  • Anyone else notice the Sesame Street News opening sounds kind of "off" in this one?

  • STOP CHOPPING DOWN MY CHERRY TREE'S!!!!!

  • TIMBERR!!!

  • I wonder if the # of trees at first, "1776" was intentional......

  • KERMIT: Excuse me, sir, uh, pardon me, are you George Washington's father?

MR WASHINGTON [wearily]: Yep, yeah I am, all the time...

  • @Iguanadudestudios

His real name is Mr Johnson.

  • If George Washington's father wants George to stop cutting down his cherry trees, he shouldn't forgive him every time he does it. He should reason with him.

  • @muppetfan33 Back then, after the first he probably would've gotten it with his father's razor strap and not sat down for a week! :)

  • lol

  • I saw a clip of this on the Best of Kermit on Sesame Street video. I never saw the whole thing until now.

  • Me too. I saw it on "The Best of Kermit" video during Kermit's Montage of a few of his "News Flash" clips while it showed the blooper of the Cherry Tree landing on top of Kermit due to what happened after Young George Washington chopped down another Chery Tree (all unbeknownst of wher Kermit was standing) right after George Washington's Father told Kermit that Young George had to learn to stop chopping down his Cherry Trees.

  • Yep.

  • s'my boy george haha

  • Aww, young George is cute!

Did anyone else anso notice that the morse code sounds during the News Flash title card sounded different?

  • what yr was this in the 70's?

  • I'm not sure. I was born in 1975, which I'm guessing is the first year I saw this, so it could've been like 1974, or something.

  • @muppetfan33 At the start of this Kermit mentions the Bicentennial, which was in 1976, so this skit was probably first aired that year.

  • @muppetfan33 I'm sure this segment might actually be from 1976.

  • @wileyk209zback I bet you're right.

  • Sesame Street is the best. :)

  • 1774

  • Lol, great reporting job kermit!

  • nice muppet in tv shows!!!
