That's such a funny reaction! What a cute dog! I've had four weiner dogs. A few of mine have been quite possessive of their bones or toys, including my Frankie who died a couple of years ago at 18 y/o. Last year, I adopted a black and tan senior weiner rescue who was saved from death row at the pound. The vet thinks he's about 13 y/o. He has no teeth, cataracts, and arthritis. He's the most mellow weiner dog ever, but don't mess with his "baby" (favorite stuffed animal)!!
I'll leave a comment as I own a wonderful dachshund who is MUCH MORE LAID BACK than your mean little dog. Mine WILL NOT growl at its owner or a friend that gets near its treat or bone. We have trained our dog NOT TO DO THAT. The way it acts is a reflection on YOU. YOU are a bad dog owner.

We got a male dachshund named Pepper, he was a sweetheart, he never bit anyone, loved to go for walks and hated his collar being off because he loved the sound his tags made. Our third dachshund Lucky is a boy too. He's just like Pepper was except he hates wearing a collar so we only put it on when he goes to the Vet. He HATES going for walks on the leash. Put it on, and he rolls on his back and won't move.

I have a video somewhere that shows my mini-doxie dressed up for Halloween in a "demon" costume--red hoodie with black horns. He's chewing on a rawhide so he growls (like a demon) when the camera comes in close. I'll see if I can find it and post it. Very hilarious and cute.

yeah. weiner dogs are like this. my mini daschund named molly is obsessed over her hot dog, and whenever i tried to take it from her she growls barks and flips the fuck out...but as soon as i take it from her she starts licking my face being sweet. best dogs ever.
My Buster has never shown an aggressive side. He isn't feisty, nor does he have a mean bone in his body. The only time he has ever shown his "dark side" is when another male came around when my female Betty was in heat. Then the little bastard is mean as hell. Other than that, he is a mellow lap dog, unless I grab a tennis ball. Buster loves to fetch tennis balls.
well if i take my dog's bone he just looks at me like WTF???? and tilt his head and then try to get it and when i go to give it back to him; he will either snatch it or easily take it.. depends on his mood....rascal and his mood swings.. :D but i love him
Ok so, here's the deal. I have a younger dachshund and we also have a lab.When he wants some scraps, he'll growl this same way at her, and she's 10 times his size. It's said that they are the most aggressive dogs in the world. And heck, what would you do if you really wanted that bone and growling was the only way of telling them? You'd growl wouldn't you!
That's the same look my mini doxie gets when she drives larger dogs out of the yard. She does not bark or even growl. She will stand there stiffly, tail erect, and just stare at the offending dog. If they walk away she will stand there until they are gone. If they act scared and run she gets mad and starts barking. it's as if she hates dogs that are not as bold as she is.
I have 2 dachshunds one male and one female and they both do that if you try to take their toy or bone when they are zoned in on it. really all dogs will do this. Love Thy Weiner!!!! LOL

I have 3 dogs, 2 full blooded doxies and 1 chiweenie. There's a kid who lives around here and he will try to antagonize my dogs when we're out walking. When he messes with them, I let the retractable leash out just enough to get the kid screaming and running in the other direction.
Oh my gosh! My 4 year old dachshund is the same way with EVERYTHING. Even if it's a ziploc bag. Except she lunges at you and will take a finger off if you ain't quick enough.
We have two huge labs and huge boxer and yet they're scared of her.
She also is an outside dog. Never been inside except when she was a baby.
She also ALWAYS runs away into some local woods. Only to return an hour later.(We seriously live out in the middle of nowhere)

Roll him onto his back and tell him NO! Our mini doxi is not allowed to growl at us and if he does he is punished (gets sent to his room, he doesn't like being kept away from people), he gets very possessive of his toys and bones but we teach him to be gentle and that even if we take a toy away he'll eventually give it back.

This wiener dog is fine. He's just trying to buffalo you so you don't steal his bone. On the injury or bite list dachsunds are near the bottom on doing any damage to humans. Dachshund owners know what I'm talking about. These dogs are very proud but not dangerous.
My dog has a bone like that and he is a beast with it! He growls at anyone who tries to takes, but he has never biten any of us and he loves to cuddle.

