  • wow thats a lot of danios....my guppies wont quit breeding! lol...i tried this method with neon tetras and danios but they keep dying every time i put them in a tank setup like this :/

  • How often do they breed? I'm looking for a live food source for my fish. I still cant decide if I should go guppies or danios.

  • @p10ghost i would get danios, condition them for one week and they breed more often than guppys allso guppys are boring so...

  • I really appreciate the amount of work you put into making this video. A lot of other people never follow up on their "How to" videos on breeding fish.

This method also worked for me when I tried breeding my Glofish.

  • all that just for fish food

  • How do I distinguish between male and female?

  • @Fx4Ranger2002 same here

  • Could I just put my danios in a breeding container that hooks onto the tank or would I have to do eat u did ????

  • How do you get them larger and ready to breed? Do you just feed them alot?

  • What do you do with them when they're all older?

  • @etanico They all became fish food for my bass. Circle of life.

  • @Hydroars hey man i'd buy goldfish for food and sell the babies to a local pet store. I've made over 100 dollars in 3 months off of them!!!!

  • dose this breeding tecknek work every time?

  • i got 1 danio from earl mays or w/e the other day.....when i first got it the stomach was normal but it seems like it got all big out of no where....so does that mean its a female ready to like have babies? or does it need the male to do that orrrr?!?!

  • i have 8 glo fish in 1 tank will they breed or do they have to have warm water or something???

  • how many Females and Males do you put in the breeding tank ?

    3 females and 1 male?

  • what do you feed your fry? they're so tiny!

i have 5 zebra danios in my main tank and they're ALL chasing each other lol.

  • my danios live in coldwater, to get them to breed successfully, could i just put in a little warm water into another tank? also, are they able to breed at any time of the year?

  • what do you do with all the extra danios?

  • im having problems keeping them above the screen...i set my tank up just like you have yours and i have it tight against the side and they still get under it. did you have that problem

  • a truly great video

  • What do u do with the new fish sell them if so where do u sell them

  • pretty boring fish

  • What tempreture is it at

  • wow many thanks for your vid its help me to breed thim....

    have a nice day

  • What do you feed the fry?

  • How are the parents conditioned?

  • Hi, I have some 2 day old fry and bought the liquid food. How long should i wait to feed them

  • omg there are sooo many of them... they still alive? did you plan to keeping all of them? they prob gone now but just wanted to kno...

anyways.. got to ask you do you think danios school tightly in a tight school?

  • @Hydroars I have never seen eggs with my Zebra Danios. Is it because they've eaten them?

  • I just did this tonight (December 17th, 2010) only my tank is full, heater on the side, the separator is in the middle, and my filter is a corner filter. I used yarn held down by a couple rocks. I put 4 leopards, 2 golds and 2 zebras in and I HAVE EGGS!!!

IT WORKS, THANK YOU FOR THIS IDEA!!

  • So do the females just hold thier eggs until you put them in with the males?

  • You mentioned conditioned. How did you condition them? and im not expert but how do you tell the difference between male and female?

  • @jerrybforl Just give them the best food you can find to condition them (live foods work well. And the best way is once the females get full of eggs, its hard to do otherwise.

  • What did you put on the filter so they dont get sucked up?

  • Is there a way to keep them from having so many babies?! I don't want the danios to fill my tank.

  • I have a pregnant danio, do I just move it to a seperate tank by itself or do I still need to put it with another male so it can fertilize the eggs?

  • you can probably sell those babies to a pet store and make some decent money.

  • how do you tell the difrints

  • This is a great video! Thanks!

  • how do the males fertilize the eggs if they go through the mesh or do they fertilize them as they chase around the female and as the eggs drop out of her?

  • wow you made that look incredibly easy. I got a free 40 gallon tank, I'm putting my fish from my 10 gallon into it. I have 5 danios, only schooling fish I have so I was going to try and attempt to do this so I can get a sweet school going. Instead of buying them just reproduce!

  • Excellent vid! They grow so quickly! How long on average does it take for a danio egg to hatch?

