The reporters seem to resent and dislike the fact that Chomsky won't just answer a question as they command, but explain the situation as a whole for why he'll answer it a certain way. It's open discussion that journalists today aren't comfortable with. They prefer to ask questions, receive answers, and anyone watching the TV that doesn't understand what's going on will just have to remain ignorant.

The reporter doesn't want to see a peaceful solution, he wants a sound bite for his editor and so that he can tell his bourgeois friends that he shot down Chomsky.
