Just a wondering, anybody watched this, and thought, that when it gets to 2.24, that the circles that are compass like which align themselves, are something you have experienced, and that is somehow seemed to be like a gateway, and at that point in the trip, everything has come into focus, taken on a new dimension, and that you seem now in control of where it goes, where you go, and that you find yourself going to some pretty interesting/new places and no longer feel like you are in your body?
Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. And HOW TO PLAY GUITAR. This is pure and utter art on so many levels, even though Steve has made better songs (Makimura, Sunburst, Cyberboogie), this is still supreme, utterly amazing.
sub zero influence... i mean... i'm jokin' ahahha.... there's influence here or there... but a lot of european animations are not influenced at all by manga... or a very light influence...
I'm not an expert about this...
But it's sure that Manga has a lot of fans everywhere... it's really massive...but it depends what kind of animation... you're talkin' about... but if you check Ladytron last music video 'Tomorrow'... here there's maybe a japanese influence...
If System 7 were around in the 70s they would have been fucking MASSIVE no question...Come on over for a visit, you might find something you like...Thank you Steveh...Gerry...TheGmcFilms...
it's difficult to put a 'band' in a Time Machine and press the button 'Rewind' ... it does not work... because a lot of their music is from our days and it's influenced by those last 30 years since the end of the 70s ...so it's simply absurd to put them in the 70s... they would simply not exist... and those electronic rythmic drum beats are just so typical modern...it does not exist in the 70s ...and hopefully :p
Whats wrong with wishing System 7 being in the 70s I was there. I was talking about the production value in the studio they have nowadays and the ascent of progress, and, what is wrong with imagining so in the first place. Even the band themselves i'm sure would love to go back in time with the technology they have today Oh, and another thing those tribal beats have been going for millenia. Ps. Why don't you listen to some of the African drummers who are as good drum machines.
@pugnaciousboxer2 I have that in my possession. I could only afford one of the manga volumes, and that was the one I bought. I never regretted spending the money on such a masterpiece.
I just saw System 7 last week at the Eden Festival in Scotland and they were unbelieveable. From the first, to the last chord of their set I lost myself in their music. I wish they had stayed on stage for another 5 or 6 hours as i dont think anyone would have minded.
listen to Michael Tsarion on the youtube. he is the worlds premier conspiracy researcher/lecturer/author. Leo Zagami and Dr. Bill Deagle are sincere and intelligent as well.
Steve Hillage is the Acid King all the way back to the 1970s. You should check out his version of "It's All Too Much." A George Harrison song. If you can check out Gong and Kevin Ayres you will see he has been at it for the last 40 years.
Ohhhh, that's the prettiest music video I've ever seen. Hinotori is such a beautiful character. <3 I really like the music too. Atmospheric, relaxing and some great guitar riffs too!
Wow! I've always liked System(777)Seven, since the early days when they collaborated with the Orb(the Blue Room, Mia[uh oh here comes the fischermann]). Steve Hillage uses his unique guitar sound to great effect on the Orb's latest wonder sound-scape The Dream, on the trax Codes & High Noon. Go System7!
I've never really gotten into this techno stuff before. But I've GOT to say it, "Pheonix" is one of the best albums in my collection. Painting with sound.
havent got the latest system 7 album yet, but im gonna get it now after watching this video. it seems to have a fresh feel to it. dont get me wrong, i love them, but i was expecting more of the same...
would love to hear a cd that hybridises system 7 with rai stuff, like khaled and taha.
You've obviously not heard any pre-Seventh Wave S7. Steve was still writing riffs back then. :P (Oh alright, there's SOME decent stuff on Phoenix, but not enough like Makimura Space Pilot. Wolfman is 4 minutes of mindless progtrance pummelling... and THEN some sublime soloing. Come on Steve, we want more of the guitar!)
and after hearing Phoenix properly, im quite dissapointed with it.
MOAR mindless pummelling! wolfman was the only rocking tune on the album.
and if you are comparing pre-seventh wave to Live transmissions, then u (obviously) havent heard the live album. its completely different (its a live album for starters), and shouldnt even be compared with a studio album. its like comparing Zep 2 to Song Remains the Same. (phoenix and zep's Coda ARE fair comparisons though)
immensely great graphics...competent choice of electro sounds. Composition is a mess though, and guitar is irritating. Music is however inevitably pointless.
Sorry to be harsh, but if you are famous or have a pro contract you should DO MUCH BETTER than this sloppy work. Andy Pickford does so much better artistry :-)
Hmm, I used to think this. Phoenix is better than the last two albums, but it's still a bit too simplistic compared to Steve's earlier triumphs. (Ditch my last comments, Steve, please)
Hinotori is pretty damn good though. A little minimalistic, but the guitar parts suit this. Love that little "bleepy" rising melody that appears every so often as well. It absolutely suits the unremittingly awesome video. Mr-°C Magic are hugely talented artists and animators.
Sweeet....What a lovely A~Wave to bring in the New Year of 2008. I shall see you both again in March at the Concorde 2 and Academy 2. It's been since 2004 and my body and mind is ready for another awakening... What A~Wave to enter and leave through my Stargate.
The video is absolutely beautiful and one of the most creative pieces I've seen in years. (Since Gantz Graf)
The music is just Steve Hillage doing mindless progressive trance with irritatingly generic "phat" beats, set to the usual unmemorable, equally generic synth arpeggios. He can't even be bothered to write any guitar riffs any more.
Sunburst, Sirenes and Cyberboogie all crap on this tune from a towering height.
Ugh... okay, having watched this something like a hundred times in the last 11 hours, the tune is growing on me. But Steve, why all the endless one-note basslines? Generic arps? What happened after Golden Section? You can do so much better than this. Perhaps you should go and listen to your own Fire album again - that is a masterpiece of glissy space guitar techno.
nice. S7 rule. S7 gigs are consistently amazing.havent seen them 4 ages. come to Birmingham please, i know its a shithole, but thats WHY you need to play here. the horrors are increasing in frequency and amplitude.
In the tail of the Phoenix there is also a feather with the shape of DNA. In fact the Phoenix transmits the DNA in an unconventional way...
