Back then they actually knew each other. They're having a good time, because they know they look ridiculous doing such schlock. They were comfortable enough to poke fun at themselves. They're adults who know who they are; not the adolescents we have today. They really were "stars".

Can you see Brad Pitt, Colin Farrell and Ralph Fiennes doing this? A joke. They'd go catatonic with fear of trying to be a "regular guy", throw a hissy fit over who had better light, or mumble like a 13 year old..
