A better idea is to take a book (one that isn't very interesting) and gut out a big square in the center of the pages and bind the perimeter of the cutout with hot glue. You don't have to worry about anyone throwing the book away and if the book isn't very interesting and you have lots of books on the shelf, the likelyhood of someone finding it are VERY small.