  • How do u tell the male from the female? Pls reply.Thank You !

  • how big are the eggs? and also how do the males fertilize the eggs,as in, do the males need to fertilize the eggs a soon as they come out of the female or do they have to be kept under the mesh for a bit and then let the males fertilize the eggs or something coz im not sure???

  • how is the male supposed to fertillise the egg if it goes fown the mesh?

  • what do u feed the fry

  • how many litres should i use for a breeding tank for zebra danios would 15 litres be enough for 2 danios?

  • very impressive!

  • Hi, very nice video, can you please tell me where did you get the mesh from and what is the material called ?

  • @Sabanaseer it acult cross stitch mesh i dnt know what country ur from but i got mine from spotlight :)

  • Will the adults eat the fry or only the eggs?

  • @LilKolo523 if the adults can get to them they will eat the egg's and the fry

  • do you think this method could work with neon or lemon tetras cause i wanna try to breed them

  • what kind of plants do you have in there?

  • @desparza28 Its an Anubias nana. I just used the rock it was attached on to hold the mesh down.

  • @Hydroars hey the net thing that the eggs go threw? wherd i get it from i live in england :S

  • Do they have a specific time of year they breed?

  • @zorzay22 Not as far as I know. As long as you keep the water warm they should be ready to go all year.

  • Hi i dont hae 2 tank so i bought a breeding net... So i put some marbles in the bottem... And put my pair in there yesterday... And she is still fat.. What now????

  • great vid very impressed im going to use this method when i go to breed my zebra danios. any good tips on sexing them

    5/5

  • @sickdude0123 Sexing them isnt all that hard. Just start feeding them a lot of brine shrimp or blood worms and look for the ones with growing bellies, those are the females. You will see, its pretty obvious. The males will also get a little golden on their ventral side. Once you think you identified a female seperate her, if you dont she will spawn with the males and lose her belly, so that can get confusing.

  • @Hydroars thank heaps just one more question how big do they need to be before u can condition them. if it helps i have a video of mine its the updated one thanks again

  • Do you get the mesh material with the larger holes or the really small holes at Micheals? Great video by the way! Awesome Job, totally gonna try this. =3

  • @ChocolateGummie The holes are pretty small i guess. They just need to be small enough to keep the adult fish from swimming through. So whatever looks like it will work.

  • Ok w8

Let me get this i put the male and female in breaading net

  • @MrGlitchGlitchGlitch .......what? Im not sure exactly what you are asking. Conditioned males + conditioned females = fertilized eggs. The females arent ever pregnant, they always have eggs. You just need to get them to lay them. Just follow my vid man.

  • Hi HELP me pls my zebra is pregnet for about a week must o put her in my breeding net thing? How long will it be be4 she lays eggs pls help

  • WOW i reli cocked this up :L...catchin the fish was the hardest part, cos my tank has alot of ornaments and plants in, when i got them in, the mesh i had got *metal*, the female managed to get under it from a gap in the side, then after tryin to remedy it with gravel on the sides, the tank was dirty, cos the gravel hadnt been cleaned, a complete fail hahah...i might try again...any tips on catching the bastards out the tank?

  • @ClaudeyBoy Yeah, its tough with plants and stuff. You really need a couple bare tanks just for spawning purposes.

  • im tryin this tonight...when should i put my fish in the breeding tank? now, or this evening?

  • I have always done it in the evening.

  • hey where do you find that sponge for the diy filter and do you know how ofter they spawn??

  • great job Hydroars but i wonder if the aperture is too small coz if it's work with zebra i think it will work with rosy barb

  • how do u no if if its a boy or a girl?

  • Probably the easiest way is to start feeding them really well. Brine shrimp, blood worms, not flake. Assuming they are mature the females are impossible to miss. They will get huge bellies and the males stay skinny. The males also get a slight gold/yellow tint to them.

  • Oh, and what did you do with all the fry?

  • Fed them all to my bass and bluegill, lol. Sucks to be at the bottom of the food chain.

  • I'll have to try this...thanks.
