All those have realistic serious cold atmosphere. This game is different and its probably the only RTS that isn't always Serious like every other RTS and that is exactly what makes it unique and fun to play.

The original Farcry (again free with hardware several years earlier) is SO MUCH BETTER! games are supposed to get better, not worse.

Point 2: If you played command and conquer like i did and didn't go online the newer games disappoint because the story is shit. Generals was a good strategy game BUT isn't relevant to command and conquer at all. C&C3 and Kane's Wrath had a good story but c&c4 didn't end it very well *at all*.

It's much easier to add units to a selection group. You can add waypoints so units move to one spot and then immediately move to the next. You can attack move now as well. Something that was finally added in Generals despite it already existing in Starcraft 1. Attack moving is extremely important in an RTS.

@kritik6 EXACT! they are a publisher not a developer, I don't want start hating, but the truth is that most of the "good' games are only published by EA not developed. Mass Effect 2 is made by Bioware and Dead Space 2 is made by Visceral games, RA3 was a good game published by EA but had a lower metascore than RA1 and RA2. And since EA totally failed with C&C4 I think they shouldn't go on making RTS games but go on making Race or Sport games which they do pretty good.
@Elephiant Man, buying C&C4 was the worst mistake I ever made. They got rid of anything that is coherently C&C and besides that, you couldn't call it an RTS. Got a refund after like 5 minutes of playing. I still play Tiberian Sun and RA2 to this day.
Although; Tiberium Wars wasn't terrible. Day after day it seems all the good RTS are getting destroyed, the new C&C games are terrible and SupCom 2 is nowhere near as good as SupCom or Forged Alliance.
EA makes really sad RTS games, they cannot compare such games with
the games from Petroglyph games, so if they keep producing shit, I don't see how they should keep growing. At some point other companies like Ubisoft, Blizzard and Petroglyph should overtake EA 'cuz I don't know anyone who thinks C&C4 is a good game, and pretty many people agree that C&C3 is not bad but 1 and 2 were better. If End of Nations releases I don't think they can sell successfull RTS
@Ytguy100 1) RTSes can stay popular for much longer than a console generation -- which shortens the game's life.
2) Too little control without a mouse and keyboard for most (not all) RTSes.
3) Console games tends to prefer more disposable entertainment: appeal to the mass market, easier to receive as a gift... so on. RTSes demand effort to overcome their learning curves. PC Gamers are most likely to stick with specific games rather than jump from one similar game to another to satisfy a craving.
Way too cartoony for my taste - I want a game to be more realistic. Command and Conquer zero hour does it for me (eventhough there are some "futuristic" units in there as well)
ra is a very nice game but allies should had the same power as soviets and empires about skirmish cause they have less.now i cant find uprising is it only on line market?
Think that C&C+red alert lost a lot of the real spirit of the time when Westwood was the maker of the games. Don´t ask me what I miss. I really don´t know, but just feel empty playing the games. Not like before, in the early days, when every game was a gem

@GrayWolf671 Fine. But, the controls are definitely improved in the EA C&C games. When you play the big leagues of RTS games, that is Starcraft and Warcraft 3, you notice a drastic difference in the controls and it makes a significant different to what you can actually do when playing.

Although i will admit RA3 did make a good point bringing in imperial japan because if WW2 never happened then there wouldn't be a reason for imperial japan not exist but the way there incorporated it was stupid i know red alert wasn't taken very seriously but come on this game's story was pathetic.

@kritik6 EXACT! they are a publisher not a developer, I don't want start hating, but the truth is that most of the "good' games are only published by EA not developed. Mass Effect 2 is made by Bioware and Dead Space 2 is made by Visceral games, RA3 was a good game published by EA but had a lower metascore than RA1 and RA2. And since EA totally failed with C&C4 I think they shouldn't go on making RTS games but go on making Race or Sport games which they do pretty good.

@Elephiant Man, buying C&C4 was the worst mistake I ever made. They got rid of anything that is coherently C&C and besides that, you couldn't call it an RTS. Got a refund after like 5 minutes of playing. I still play Tiberian Sun and RA2 to this day.
Although; Tiberium Wars wasn't terrible. Day after day it seems all the good RTS are getting destroyed, the new C&C games are terrible and SupCom 2 is nowhere near as good as SupCom or Forged Alliance.

EA makes really sad RTS games, they cannot compare such games with
the games from Petroglyph games, so if they keep producing shit, I don't see how they should keep growing. At some point other companies like Ubisoft, Blizzard and Petroglyph should overtake EA 'cuz I don't know anyone who thinks C&C4 is a good game, and pretty many people agree that C&C3 is not bad but 1 and 2 were better. If End of Nations releases I don't think they can sell successfull RTS

@Ytguy100 1) RTSes can stay popular for much longer than a console generation -- which shortens the game's life.
2) Too little control without a mouse and keyboard for most (not all) RTSes.
3) Console games tends to prefer more disposable entertainment: appeal to the mass market, easier to receive as a gift... so on. RTSes demand effort to overcome their learning curves. PC Gamers are most likely to stick with specific games rather than jump from one similar game to another to satisfy a craving.

Ok, now I'm really confused. I remember years and years ago when I wanted to buy Red Alert 3 it was an age 12 rating and I was quite young back then so I wasn't allowed it. Now I'm way over that age and when I went on eBay and typed in "Red Alert 3" it came up with a 16+!! Someone please, gimme a hand?!

And starcraft 2 is WAY MUCH BETTER than this game, the only cons of sc2 is bnet 2.0 made by activision....but the game itself is great.
