  • Is Richard Petty "the legend" dead?

  • @MrLuke5416 No

  • @rebelracing88 Ohhh Ok I thought he was cause of all the tributes

  • You can rest assured that Richard's favourite moments of his Farewell Tour were his successful moments. He had a great mid-season qualifying run of second, seventh and fourth, while also managing to lead the first five laps of the Pepsi 400. Along with this farewell lap, I'm sure that's how the King really wanted to be remembered: at the front, in the thick of things, even if only briefly. :-)

  • Too bad the car is messed up.

  • wow he still wear same hat

  • Musta been hard sitting there in that stock car...knowing that this will be the last time he ever races. Can you imagine what that must have felt like...

He must have replayed his entire life up to that moment in that couple of minutes.

    Richard, Dale, We salute you.

  • still the king

  • In the last lap he should be driving the plymouth superbird :(

  • sport is now a playoff based ass clowns advertising candy and tools.

  • what happened to the front of the car?

  • @SPAZZY1912

Richard Petty was involved in a fiery crash on lap 96, and what you see is a result of them tearing away the sheet metal that was useless.

  • Dale Sr. and Richard Petty will NEVER be beaten. In the NASCAR carreer standings. It's Petty and Dale Sr. tied it first, with Jeff Gordon 2nd.

  • where is the front car?

  • id like to see him race one last time as a tribute race

  • Man He was and still is a racing legend. He is the KING. :)

  • This is one of greatest moments in redneck history watching the king salute his subjects there never will be another, Jimmy can cram his 4 in a row king Richard will always be better cause he drove race cars when they were all stock hell they even used to give drivers a rebel flag after the southern 500 what happened to the good old days

  • "I wouldn't trade nothin' for nothin' else"

truer words have never been spoken

  • its crazy to think that its been 17 plus yrs since this day. I still have Richard Petty The Legend documentary that was ordered for me when i was 10 yrs old on the day of this race november 15, 1992. Im 27 now but it seems like yesterday

    .

  • it's so cool to see Petty at the end and how Petty is the only driver I have never heard getting any boos for as good as he was.

  • Too bad Earnhardt Came after Pettys golden years, would have been fun to see them both at the top of there game

  • I wish he would come back for one race ONE RACE get STP back and every thing for just one race to see how Richard would fair....long live the king

  • @slayerdearly let see he at what 82 83 wins i think he well get at least 86 but how he been running past 3 years i don't see him winning 100 tho he be luckey to get 90

  • @bigbenhohhh well ether way I just like to see him get to 3ed on the all time wins list so(wonder when he will retire)

  • @slayerdearly he said he will in like 2015

  • @bigbenhohhh Sadly, He Might Never Come Back As A Driver, Jeff Gordon Even Said He Might Retire By then!!!!!

  • Richard Petty is the King all right! He is amazing at anything he does...just like when it comes to playing a hand of Poker! Yep! The King will be in a Major and elite Poker Tournament with other legends like Mike Ditka this fall in the Bahamas! Watching these two go head to head is a Kodak moment!

  • The King won 200 career races on the NASCAR circuit, along with 7 Sprint Cup/Winston Cup Series Championships tied with Dale Earnhardt Sr., and the King won 7 career Daytona 500's.

No one will beat those numbers.

Those numbers tell the story of how great Richard Petty was. Now we see him not in a race car, but in an around the garages at the races.

  • @pfmiv another number that will not be beat: 10 straight wins.

  • @pfmiv jimmie johnson could beat those records in a row. all hail king richard

  • @88888888888anonymous Jimmie Johnson has won five championships by being the best driver in the last ten races and the tenth best in the previous twenty-six. Richard Petty won seven championships by being the best all year round. He is the KING, Jimmie will never even come close.

  • @RyanTheIncredible882 not to mention, Richard won 10 races....in a row, can Jimmie do that? never have and never will....

  • @pfmiv

Richard Petty only competed in the Winston Cup. He was without a doubt the best NASCAR driver ever.

  • @boogioogigoof His championship wins are within the same series. They just changed the name. His championship wins are referred to as 'Championships in what is now called Sprint Cup'.

  • @pfmiv Jimmie Johnson will probably finish with 7+ championships, but the other two stats will belong to The King for a looong while

  • @TheSpiderTre and even if jimmie dose with 7 or more he did it with dirvers that cant drive here petty won them aginst the best the sport has seen waltrip, earnheardt, pearson, allision

  • The best there is, the best there ever was and the best there ever will be.

    The King, Richard Petty.

  • This was the end of an era, Richard took the sport to new heights.

Earnhardt and Gordon took over after he retired.

The sport is in shambles now, i miss the good old days. They're gone forever though now.

  • @coalreigoncoalcracke all sport is in a shambles nowadays to be honest

  • i wounder how hard it was for him to retire. i mean wen u race and have so much fun for 40 years u just cant wake up and decide to reitre and let life go one. but Richard Petty will always be the king!

  • agreed

  • Richard Petty is and always will be Nascar.

  • 50 years and 200 wins. thats why the call him ( the king)

  • Amen. Dale Earnhardt was always one to admit that he looked up to "The King".

  • The King is the greatest driver that ever was born beside Dale Earnhardt Sr.

  • which race was his last win? i wasnt born after he retired sooo i dont know what his last win was but i know that petty, earnhardt sr., the allisons, pearson, yarlbrough and lots of others made nascar what it is today

  • Richards last win was the 1984 July Daytona race where I think he beat Yarlbrough by like half a nose. President Regan was there too, I believe it was on the 4th of July weekend so thats why I think Regan was there.

  • ok thanks

  • Richard Petty made nascar what it is today

  • no not really.........but he was great and helped!!

  • This race and this season proves that you dont NEED to have the Chase to have drama! I am 17 (I was not even 2 when this race was run FYI) but I find that watching this race on the VHS tape my parents recorded was so much more interesting than any race you see today. Plus, this was NASCAR's golden age when there were no conspiracy theories of ppl cheating, no chase format, no freezing the field, back when racing was racing and the boys were boys. Richard Petty, amazing racer, bar none.

  • Richard Petty: 50 Years In NASCAR!!!!!

  • Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt made this sport

  • The sad part about this is, most people only know nascar as it is today. They don't even know who Richard was and what he did for this sport. This is and was nascar, he is a legend.

  • I agree. I am 17 but I am a serious NASCAR buff so I know that Petty, Pearson, Yarlbrough, Earnhardt, Baker, Junior Johnson and the Allisons all made NASCAR what it is. I asked people if they knew about Richard Petty and them that raced before 2000, and they had no clue who he was. I was angry, they claimed they were real NASCAR fans. That is a slap in the face to me as a NASCAR fan if you say your a fan, yet you cant name the person who tops the list in everything imagineible in this sport.

  • Oh and Pearson would also be a great name to add to that list :]

  • yes classic race

  • Yes

  • wasnt this jeff gordens first race to?
