I agree with the fact that it lets you know when someone takes your laptop away you will get informed, but also the whole area will hear the alarm (95 db is very loud), when it's a crowded place like a university. I use this alarm in combination with a steelcable, works perfect. 1 month ago 3 laptops were stolen from my universities library. They cut the steelcables rather easily and just took the laptops, nobody noticed anything. I think the combination steelcable / laptop alarm is a good one
Okay well try to find it on some bigger online stores in the USA, I know they sell these alarms there already. I know there is a big it company in the USA who sells these alarms already. If you found it, let me know!
What do you mean by plugging the device into the usb hub next to the laptop? Do you mean plugging it into an other device after the alarm sounds? That doesn't work. Once the alarm sounds, it's only possible to deactivate the alarm with the chip/key. I use this alarm together with my steelcable as extra protection. Works great!
In which country do you live? This security product has just been introduced in some countries in Europe. I don't know if it is already available in your country???
Great product, I use it in combination with my laptop at University, it's a good way to prevent theft I think. And better then the random steelcables, because it gives a very loud alarm, when someone might try to steel your laptop. Awesome SOUND!!! GOOD PRODUCT for a low price in comparison to the steelcables!!
why keep eveything important on a laptop? I rahter, keep my data on a stick and if I leave my computer for a second I take my stick

i know they make a steal cable with a cut sensor hooked up to it so should it be cut an alarm sounds as well.

you set it down in a busy area it is a good deterent. some one will see who took it and the alarm draws attention.

i'm tempted to get an audiable alarm and a steel cable solution, theft is very high in this area...
so... what happens if after removing the device you just plug it into the usb hub sitting next to the laptop?
