@lewisgunner1 - Ok, anyways it's there because this is a gameplay video of a PC game Crysis Warhead to show how it runs on i7 920 CPU at 4.1GHz and 4870 X2 graphics card, there is a level called ''Call me Ishmael'' in this game.
well yea i just tiped my name and your video came up so i thought why not see what it is the title is a famous line that a famous whale hunter said he said call me ishmael its from a book called moby dick
Well yes, it is a shit video for kids like you. But it's a very interesting and important video for someone who wants to know how well these components can run Crysis Warhead.
okey, thx for telling me because I was about to buy another 4870 but now I know it wont be much of a difference. I will probably w8 for the dx11 cards in september
at what i need to set the voltage when im at 3.2 ghz ? ( and can i still play gtta 4 or crysis without the CPU goes to hot (stock cooler),and i see some people also OC there DDR3 is it necesarry ?
DRAM overclocking isn't necessary, you can do it if you like to... (overclocking it manually is necessary if you're doing some extreme OC...). Voltage for 3,2GHz depends on the stepping (D0 or C0).
ok but i dont know mutch about overclocking a CPU caus its in bios, you can say it basicly or do you cangive a link or something ? at 3.2 ghz with stock voltage , so i need to be my voltage standart also ?
ok 1 more question , how you do you think i can overclock the I7 920 with a standart cooler thant comes with the cpu , and other wise with a noctua cooler ?
i7 is a lot better in multitasking because it has 8 threads, also it's faster at 2,66GHz than Phenom 2 at 3GHz. But in games the difference isn't very big as long as the GPU is not bottlenecked by CPU.
Yes, it definately will run Crysis and GTA 4 at maximum settings (Crysis not very smooth, but playable). I had 4,1GHz basically because I wanted to write it into the title =)
3,6GHz is actually enough to not bottleneck the 4870 X2.
hello , i have a question i dont know verry well what to buy a 4870 or a gtx 285 what should i buy ? ,btw with what nvidea card you can put the ati card in the nvidea series ?
i realy need help my gpu is a 4870 X2 the rest of my specs are on my profile
anyway i used to get 35-45 fps avarage in crysis warhead. but i hadnt played the game in a while then one day i started playing it again and my fps is like 20-25 will never go above 30 it like the frame rate is stuck when i look at the ground/sky i used to get 60 now i get 30 it bnothing to do with my catalyst setting coz there fine. plz help anyone!!!
what do you mean only ? that's seriously good considering it's a 920 (OC so only the clock speed is incresed) and not to mention it's only one 4870x2 and ATI cards aren't even optimised for crysis like nVidia cards AND the settings are maxed (apart from AA).
Well. My PC is much worse (most of the components are from 2004-2005). And I'm getting around 30 fps with the same settings and resolution. The same goes for Bioshock.
Of course I have huge framedrops when there is extreme firefights and when a lot of things is going on. It can drop to 5 fps! But other than that, it is stable at 30-35 fps. Like running in the jungle with no enemy characters on screen. Maximum FPS is 45.
I have seen people getting 40-60 fps with almost the same spec as your computer at even higher res!
cant be mate my dual 2 gtx 260s get bogged in crysis and i have a phenom 955 at 4.1GHz
i geta round the same a lil better fps as him that agp 3850 will only squeak by in crysis unless you are using med or low setting not to mention that crysis really dosnt like ati cards
I can run Warhead @ Enthusiast 1680x1050 8xAA with 35-60Fps (V-Sync On).
My computer has Core i7 920 D0 @ 4,3Ghz @ 1.4V (Water cooling), 3Gb 1229Mhz 7-7-7-18, GTX295 @ 633/2222/1366, 1750Gb HDD (250Gb for system, 1500Gb for Data and games).
If anybodies interested, the config file is called "Cuban-Ultima-Doom-Arch-Assassin47-Taowolf-Sword's Custom Crysis Configs [CCC] v2.21[~] TWEAKED BY DEVLIN1991" - google it - I highly recommend trying it out - happy gaming.
Yes I use different configs for both Warhead and the original Crysis, I use updated texture packages i.e., CVargroups. These configs have been tweaked to increase performance and improve textures, shadows etc etc. It took me a while to find the right config file to suit my system but once I did the framerate increased from 20 to 29-40 - sometimes it drops to 20-24 although very rare. But I highly recommend it especially since both games are not fully optimized.
I can run this with my E5200 3.30Ghz , 4gb 1066mhz , 4850HD 512mb (OC )on my x48 ds4 MB. With a resolution of 1650 x 1050 nearly maxed out (with a altered config file) 24-40 Fps. But AA slows it down too much - I play without it on. My temps are 33 degree CPU and 4850 is 64 degree I have plently of case fans and exhaust fans. Just proves you don't need a super computer to run it, just a altered config file, believe me it does wonders.
