Hugo Chavez may not be perfect but his government gives hope to the Venezuelan people. Also in recent years his shift leftwards has intensified. Chavez moved as fast as he could at the time. Try to move too fast and you stand to be defeated quickly. Chavez gives hope for what can be achieved. However I think it will take a long time to get that in ireland.

I read the policy documents, they clearly state they wanted united tax rates across the whole of Ireland, that is to say they would like 10% corporation tax rate across the whole of Ireland, which is why they welcomed proposals for a 10% tax rate in northern ireland a couple of years ago but it was ultimately rejected by the british goverment.

Ok I read it again, perhaps I am mistaken, but to me harmonisation of tax rates across the whole of Ireland one of two things, either northern Ireland will drop their corporation tax rates. Or as you would rather believe, that the corporation tax rates are raised to 17.5% and 30% respectively, although this is not exactly a revolutionary move, since it is at these rates in Britain anyway.

The US just walked away due to the political climate stateside. In all est. 5 million civilians died in that war. 4 million were north Vietnamese. The VietCong lost 1.1 million men. Do you want to substitute one form of oppression with another? If you want to live in a society which values women's,animal,individual,chil­dren and religious rights then be concerned about the increasing power of islam globally or if not live in a society where sharia law is enforced. nationalism is incomptbl with islam

no mate while i don't neccessarily agree with the fundamentalist side of islam in the way they treat women etc. i believe every one has the right to believe what they want.governments should be secular and free of religious influence. it is important to remember that the strict interpretations of the bible is similar to the koran. not all muslims are psycophaths but this is the image we are most familiar with in the media.