Our weiner dog turned into quite a summer sausage too, despite feeding her only the choicest organic doggy food, and putting her on many doggy diets. I think it's something about dachshunds, whether you feed them too much or not, they will find food somewhere and they'll get plump!

@bowow0807 He was overweight at this point. We had another weiner-dog at the time who was SUPER possessive, so it caused Scooter (the dog in the video), to eat a bunch and gain weight (as he tried to eat all of the food before the other dog). We gave the other to another family, and he's back to normal now.
aw he looks just like mine, she is also very protective of things like last xmas she was guarding my sister's stocking when molly one of our other minis came over to see what's going on maggie attacked so 2 speak. i have 3 minis so i know how possesive they are over anything.

i had a black and tan dachsund and he was super protective of his "pig ears" dont give a dachsund one of these ur askin to lose a finger but he died when i was 12, now im 14 and i have an english cream pibulb and a regular english cream they r both one of a kind and only 5 other dogs of the same type are located in indiana

I love it! I have a red mini rescue who was a year old when I got him. I had to give him a valium (yes, prescribed by vet), use a muzzle AND wrap him in a towel to trim his nails! He'll let me do most things now but still he'll not only steal the other dogs' bones, he'll snarl just like that when I take some away for their rightful owners. He's positive he's a Rhodesian Ridgeback.
he's just food aggresive i have the exact same weiner dog and he growls like crazy and when you get to close he bites me,well at least he threatens to bite me
don't let him away with that or the cuteness of it turns into a dog who might bite someone, as an owner of 3 I make that priority because it would be heart braking to have to do something with your dog who is a part of you family.
mine died at the age of 13, that was 2009 & i still miss her..

my weiner dog is like no other.when we first got him, he thought i was his mommy so i basically care for him. there are 2 children in our familie and loves us all. hes like an extra little baby in the family. also hes a lap dog. hes not that protective. @starshield122

Roll him onto his back and tell him NO! Our mini doxi is not allowed to growl at us and if he does he is punished (gets sent to his room, he doesn't like being kept away from people), he gets very possessive of his toys and bones but we teach him to be gentle and that even if we take a toy away he'll eventually give it back.

This wiener dog is fine. He's just trying to buffalo you so you don't steal his bone. On the injury or bite list dachsunds are near the bottom on doing any damage to humans. Dachshund owners know what I'm talking about. These dogs are very proud but not dangerous.

people are so freaking critical in their comments! My weiner dogs are old and socialized, and if I try to take a bone they "warn" me just like this, but never bite. People overreact to things like this. No dog is going to be perfectly fucking docile, dogs have instincts dumbasses

Our weiner dog turned into quite a summer sausage too, despite feeding her only the choicest organic doggy food, and putting her on many doggy diets. I think it's something about dachshunds, whether you feed them too much or not, they will find food somewhere and they'll get plump!

@bowow0807 He was overweight at this point. We had another weiner-dog at the time who was SUPER possessive, so it caused Scooter (the dog in the video), to eat a bunch and gain weight (as he tried to eat all of the food before the other dog). We gave the other to another family, and he's back to normal now.

aw he looks just like mine, she is also very protective of things like last xmas she was guarding my sister's stocking when molly one of our other minis came over to see what's going on maggie attacked so 2 speak. i have 3 minis so i know how possesive they are over anything.

i had a black and tan dachsund and he was super protective of his "pig ears" dont give a dachsund one of these ur askin to lose a finger but he died when i was 12, now im 14 and i have an english cream pibulb and a regular english cream they r both one of a kind and only 5 other dogs of the same type are located in indiana

I love it! I have a red mini rescue who was a year old when I got him. I had to give him a valium (yes, prescribed by vet), use a muzzle AND wrap him in a towel to trim his nails! He'll let me do most things now but still he'll not only steal the other dogs' bones, he'll snarl just like that when I take some away for their rightful owners. He's positive he's a Rhodesian Ridgeback.