At 4,1GHz and full load (Prime95 30 minutes) I'm getting maximum of around 92C with 23C room temp, With 18C room temp I got a lot better temps (10C better). Your temps are so good because you're running it at stock voltage (1.2). Also CM V8 is a very good CPU cooler!
lol i just saw that in the description just now XDD but thanks for the info, thats a little bit too extreme of a voltage for me cuz i don't wanna fry my computer! D= i've heard the max safest to have the volts at is 1.3 ish or so but thanks for the info anyway! just doin some research
Ehm,your computer is shit...My 8800GT 512MB 1680x1050 with AAx4 have 25-45FPS...You have small FPS in this game sorry but you must buy new processors...
his computer is actually total overkill with everything the reason you get 45 fps is because crysis was optimized for nvidia card,s also, he has on 8x AA if he turned that down to probably 2x or even none, he would probably get much more FPS because AA is an fps killer for most cards
do you know this first hand that Nvidia is better than ati which there gpus? What cards have you compared?
Well I've only owned Nvidia so don't say im a fan boy or something, just wanted to kno if you had any backbone to what you're saying for personal future reference
They have a lot of documentation on their website designed to help developers get the most out of their hardware. In comparison ATI's developer's support is somewhat less significant. Go to the developer sections of both ATI and nvidia's websites.
Cool, did you disable hyperthreading? it's not doing any good in games :( I disabled mine and run 3800mhz on stock heatsink with 1.24v :D 5/5 for the vid ^^
I had hyperthreading enabled... in Warhead it's not making any difference... only graphics-based application where it makes difference is 3DMark Vantage. Games currently can't use 8 threads...
The point of this video is to show what FPS I get with my hardware, not to show you how nice the graphics look like... most people who have modern PC's can max out the graphics and enjoy the awesome detail and shaders... they'll get about 2-5FPS average, but they can do it.

powercolor radeon 1gb 4870 gddr5
2 gb 800 mhz ram
amd athlon x2 5000+ 2.6ghz
and an ace raw deal 520W psu
i get 20-25 fps on gamer setting at no AA and 1680 res
what is wrong.
oh and my mobo is pcie 1.1 or 1.0 i dunno but it shoulden´t be that low fps
pikeman383 2 years ago
You have your GPU bottlenecked so getting a faster CPU or overclocking your current one would improve FPS.
arvutihull 2 years ago
@pikeman383
I wouldn't play at 1680 if I were you. 1024x768 will sligthly raise you FPS and doesn't look too bad.

DRAM overclocking isn't necessary, you can do it if you like to... (overclocking it manually is necessary if you're doing some extreme OC...). Voltage for 3,2GHz depends on the stepping (D0 or C0).
arvutihull 2 years ago
ok your sure 3.2 ghz with a stock cooler caus i dont want my processor to overhit :p, 3.1 or 3.0 ghz will be enough also actually , greetings
nvideabelgium 2 years ago
Yes, 3,2GHz with stock voltage is completely safe.
arvutihull 2 years ago
ok but i dont know mutch about overclocking a CPU caus its in bios, you can say it basicly or do you cangive a link or something ? at 3.2 ghz with stock voltage , so i need to be my voltage standart also ?
nvideabelgium 2 years ago
For 3,2Ghz just go to the BIOS and set 160 as a BCLK frequency (stock is 133)... it's the easiest way to overclock.
arvutihull 2 years ago
ok ty but i gonna do it slowly by slowly , so evrytime like 100 mhz more or something i dont want it to be broken xD
nvideabelgium 2 years ago
ok 1 more question , how you do you think i can overclock the I7 920 with a standart cooler thant comes with the cpu , and other wise with a noctua cooler ?
nvideabelgium 2 years ago
At least 3,2Ghz is possible with stock cooler, with Noctua NH-U12P SE1366 at least 3,8GHz and 1.3V. Depends on what stepping you have (D0 or C0)...
arvutihull 2 years ago
ok ,thanx but i guess a 4890 and a i7 there will be no bottlenecking eh ?
and maybe when its necesarry i overclock it with a noctua cooler.
already thanx for information =)
nvideabelgium 2 years ago
For GTA 4 you may need to overclock it if you want the best performance, because it's a very CPU based game
arvutihull 2 years ago
but mine I7 920 is 2.66 ghz i know amd processors of 3.0 ghz at the same price why is the I7 bether then ?
