I wouldn't bother with spinarak. It evolves too late for it's evolved form being so terrible.

@MsGhoulz In Pokemon HeartGold, My Ariados owned the elite four. I never used a Spinarak in regular Gold though. I always though "Oh, it's a bug type" as a kid. I only started taking bug types seriously around when Diamond and Pearl came out.

@AlexLong1000 Ariados is still garbage, stat and move-wise. It's not to hard to cream the CPU anyway, especially when your overleveled.

Hardly nothing other than Scizor and Heracross are good back at this time. Hell of alot different 3 gens from now. Almost all of 5th gens aren't pushovers.

My competitive team is much better. Pokemon like Cloyster, Bronzong, Tyranitar make for a BEASTLY TrickStorm team.

@robi4never After the last gym go to Prof. Elm and he'll give you some sort of ship pass or something. Then go to the town with the steel type gym leader go to the left from the light house then go down into the big building with the fisher men then talk to the guy at the end of the path and he'll let you in. ;)

@RockGodRockerV The battery in your pokemon gold cartridge is dead. Can't really do anything. It happens when you don't use the game for a few years.

@cubex55 last i knew the batteries would last at most about 7 years, I had my copy since 2000 and now ran dead, played it a little bit a few months ago and then tried it this week boom save gone, there goes probably 300 hours play time.

Maybe kinda late to post this. if your playing this Pokemon Gold using a PC emulator, there should be a fix if you search for it on Google that will allow you to save your Pokemon data

Since you did (or probably still do, lol) a Longplay of Gold, I doubt you will do a Longplay of Silver, right?

Not that it really matters, because both games are nearly identical (only a few differences), anyways, I was just curious, lol.

Pokemon games are notorious for their length (minimum 19-24 hours for the main storyline).

I think they're no longer than your average console RPG's length. They take 40+ hours to plow through the main story. Pokémon games are indeed longer than most handheld RPGs,though.
