Thanks feministing for posting these. I keep typing in feminism and femion the youtube site and can't exactly find too many videos with a postive view of feminism which tends to make me feel a little depressed. So, after all my searching and only finding the negative its really nice to watch something intelligent to give me, and other fans, a feelings of power and hope as opposed to all the loss and hopelessness the media and so many idiots on youtube like to carry out.
Excellent response! I especially loved your points about abortion. I was similarly baffled by Heidi's claim that apparently young women don't care about reproductive rights and that older women who do care don't need to heard. Discussion of reproductive rights and the policies that influence them ought to be firmly rooted in women's lived experiences, not those of the white male elite (or their "c'mon, ladies, you don't really care about this issue" apologists).
The fact is that women are more likely to sympathize with the pro-life side than men are. Virtually every scientific poll on abortion that collects data on gender and opinion says that. That, and the up-and-coming generation is less "pro-choice" than the last one. Within a few decades abortion will be going into the trash-dump of history, along with slavery and segregation. And there's nothing you can do about it.
That, and the up-and-coming generation is less "pro-choice" than the last one.
--------------
That's cuz the pro-choicers DON'T PRODUCE, while the pro-lifers do. Anyways, the pro-choicers are hyprocrites anyways. Why? Ever notice that EVERY single person who is pro-abortion were actually BORN?
That makes no sense whatsoever! I'm pro-choice and a mother of two. My brother's pro choice, he's a father of three! Just because we believe abortion should be a legal option doesn't mean we'll never have children.
Pro-choice doesn't mean "every pregnancy ever must be ended with abortion," it means "considering that a woman owns her own body, she should be free to make whatever decision regarding its use." Some women, even pro-choice women, choose to have children. Women don't always have to be forced into it.
Besides, it's not as if political beliefs are genetic. My mother is one of the most pro-choice people I know (see, a pro-choice mom), and yet, neither of her parents were.
Thanks, Jen. Heidi Harris is the one without a brain. I can think of multiple examples of women between the ages of 18-39 (generally defined as reproductive age) who CARE about their right to control their own bodies and who CARE about the fact that we are no more than one neocon activist judge away from the government controlling women's reproductive lives.
Thats right baby!!!!! You tell it like it is!!!! Sharp and right!!!! Stay smart ladies, lets get this moving!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU FEMINISTING!!!!!!
Isn't it crazy that we aren't going to support a party that would like to keep us making less money to the dollar then men. And that a least 50% of women and there children live in poverty while Bush and rep were trying to pass a bill where men would pay less for child support. Thanks for adding to feminist views when there seems to be very little out there.
OMG, that makes me sick that a woman would say stuff like that!!! You girls are awesome by the way. Keep up the good work! I'm so happy I came across your videos...
I'm 14 and I care a lot about women rights on abortions! That bitch should go to hell.
