@am1966ath Alitatia has violated the Europeen Union convention and they should be punished for that because they must provide a compensation in some circonstances its a law and iff they don't they could be punished for that.
@Ahuntsicspotter ALITALIA is flying criminality..this airline should be closed down..in an age of RYANAIRS and EMIRATES who need ALITALIA out of Rome????
@am1966ath Probably its true but I know the verry corrupt airline who is in the same alliance with Alitalia and this airline is Tarom. Also I would like to know iff Air France, Delta Airlines, Aeroflot, CSA Czech Airlines or Korean Air is the same thing like Alitalia. I know Air France loses more bags than Alitalia.
@Ahuntsicspotter Losing bags?? that can happen everywhere although Lufthansa with Frankfurt where the first to introduce at Frankfurt airporta computerized system of bagage handling..before the internet age..Heathrow is the great "Bermuda" triangle of bagage...Im mainly a KLM customer..an airline with mainly lower fares than Lufthansa but with awful catering and ugly, cramped B747-400 Combi that compresses economy class in to cattle transport.
@am1966ath I know that but Lufthansa, Air France, British Airways and Alitalia are the airlines with verry high bag loss records and some times the bags are going for good.
@Ahuntsicspotter My theory is the human factor..the bagage handlers and sometimes the lack of automated bagage systems..like Kinshasa or Calcutta airports?..Heathrow is a Sargasso-sea oflost bagages because of different terminals and surface transport of bagage from terminal to terminal..Alitalia has staff, in Italy, that doesn t care about the customers at all..an organization for the interest of the employed. Bags get lost at main hub or destination??
@am1966ath I think that its true and Alitalia staff in Italy is probably watching other skyteam members who are landing in Italy and bags are lost. Due to the Alitalia bad reputation, Italy need a anti-Alitalia goverment. Me I went to Italy but it was with Air France and with KLM on the way back.
@Ahuntsicspotter Air France this huge French monolith was bankrupt,"defaite',PLEITE..so the french politicians pumped in 2billion Euro..and bankruptcy was history..and AF bought KLM..but still CDG 2 is videly hated by AF and other passangers..mind you the french are not service people..they are ass-lickers..but in personalia,jelous,mean-spirited and rude..no THAI airways or SIA or Emirates..thats why they(AF/AZ) are so afraid of Emirates/Qatar airways snatching their passangers...
@am1966ath AZ has served Dubai in the past but now they don't and Rome-Dubai route is now served by Emirates. Me I think AZ will close down sooner or later and I hope to see AZ punished by mister Monti. How? Mister Monti could ask AZ to compensate the custemers wich ones was suppose to and I hope he will fine AZ for that and the french goverment should do the same with AF. Also in Greece you have OK, AZ, AF, KL, DL and SU as a skyteam alliance members.
@Ahuntsicspotter Who can serve Dubai and compete with EK??? air India(LOL),Bangladesh Biman(LOL)??
In Milan Malpensa, arriving from a 14hour flight fromBuenos aires, there isn t aloung eto take a shower in, let alone buy a decent shirt if you are not a skeleton. State owned carriers blackmailtheir politicians, look at all the regular strikes at CDG and Rome and Athens. From Athens, only KL and mayby AF is okey with me..OK leaves at 0400 in the morning, I don t want to wait a lifetime in Moscow.
@Ahuntsicspotter Why can compete with EK or QR????mayby SIA..not any european..Lufthansa s hub is awful, that Franfurt thing..it has grown uglier in the last 30years. In France or Italy, the state owned airline has a stranglehold of the national hubs. Thats why they hate Ryanair, bypassing their hubs and amassing a huge corporate fortune...before RYANAIR and the arab QR/EK you as a passanger lived at the mercy of the state carriers with their blackmail pricing, making airtravel impossible
@am1966ath Iff you fly Lufthansa from Greece, you can fly to Munich and Munich Franz-Joseph Straus airport (MUC) is the best airport in Europe this year and 5th or 4th best airport in Europe also Lufthansa is having a partner LX (Swiss international airlines) who is based in Zurich Kloten airport and Zurich Kloten airport is among 10 best airports in the world this year.
@Ahuntsicspotter I know..have been many times in the past in ZRH and MUC..not anymore..with Dubai and Doha and mayby Abu Dhabi who needs drab european airports..I prefer the middle east...and Asia although those 10hour non-stops are tiresome.
@Ahuntsicspotter For small people that don t work for EU or IBM..thats why all these strikes..the people at AZ are scared shitless of competition..also Qantas who together with BA used to monopolize Sydney/Melbourne-Heathrow kangaroo route..EKhas daily B777/A380 to Australia, twice daily....
@am1966ath Since AZ stopped serving Australia, there was a desapearence off the direct flights between Italy and Australia. But presently AZ is having a partners who is flying to Australia and these partners are KE, VN, CI and CZ. Plus also on the Kagooroo route there is also CX who is in the same alliance with BA and QF.
@Ahuntsicspotter You want to transit Saigon??? Taipei is okey but Seoul is faraway from Melbourne as is Taipei and certainly Saigon/Hanoi?? AZ uses these co-operations to flush passangers it can t accomodate to these partners..do you need to book through AZ to fly China airlines Rome-Taipei-Melbourne or Sydney???
BA during colonial times curtailed CX for a long time..on flights to Australia/HKG-London....
