I'm sure you're not the only one. I was hoping I would trick some people; although, it was difficult to remain serious as I was demonstrating the bogus techniques.
I hope you realized the whole video was a joke. I thought I made this clear later in the video. Some people actually do this stuff on purpose hoping the balls will do what they can't.
Maybe I misread you comment. Are you implying my joke is disrespectful because some people teach and/or use these techniques? If you or others were offended, I am sorry.
@DrDaveBilliards crazy 8 ball. I want one. Do a video video with that 8, where you do a masse shot on the cue ball, and say you transfered the masse to the 8 ball. LOL! cool video on the swoop and turn. =D
hehe I have one of those "trick" 8 balls been using it for years. I did however see, Sir Ray Ceulemans perform a legal shot, without elevation, in which a toothpick couldn't be inserted between cue ball and object ball, by wiping the tip across the cue ball during the stroke. It's not exactly what you're talking about, nonetheless it's an amazing shot, which takes an even more amazing stroke.
@ehsanul Actually, it is legal as long as the shot does not result in a double hit. There is no rule about how long the cue tip and ball remain in contact.
You almost had me with that second shot! I was just thinking to myself "HM, did that just really happen?!"
Great stuff Dr. Dave, I'm enjoying these videos as much as I have enjoyed your Illustrated Principles of Pool and Billiards book! Keep up the good work, and Thanks again!
You had me fooled. Good one :)

What would really be fun is an S-turn masse shot. When I get some time, I'll give it a try.

I would think that "wiping the tip" wouldn't be considered a legal shot. You have to stroke into it if I'm not mistaken.
