Seen her perform this live on SNL, Onyx Hotel Tour and a snippet right here on this ABC speical. if she was singing this live she would have emphasized the start of the words in the beginning. Because the tone of her voice is much deeper than what they have her singing in the studio. Their able to tweak her voice and they make her use the baby voice because it sounds more "pop". So when she sings live, she has to try and match the tone they have her singing in the studio. That's why she doesn't sound too great. Her real voice is much deeper (star search and MMC). Using the baby voice too much can be stressful on the vocals which is probably why she doesn't sing often.

OMG! EXACTLY! That explains some of the audible changes in her voice in Circus(...in addition to getting older.) I'm glad she didnt use that "baby voice" on that record and that shes true to herself! But in the vid, I can hear her singing along, but I guess it hurt to much to sing that night cause in the Onyx tour u could tell she was straining her voice...and now i know why!

She has used the "baby voice" on every record so far. She's had one or two songs on each record where she sings with a deeper tone which she is able to sing live but hasn't used her "real" voice. It's a shame. I remember an interview where she said she would love to have a voice like Christina's (Aguilera) and I just don't get it. Because she does have a voice like Christina's. If only they would experiment with it on a future album.
