My first experience with VWs (of many) was with one of these, it had some rust issues in the channels so we had to sell it before it went Herbie on us. It was a good car though.

I remember when he was on one of those TV variety shows in the late 60s that featured a rock band with long hair. He looked at them, and said: "My luck. Hair comes back in style (removes hat to reveal his bald head) and I run outa merchandise!".

A wonderful, funny, and unique performer. As Groucho once said "Jesus, he was great!"

This is one of Jimmy Durante's last appearances. It was filmed in 1973...a year after he suffered a stroke (1972) and was confined to a wheelchair.

Jimmy was a trooper until the end!
