I had to get rid of my clock because I could *hear* the announcements. There'd be nobody home, no radio or anything on, I'd go check if the neighbors had something turned up that I could hear... nothing. Freaked me right out.
When I lived in NYC I used to connect to CHU instead of WWV as the signal is crystal clear. It comes from the Canadian Research Council's atomic clock ~400miles north of the city.
I have a grundig mini 300 am fm shortwave radio can I use this to pick up the time signal? I'ver tried all the frequencies in the description but i didnt hear anything, maybe im in a dead spot.
I dont have that long of a wire and my radio's antenna is sort of broken the top part of it has broken off and I put a sheet rock screw in its place for safety. ive heard that they will be expanding this network so us folks on the east costs can pick up the signal better. its amazing how radio controlled clocks can function on such a poor signal. ive never taken one apart but i bet the antenna is coiled up inside the clock.
thats bad ass

Try a long antenna, It's almost impossible to get the signal for more than a second with the built in antenna on my G6 here in NYC.
