I remember in the 3rd grade at bluford mr B would always give out pez candy dispencers and he collected them too, I didn't know what was wrong with him but in 5th grade he was in a wheel chair and always came to teach us love you mr b!
Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) aka: Lou Gehrigh's disease, is a relentlessly progressive paralyzing disease - most patients die within 2-5 yrs.
ALS is a death sentence w/no end in sight & the only way to further push for research is to get the word out. There is no known cure for ALS, but you can easily bring a thousand people the seed of hope.
PLEASE HELP SPREAD PUBLIC AWARENESS IN THE FIGHT AGAINST ALS AND HELP STRIKE OUT AND DEFEAT ALS.
this is a really fucked up disease my dad died with this on sept. 9 2009 and I dropped out of school to take care of him I pray that nobody else has to deal with this but the sad truth is some people will and I hate it I dont understand why really good people have to have this happen to them but I pray for everyone affected by this
@hutter2006 Are you a complete idiot!!!!!! ALS is a horrible disease. You cant' talk, eat, swallow, walk, cry, laugh, blink!!!!!!!!! These are the things that end up happening to you !!!! IDIOT!!!!!!!!!! If you had Alxheimer's you wouldn't know anything was wrong with you!! But. you would rather have ALS !!!!!!!!! STUPID IDIOT!!!!!! If you give half a shit try reading about it BEFORE you make comments like that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@hutter2006 IDIOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT BEFORE YOU SAY SOMETHING LIKE THAT!!!! YOU WOULDN"T BE ABLE TO WALK<TALK<BLINK<LAUGH<CRY<OR BREATHE!!!!!!!!!!!!
@alsguru you're right. i wasn't thinking straight. i guess it is bad as alzheimer's disease. come to think of it. i don't want to get any of these diseases at all. i hope there is a cure for it out there somewhere.
what a couragous person, I really am sad to hear of his passing. Makes me mad that people who aren't even sick all they do is complain and the people are really sick, have so much courage and strength.
southernstar, I couldn't agree more with you. I lost my brother a year ago to this and I can't stand listening to people complain about a little ache.....drives me crazy!!
I'd like to point out for people who don't know about ALS "It can also cause paralysis and death." There should be no can also in that sentence, ALS always leads to death. RIP Joe. My mother lost her battle to ALS after a year and a half, April 27th 2009, two weeks ago. We need to find a cure.
This disease makes me sure there is no god. Long live evolution and stem cell research, not some bogus sky jockey who would never allow such atrocities if he was real.
go 2 bluford elementary and im 10 yrs old ive heard so many great things baout mr.b and i was so said that he died.i dint even know him.i put myself as 21 on youtube but im 10 i got to bluford elementary but since he dies he is ina better place know (heavan)
What an awesome teacher that has contributed so much to Guilford County Schools.....May God Bless him and never take his hand off of his life. From one teacher to another teacher...Be blessed!
I honor Mr. B. for his triumph, I learned today that my mother was diagnosed with ALS today. Even crying, i'm trying to learn everything about it. Mr. B. Godspeed, I hope all is well.
Mr.B. Like you I was a teacher in a HS in Brooklyn NY (brooklynHS) for 34 years and had to retire because of advanced Multiple Sclerosis now I was dx with MND but not ALS.

I have known Joe since the '80's. Although we lost touch through the years, he has always been one of my favorite people to know.
He always had a smile on his face and his spirit was and still is infectious. The laughs that he's brought to his friends are too many to count.
I had dinner with Joe after he had been diagnosed, and he was handling this with incredible grace.
If ever there was a case of something very bad happening to someone very good, this is it.
