I never found Peter Cook as funny as many other people, or more particularly, he himself, seemed to. I believe he, as with a number of duos, needed Dudley Moore as a foil, but even then he was more of the straight man and DM the true comic. His lip-licking is the sign of a true lush - Peter O'Toole, Jeffrey Bernard and all the other spongebrains are the same.
