 i vomited and i was somehow very traumatized. Last december i threw up for the first time since i was 5. I am 12. My phobia has basically returned since i threw up that night. Its unberrable and i just am so distraught because i mean why does it have to be me to suffer this phobia. It is a horrible phobia.

  • I have emetophobia. But I'm not afraid of myself throwing up. I haven't thrown up for 12 years. I'm afraid of other people throwing up and me being in their presence.

  • @sexysalsa67 i am the same, i have looked at a lot of websites and they seem to direct more towards the actual sufferer being sick than the fear of being near someone else being sick :/

  • i still get scared when i feel sick though sometimes

  • i used to be the same way for years when i had problems with panic attacks. then i puked in front of the hospital when i had a migraine and it went away .its weird. i guess i saw how no one cared, so i realized its normal to be sick and out of control sometimes

  • Oh dear..I am the same way..My sister was ill the other day throwing up...and I am nervous about being around it, and fear that I too will get sick and vomit.

  • I think I may have that also. I'm absolutely terrified of vomit itself.

  • ...also is there anyone else out there who literally checks the time to see if they have food poisoning? I know the human body is supposed to respond within 4-6 hours so right out 4 hours I do notice a huge relief. As though I can "start over". I am mostly horrified of how ppl talk of food poisoning. They don't mind throwing up and they even say they'd rather die. ughhhh no thankyou.

  • I am so happy to see that I am not alone. Not that I would wish this upon my worst enemy but you just start to feel so strange and alone. I worry alot about vomiting esp. from eating bad foods. This is horrifying! I deal okay until i get over anxious and over think something that probably won't happen. I just don't know what to do. I have been going to a counselor and she helps but I'm far from okay with it. I would rather die. Period. Any suggestions of how to move on?? I'm so over this

  • Same here! i am really afraid of seeing other people vomit or vomiting myself! i am especially afraid of vomit in movies and i know it is not real but for some reason i am scared. there is no point in having vomit in movies and even if there was vomit in a movie it should at least say it before the movie starts e.g. if a movie had language young people can't watch it. it is the same with us. it is tippical why don't say it! fuck people who work for movies!!!!

  • im freaked out of other people barfing. i cant handle the smell or the sound. disgusting.

  • i tried an emetophobia therapy book online and it changed my life. i felt sick everyday, never actually got sick, but was afraid of getting sick. it can be cured! we can all live a normal life! and you're not alone! we all have to stick together and we can overcome this! good luck and i will say a prayer for all of you everyday.

  • im severly emetophobic as well, ive been fighting it for several years now. I'm scared shitless of ever having to partake in the act-however it is slightly calming that I have a partner who told me "If you need me to, I can hold your hand while you do it-it doesn't bother me. I could eat chicken and watch you do it" Finding a significant other who can handle v***t is super important

  • Agree! My boyfriend of 6-7 years knows this about me and is so supportive and has no problem with being sick. Me=OPPOSITE. I feel bad for having panic attacks randomly over it but he promises to be there if i am sick. I would kill for such a laid back approach when it comes to vomiting. I think i'm mostly afraid of food poisoning and not being able to stop, UGGggghhh no one should go through this. God bless and good luck.

  • I wished that i could grant one wish..and wish this terrible thing away from me and everyone who has to suffer like this,. being scared all he time is killing my life, but I will never stop fighting it. and all of you should fight too. don't let your life be a waste.

  • Lucia la morenita im 46 i have this since i remember, I puke when i was 12 , and ive been scared ever since, Ive been controling this forever until last week, i got sick , and i did everything possible not to , but it happened . I puk...... all over the bathroom. It was very scary. Im using my sons e mail i dont know if u can get in contact with me. im a female.

  • I am so sorry that you had to experience that. I will do anything to avoid it to. Its okay though. God is with you and everyone gets sick. No one dies. Did you feel that you fear it any less after getting sick? I think the out of control (how you said all of the bathroom) is probably the scary part if we all think about it. We are not alone. We are biologically made to get rid of toxins but it is still horrifying. breathe and know you are not alone.Keep working to make this life worth living!:)

  • Takes over your life just want to feel normal :(

  • I have a pretty bad case of emetophobia.

I've had stomach problems all my life, and it's gotten to the point where I was starting to panic just hearing them in thie video having that conversation.

It's really awful, I mean, if the alternative is DEATH, yeah i'd consider it. Anything less than that, there's no way you're getting anything out of my stomach. Ever. The biggest problem is that i'll get anxious, which results in stomach pain, which will only make my fear worse. it's a vicious cycle.

  • I've just uploaded my video onto youtube, hypnoanalysis will help you.

    Good Luck Gary

  • Wow look at that.

    Saw the video.

    It doesn't help at all.

    Thanks.

  • Click, click, click, click, click, click, click, click. That sound just makes me want to punch someone.

