Thanks. I learned it by watching and listening to Tommy's videos. It's not really a difficult one to learn by ear. Listen to the bass line first, then add the melody. Then the thumbpick smack. Then the subtle details. Then the...

Fantastic cover! If I had one criticism it would be to crisp-up the high notes and slam the low E string to get that "drummer" sound along with the bass sound. TE clicks his thumbpick right on the pickup -- you hit it right there at the end of the song. BUT, that is like picking fly poop out of the grain bin, there is alot of great music here! This vid will be featured on the Acoustic Virtuosity Archives (bigdood - playlists - Tommy Emmanuel Covers) due to the great quality of your rendition!

Thanks bigdood. When I listen back to it now I can hear that the melody notes need to be more pronounced. Not sure what you mean about hitting the thumbpick against the low E string, I'm doing that throughout the whole song practically. Harder, do you mean?

Yes, maybe it sounds good there in person, but the "whop" on the E string isn't translating to the recording. It's not bad, actually it was one of the few things I heard that was dissimilar to TE... about 98% of it was spot-on! :-)

I think at least part of that sound is coming from the huge PAs he plays through. If I hit the low E string any harder it would truly overpower the melody notes.
