When this bitch catches fire or starts dumping containers into the sea it will not be to Eco friendly. This is a floating ecological disaster just waiting to happen. This willkkeep flooding europe with more cheap chinese crap.Im glad its to big for US ports this will look great being unloaded in Rotterdam !
@19thSFGA So name a friendlier means of product distribution, or do we just live of what we can grow in our gardens? That computer you wrote that comment on... probably container delivered, unless it's American, then it has probably stopped working.
Those Maersk triple-E ships would propably have MAN engines. However Wartsila still provides the most powerful marine engines in the world: Wärtsilä RT-flex96C
Worth noting that offers from Chinese shipbuilders was ignore and refused due to real concerns what they would do with the technology they would then get access too.
They can come to Finland. To build massive cruise ships instead of massive cargo ships. I guess that segment of shipbuilding is not going to go to east so easily.
I'm a sales and purchase broker in shipping. I do this everyday so trust me when I say this, you don't know what you're talking about. Denmark (Europe) is way too expensive for newbuildings. That's why 90 pct is RoRo vessels and offshore units coming out of Europe. Btw, am also excvlusive on a Shipyard in Europe. Its not about being "poor" but about making money. Shipyards in Korea and Japan arte as good as Europe.
@kuzak20, I think it's okay that European shipyards concentrate on more "difficult" ships such as ferries, cruise ships, arctic vessels and generally prototypes while simple bulk carriers, container ships, tankers and such are built in places liek South Korea and China.
@victorh1414 again you prove you don't know what youre talking about. These units cost roughly 190 million a piece. They ordered 10 +10 +10 option recently. So if you take into consideration building them in Europe would cost almost 500 million more on 10 units average, and say they use their 10 + 10 option that would be roughly 1.5 billion (all expenses) for a series of 30 ships. Do you know what kind of fleet you could buy for 1.5 billion? I do = Alot of ships.
@AdmiralMoeberg That shipyard is owned by Maersk.... They would not have to be closed if the Triple E class was built there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Maersk, Denmark is NOT proud of you anymore!!
i wonder how many 10gal tanks and 2ft square cages each with different animals, and pots of plants you could jam into it?how bout bags of seeds of all kids? think about it for a century.like noah had to.

And what fuel does it use? Sulphur choked residual fuel oil - the last stage of oil between tar and charcoal.
No LNG? - why not?
If the designers are so fucking shit hot and environmentally conscious - where are the sails? Where is the giant high altitude tow kite?
There is no fucking effort at any environmental consciousness - only the lowering of fuel costs and economies of scale.
It's still a dirty piece of engineering bullshit.

@victorh1414 Because it's too f*cking expensive. Would you willingly pay 20-30% more just because it was blt in Denmark? I wouldnt.