  • the reason why nobody understands it because the people who have it come off as self centered

  • ... for anxiety. I've been okay, but then, I only went on it this summer and I haven't been in contact with much puke or germs.

  • Ugh, I wish it were the same for me. I have emetophobia to a pretty high extent. I get anxiety over it really bad. My friend just got the stomach flue (two days ago) and he sits behind me in class. I am pretty afraid of whats going to happen. Can someone help me?

  • I don't know what to do either. :/ There's a stomach bug going around where I work and I've been pretty worried about it. I HATE that thing.

  • yeah I know how you feel. I really hope I don't get it, but if I do, its going to be horrible!

  • I have this too... Had it for a couple years. I find myself always keeping tabs on people at work and school to see if they're getting sick. If someone starts getting sick, I have to get away. What's worst is when someone in my family has it and I feel like I can't escape the sound and germs. I have panic attacks when I find out that I've come into contact with germs of people that have a stomach bug, or when I feel like I'm going to be sick. Those attacks got so bad that I went on medication.

  • stangofox i have exectly the years and everything the same...weird. ama try this thing, my doctor is mean

  • People don't know what it's like to see someone getting sick and to have heart palpitations and to have to leave the room or else you'll have a full blown panic attack

my friends laugh at me when I say I am scared of vomit but they don't realize how serious it is for me

  • Omg im so glad this has a name now, i amm so scared of the word sick and if anyone is sick in my house i have to sleep out or i cant go near anyone hu is gna b sick. i even got sacked from my job cause i refused to clean up sum1s sick!!!

  • Because of Emetophobia, i no longer want to eat or be around people who say they have a stomach ache

  • ive just found out my fear actually has a name! i tohught i was just weird for having it although mines not as extreme as some i have a fear of seeing sick, having to smell it, throwing up, being near it, being with someone who has drank and could possibly throw up,and hearing someone throwing up i havnt thrown up now since i was 8 now im almost 20 does anyone want to talk would be nice to talk to someone with the same fear as me since you know what its like

  • thats exactly how I am, I used to find going to parties terrifying incase someone was sick

I'm getting more used to it now...

  • i have this too, and it has really destroyed my whole life. i cant be with people, i cant eat outside my home/ive cooked it myself and such, i feel sick all the time and when it gets really bad i just lay in bed, shaking and crying. this phobia is really horrible ._.

  • I'm emetophobic. lol Haven't thrown up in..... 7 years? I remember it used to be so bad I wouldn't leave the house... I nearly failed 2 years of school because of it >:( I always thought I was going to be sick.

I'm getting better now! I can hear the noise and see people throw up without getting too scared!! But when I feel sick, my vision blacks out, I shake all over and can't stop... that's what really scares me still.

  • I'm just wondering... has anyone (with emetophobia) drank before? I want to know what it feels like to an emetophobic to know what it's like to drink.

  • Yes I drink but ive never been drunk i only drink light things like you know alco-pops

  • i drink too but not very often. at first i used to avoid alcohol and then strictly controlled my drinking (still i control but less). little by little i noticed that i can stand a lot of alcohol without being sick. somehow i forget my phobia while being drunk but when the (dont know the word in english so freely translated) "decreasing drunkennes" begins i sometimes get anxious as well as in hangover. i also have to say that i think drinking is not the right way get over this/face the phobia.

  • ive had emet for about 1 year or 2 its horrible :( i feel sick everyday with worry which makes me feel more sick then panick more.

like a viicous circle really, some people really dont understand how horrible this phobia is , & i feel sorry for everyone else who has it :(. stay strong everyone xx

  • I know how you must feel. I went through what you're going through too. The fear will die down a bit over the years, but for now, think positive thoughts. Tell yourself you won't throw up, and if you get scared, talk to someone! ^_^

If you feel brave, try watching a video of someone throw up. Exposure will help the fear die down faster!

  • i have it.. How did you pass it? I'm trying to pass it.. I have had a huge depression and panic anxiety for 8 months now.. but thank God it's on the way out.

  • i struggled with emetophobia. like, really bad. i didn't eat or sleep or go out and i kept having panic attacks all the bloody time. but then i tried thought field therapy and it changed my life. you should try it. the panic attacks stopped and i don't suffer from emetophobia anymore. wow, i sound like an advertisment now. but i'm serious, go google it. :)

  • I'm only 13 and I have it since I can think... -.-

  • i am 14 and i have it as well. i have had it since i was 7 or 8.

  • we are not freaks... just cos you dont have it dosnt mean its pathetic or whatever you think... also how would you like it if people said your fear is pathetic... you wouldnt like that would you... you should really keep your rude comments to yourself.

  • you don't know what it's like..

  • Wow. I've had emet for as far back as I can remember (25 years). I've always been "that girl" of my family- the one who fears puke + puking. I definitely agree that non-emets just don't understand the hell we go through. It's so easy to scoff at what you don't understand. The fear is paralyzing.