@am1966ath I don't need to use AZ to travel thru CI. For you to Melbourne there is SQ, TG, EK, EY and QR. But KE from FCO to MEL via ICN its not bad idea because ICN is in the top 10 off the worlds best airports.
@am1966ath Iff Air France hate competition the have to get used to it because they are competing with CX, SQ, EK, EY, LH and OZ but AF also compteting with QR and more. AF is above the US airlines but bellow Asian Airlines like SQ and CX. However CX is in the same alliance with QF and BA. In the past Alitalia has served Sydney Melbourne and Hong-Kong but now on these route CX is suceeding CX is serving Rome and Milan. AF is using the a 380.
@Ahuntsicspotter French bureaucrats could never get used to competition..for years SIA flew out of Orly two or three times a week...and to the US there where only PANAM/TWA...this changed world doesn t suite the french at all..in 1987 the french police would inquire how much passangers who left Paris Orly on carriers like PAL,SIA or Egyptair, transiting Asia how much they payed for the ticket..of course cheaper than AF..so pay the extra AF-add on as fine..French competition for you
@am1966ath SIA is now flying to CDG daily with the a 380 and AF do not use the a 380 from SIN to CDG terminal 1 the worst part off CDG. Today there is no inquiry off how much passenger has paid to fly to the US also there is a openskyes agreement between Europeen Union and the United States and there is also on open skyes agreement between Europeen Union and Canada to. We didn't have this 5 years ago. PAL is now blacklisted in Europe and in response KL could be banned in Philippines.
@Ahuntsicspotter That there is an Open Sky doesn t mean that the french government likes it..it was forced to agree as AF need landing rights. For years, SIA flew out of Orly which I can assure you is worst that CDG 1..SIA also fly out of Calcutta and flew out of Kathmandu airports..awful placesbut still once you make it aboard service is great. PAL withdrew from the EU in 1997 due to asian financial crisis. Thispositive changes for passangers came gradually..but AF don t like it...
@am1966ath PAL is not allowed to fly to EU but when the airline is blacklisted in EU they are not allowed to fly nonstop in the EU airspace. Also the EU blacklist is the result off Alitalia taxes and same thing for KLM who is the only airline flying between EU and Philippines. To get to Philippines directly from EU, you go via AMS. But from ATH to Philippines you don't have to go via AMS you can go via DOH, AUH, DXB or SIN.
@Ahuntsicspotter You forget Gulfair via Bahrain..have been twice to Manila, flew there by Malaysian airlines and Gulfair..PAL doesn t need to fly to Europe..their diaspora is in Canada/US..there is big competition between Manila and Europe via Asia/middle east...You can fly from Stockholm with QR via Doha also..not bad at all..or FINNAIR via Helsinki/Hongkong and CX ex HKG...alliances work that way...feeding each other..doesn t mean that all governments like it.
@am1966ath Oh thanks Yes there is a competition via Asia/Meadle east between Manila and Europe but iff you fly via Asia Meadle Eeast, you can connect to Manila or Cebu like for exemple iff you fly from ATH to Cebu you can take QR via DOH. Also between US and Philippines there is not only Philippine Airlines there is also DL who is in the same alliance with KL.
@Ahuntsicspotter The US used strong arm negotitations to make Tokyo/Narita a hub for United airlines and Northwest(orient)..the japanese and JAL didn t like that....PANAM flied in a timeof small asian carriers and few flights...a B747 in 1973 that was something and more if it went around the world/daily (PA101)...
@am1966ath Northwest do not exist they changed for Northwest airlines and then it was the merger NW/DL and Delta airlines merged with Northwest airlines taking all NW fleet. Also DL took PanAm transatlantic routes.
@Ahuntsicspotter Carriers merge and change names or stopp operating..but the traffic rights remain ?UA in 1986 bought PANAM pacific routes and JAL and japanese gov. became worried that UA would sink JAL as they could transit US passangers from some 150 US destinations to Tkyo and beyond. Traffic rights can be more expensive than the airline itself..look at PANAM rights at Heathrow..worth more than a motley collection of B747s..likeOA traffic rights to Heathrow..big money in slots.
@am1966ath Sink JAL for UA is not that easy because the passengers who are flying JAL from US to Japan are 100% certain to have a ptvs in the economy class and on some routes between US and Japan UA is using the 747 and all UA 747s do not have ptvs.
@Ahuntsicspotter Last time I was in Asia, 2008 I saw several UA B777S..and frankly, I think that many passangers of UA ,especially chinese or Vietnamese passangers are only interested in how much the ticket costs..from Denver,Detroit,Boston or Vegas to Hochiminh city,Guangzhou,Shanghai or Seoul. This PTV is a new thing, the threat from UA US routes to JAL is 25years old. JAL doesnt serve that amount of US cities as UA does...JAL didn t like that NW, now Delta or UA had a hub at Narita.
@Ahuntsicspotter I have been some 17-18 times to Asia...carriers have changed over the years and so have their equipment..and some have gone. Have flown SIA/TG/CA/AI/GF/QR/EK/LH/KL/MH TO Asia...frankly on some carriers service has gone from excellent to good and on other they are equally bad. Have flown Garuda and Vietnam airlines inside Asia also.
@Ahuntsicspotter Have flown with B747-300(combi)(SQ) B747-400 & combi(KLM),B747-200(THAI,CA and AI, old and very used)DC10(THAI),A330(EK/QR) B777(EK/SQ)..A340(Gulfair). Also once 74SP(CA).
