i love my nook color but it has no kindle reader or mic or camera to record. and mainly it has very few useful apps - other android apps are great & ipad apps are great...why are folks not writing their same apps for nook color?

I write apps for iOS exclusively, not because I love Apple or their marketing department but because Android is just inferior technology in about 10 different ways.

Google could make Android better but they won't because they are blinded by their cloud ideology and their hubris.

Having owned both and ipad and an Asus tablet, I can say that Apple has one advantage...they make the hardware AND the software. With Android your going to get alot of fragmentation with one company creating the software and others creating the hardware, each with their own agendas, time schedules etc. Anyone who owns an android tablet or phone knows the frustration with trying to get company support or timely updates etc. Apple is like a well oiled machine in that sense.

Android is a good system. I use an HTC HD and it does more than an iPhone and does it at a much lower price. My only concern is that those manufacturers loading Android will then use the system as a leverage tool to get users to buy new products, rather than freely and quickly providing the latest update. I'm using HTC's flagship phone yet I will have to wait for a few months to recieve the 2.3 update, whereas the new models will have it loaded already.

Apple has one helluva marketing engine. Kudos to management! The absolute bias in the media is a different story though. It really causes one to distrust much of what is reported.

@BoomBustBlog Isn't it hard to predict what's going to happen in these types of industries on the basis of the product alone. I mean I don't really believe it's only the product that drives margins up or down (not that I have any particular expertise). For example, Nike hasn't provided a better product over the last 20 years (in fact it might be worse), but they have presented their product a lot better.

I've had my Nook Color rooted for about 2 months now, and I love it. I've been telling people to forgo the iPad for the same reasons you express in the video, but none of them seem to be able to get past the media hype of 'iPad frenzy'.
