Koyaanisqatsi is a masterpiece for sure. If you like this... Check out the video for Passengers "A Different Kind of Blue"... somebody did a good job putting that song to Koyaanisqatsi as well. Passengers BTW is U2 along w/ Brian Eno... they did some interesting trippy stuff. I'm totally getting into the post rock outfits like this Explosions in the Sky, though... Pandora radio turned me onto a lot of cool bands like 'My Dad Vs Yours', 'Glider', 'Mogwai', 'The Big Sleep' etc. good stuff
I went to Philadelphia one day & just walked on a breezy day with this music....slowly walking & observing the life of people.....of what people do in their lives...what they even think of their own lives.....and the purpose of everything....
Does anyone else make videos like this or know what program can be used to make them? Also, how do I get the video clips on my computer? Please send me a private message if you know, I want to start making videos like this with a lot of Post-rock music. Thanks
@drawbutyesterday It has no plot. It is just a bunch of clips progressing from clouds and water tides to how humans have affected nature. It's a documentary epic.
Great piece... sigh. As much as we have our flaws... we are a most interesting and peculiar race... and the globe we live on, and have shaped over the course of years... astonishes me. So much we take for granted. So much to feel, see, touch, taste and hear. It is beautiful... and when at most times, I cannot say I am proud to be human, I can say... I am proud, to be alive.
@budbundy87 To me, and to many, it enhances the beautiful realization that the world - despite its downsides - is brightly alive, and ever changing and growing and that there is a marvel in every thing small and big.
I know that this is like my 10th comment, yet I just cant describe it! Anytime I listen to this song I want to share the feeling. It's as if my heart is going to explode. Every single place and scene in the video reminds me of a part of my life, and yet makes me thing what an enormous world it yet how everything is in perfect balance. It's as if I'm living my life all over again in those 8 minutes. For this one time only, I am at peace with the world. And that is enough for me.
i LOVE this song ... 8 minutes of diferent notes and tones ... these men need to be more famous than any justin gay bieber or lady ga-ga ... i dont acrually love EITS, but only for this song, i believe they are the best in the world.
It's 5:30 AM in Reykjavik, Iceland, I just walked 20 minutes from the town centre to my home at the campus, listening to this song. under a clear sky with northern lights dancing on it. Damn man, that's too much for a lost spanish guy. Great feeling, I wish I could share it.
Amazing job man. I loved, loved, loved the video clips because they matched up so well with the music. This song is so fantastic and what you did with the video and music matching up so well together was awesome. Keep up the good work.
I'd say, this is the song of my life. Now that I've listened to it for years and years, it brings an incredible amount of memories in my head, from the endless trips and journeys Ive been in the world, the countries I have visited, to the plains of the mountains, where I spent most of my childhood. I feel like there's a hurricane in my chest... Like I am indeed going to explode...
hello everyone youtube search (Julio SDSU wmv). its Julio Velazquez SDSU Senior Dance Concert Piece "The Essence of a Memory" which happened last weekend 4/23,24,25/10 performed to this song! He has grown so much and has come along way

This timeline coincides with many spiritual traditions' beliefs as well. DMT has been synthesized and is an incredibly powerful (yet short-lived, less than one hour) psychedaelic.
Whenever i listen to this, and many other pieces by EITS, i feel overwhelmed, like there's a hurricane in my chest or something, i feel like i am indeed going to explode lol.
And the combination of this video and this song, all i can say is wow, good job, have to confess i shed a tear for some reason :)
You've made an extremely good job. I've always thought EITS never make videos to let listeners have their own visualizations and avoid reducing the impact of the music. But somehow the images from the Qatsi film you've chosen and assembled are so universal and timeless that won't bias the music; it's rather like a dialogue between images and music. If one had to chose to represent man's place on the planet in less than 8 minutes, this video would be perfect.

these guys do so much with just sound. not a single fucking word is spoken but the way the play their instruments transports you to another dimension. This film is perfectly mashed with the music.
At least you're respectful. Most people who don't really like this music just insult it. Glad you can see some merit to it. Beautiful and passionate is how I would describe it.

Whats dmt? sorry if thats a stupid question but i really have no clue
PeazyJay07 2 years ago
Its the most potent hallucigent in the world. You should read the spirit molecule and find out for yourself.
ManicMindTrick 2 years ago
DMT is dimethyltryptamine. It's produced by the pineal gland in the brain. At around 7 weeks after conception, there is a "DMT burst" which is rather unexplained, but has been called the moment the soul enters the body. This timeline coincides with many spiritual traditions' beliefs as well. DMT has been synthesized and is an incredibly powerful (yet short-lived, less than one hour) psychedaelic.
