  • Thanks for the vid on the Salary.

  • Thanks for this idea. I've never thought about freezing celery. Whenever I buy celery I end up using a little bit of it and the rest goes to waste. Next time I'll freeze it.

  • @imstillworkin , yeah just put the rest in ziplocks and use later for soups, works like a charm..:)

  • when the celery grows does it take alot of space or do the stalks stand up straight? i've never planted it too afraid i'd ruin it somehow because of how long it takes. would it die over winter or could it be mulched?

  • @califree01 , Hi, it really doesn't take up much space at all I planted mine in a small maybe 4 ft roll, they probably get at a guess around 12 inches wide but I suppose this can vary on location, temps and so on.. I have to wait and see if it will winter here some say zone 5 and warmer, this is my first year of growing .. all you can do is try .. and see how it goes on your end.. hope this helps!

  • Thanks for sharing.

  • Looks simple enough, but I have a slight problem. I've never grown celery before ! We do use it in soups and stuff, and it even makes its way into some salads. Anything you can do to preserve the fresh taste of the garden is always a good idea. ;-)

  • @mhpgardener , was my first year to grow it.. pretty easy it seems.. just needs more time to grow than other plants.. good seeing ya Bobby! have a good weekend, can't wait to see how the greenhouse is coming along..

  • Ok thats fine. Thanks! Have a good night!

  • @Incredibleisaac2 , you too!

  • Ok last thing. Do you still get in touch with Yolanda Vanveen? When I was watching one of her videos, I saw you left a comment so I checked out your channel and liked it. Anyways, If you do get intouch with her, can you tell me how?

  • @Incredibleisaac2 , she is just an acquaintance.. share a common interest .. she is in the gardening world.. you can find her on twitter I am sure..

  • Ok I`ll wait patiently! lol. I am going to watch this video now. Saving the best for last

  • You can`t say the winners to the contest yet?

  • @Incredibleisaac2 , not till first week of December..

  • this is cool how we are having a conversation just like that! Alot of people take long to answer

  • @Incredibleisaac2 , you just happen to find me online.. I check my youtube quite often I am addicted..ha! have a good night..

  • thats ok. Your yt videos are alot better anyways!

  • @Incredibleisaac2 , thank you that kind of you to say..:)

  • Hey Diane! Can you go to your twitter and follow me? I just made my account. You are the first person that I followed!

  • @Incredibleisaac2 , I did but I don't use twitter much .. fb and youtube keeps me plenty busy.

  • I grew self blanching celery for the first time this year. I used a white shade cloth over 6 plants and nothing over the other 6. The covered ones did alittle better than the ones in direct sun. The water quantities were the same for each group.

  • @HELLCATZ2 , yeah I have read they like some shade.. so that would explain it, mine have mostly sun but next year will put them in a better location and see how it goes, thanks so much for coming by and giving that info.. :)

  • That will be great this winter and you know where it came from and how it was grown. My first time for growing celery too I was amazed at how easy it was to grow.

  • @dalecalder2003 absolutely Dale, and it was really easy , even from seed.. :)

  • Try taking a straw and putting it into the ziplock bag and sealing the bag around the straw. Then suck the air out and seal the bag the rest of the way as you remove the straw. That works for me!

  • @cfenster , I have seen people doing this and should try it seems easy enough.. thanks!

  • Diane, My wife freezes a lot of stuff but she uses Zip Lock Vacuum bags. She hasn't done celery but she's done peppers, corn, okra, tomatos, and anything else that I can't talk her into canning. Everything comes out great and NO ice crystals. Thanks for the vids. very informative.

  • @satx110740 , thank you for the suggestion.. I am a freezer too! I will have to look for them~! :) thanks for stopping by!

  • @dianemummvideos The Zip Lock Vacuum bags and Pump, best price, are at Wal Mart. Close to the paper products and other storage bags. 12 qt. size for less than $3.00. Gallon same price for 8. The straw may work But ... Joseph

  • @satx110740 , thanks for that info really appreciate it.. I'll check that out asap.. :)

  • I think I have some Celery seeds. Going to plant it next spring. That looks so fresh. Better then the stuff you buy in the store. What will you use the leaves for. Vegetable Stock? Nicely done Diane.....Paula

  • @Allen2045 , yeah I just put the leaves in soups too, gives great favor.. and thank you Paula..:)

  • Glad it worked out great. I like to freeze things too, as opposed to canning. I might try celery next year.

  • @loislaney23 , yeah freezing just is quick, and these days I like that.. you should Lois , give it a try.. something different anyway this was my first time of growing it, germed well too from seed.

  • Celery is one thing I really want to put in the garden this coming spring. I use celery every day. Where did you by your seeds or did you buy the plants?

  • @lauriegirl2 , I just got mine locally here at a farm store.. I did grow from seed it worked pretty well but I am wondering if there is a few types of it cause the one I have seems very different than stored bought, but stills smells and taste of celery ..

  • @lauriegirl2 , also it takes 3-4 months I believe to achieve maturity , mine didn't as you can see but still have some in the garden growing I am hoping they get bigger..
