  • Also in Cambodia under the KR regime was babies murdered in the most barbarous manner.

On my trip to Cambodia in January 2010. I visited the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum in Phnom Penh. There I saw a painting of a Khmer Rouge soldier who awfully an infant head against a tree. Another painting showed how the Khmer Rouge soldiers threw babies into the air and shot them as clay pigeons.

The paintings were painted by surviving prisoners.

  • i'll never stop waching it !

this is the policy of our weakness :(

    endless tears :(

  • I can't stop crying.

  • i had to whatch this in citesonship in year 9, this is one of the most draumatising films i have ever scene, there was just so much shock in some scenes, like this with the mother being killed, once more to think this really hapened, its shocking, and if that wasen't enough some of the people in this film were the surviers of the attacks of which this this film was based.

    fantastic film.

    matt :)

  • Wow, I worked 11 years as a medic in the military and just saw this movie again after a long time. This scene gave me goosebumps!

  • and a bit more of trivia , in films the UN forbids the use of any explicit violence beeing taken by them meaning in films you will never see a UN soldier firing his weapon or any sort of combat so it wont polute their reputation as a organization alike the Red Cross . UN soldiers use blue helmets to be seen clearly avoiding concealment so they wont be considered as a threat or a figthing unit . Even thou UN as a presence in all major warzones , they are never at war with anyone .

  • the mother in the beginning made me choke back tears... i just keep asking myself.. why?why?why god, why? in real life there is no soundtrack there is no music to make the situation seem calm in the chaos. there is only guns shots, blood, screams and the sound of death

  • .. and fyy , nothing was ignored by UN , but they butt out until called . If a diplomat , a counsul , someone with power in a given countrie , calls for UN assistance in peacekeeping affairs , they will show up and resolve it as best as they can . Until then , they stay away because they have no authorithy . This sort of ideal avoids further violence and keeps the ones that are safe , safer .

Thats their main concearn , is keeping the ones that are alive , living .

  • i never thought of it that way. i saw this movie and i didn't rlly think about the people that were living b/c of the UN. i was thinking that they werent rlly doing anything when they rlly were. ur very smart to think of it that way

  • you see the woman beeing taken down brutaly but lots more made it to the other side of the fence and their all guarded by UN its actually very accurate the logistic part of UN is to provide basic services like housing food water medical and safeguard ofc in films you only see the drama aspect in real life i believe that many ppl were rescue and kept safe by UN since they were formed bck in the 90´s

ofc they cant rescue all of them

And its not beeing smart just trivia but tks anyway

  • the UN only protected them until crunch time came. did u see this movie? am sorry to spoil the ending for people here but the UN abandons them. therefore yes the UN can provide food, shelter but it cannot provide security.

  • @LUVFAMILIA Maybe not in this case due to politics , but im sure that in many other cases they served their purpose to the end .

  • give me an instance where they fought? even the belgian soldiers in rwanda were captured without a shot fired. furthermore they cause this to an extent, you bring guns, armored personnel carriers and fancy uniforms, you then incite confidence in the locals of your cause to protect them, they flock to you when civil strife breaks out, you abandon them, they are then brutally killed

  • i beg to differ bro. the UN strives to do the best it can but the laws by which it is obliged to abide by disable it from doing so. the ideology of peacekeeping is flawed to its core because what do you when war or in this case genocide breaks out? there is no peace? then what? it is a useless organization and the UN in itself is just representative of a mindset 2 gud 2 b true, the one where the whole world unites, mankind as one! too righteous for us

  • Every one felling bad about all this violence , dont forgett , american politics in 3rd world countries often creates this sort of political unrests , wich lead to ultimate violence and ethinic cleansings . Most of the times is UN that goes in and cleans the mess they made . (eg mogadishu) .

How dare they make a film about suffering in 3rd world countries . When its USA that in many occasions creates such violence .

How dare they show theese sort of images to the world .

  • How can you say "it's the USA that in many occasions creates such violence". U better elaborate a little more on what you mean by thAT!!!

  • well most of the 3rd world countries , speacially in Africa , are run by Military groups , some of them extreme communist totalitarian regimes . its american foreign policies to push these countries into democracies . so in many cases , its USA political pressure in these countries that starts tribal or civil war . ending in genocides and ethnical cleanses .

e.g. Sommalia . civil deaths escalated to more then 200k before u ppl went in and after usa left , NATO still remained cleannig up !!

  • So sad =..(

what was even sadder was that the UN ignored it... imagine how many other things are ignored

  • omg that mother at the beginning made me choke..

  • i love father christopher played by john hurt, if only there were more people like him

  • this is a sad film and even more sad that it happened for real

  • Never fails to make my cry.

  • Brilliant acting! Brilliant film!

  • Watched it in RME I almost cried ):

  • Amazng video, makes you think.
