Pretty good...but anyone can take the action-y shots from a movie and put them in a trailer. It could have really been superb if you had tried to craft a story.
haha... wow, goes to show you that I would probably watch any movie with a trailer this kick ass. I love the original Superbad, but this makes me wanna see this! Good onya, mate!
Great effort. Could use a little more "storyline," perhaps with captions, to explain what the overall "thriller" plot would be. (i.e. "Two boys, on a mission...that will make them...SuperBad!" or something like that, just to give it some direction) Great piece of music you came up with though, and great scene choices.
Sure. There's a lot of running and chasing in the film, specifically with the cops. Use those clips and compile them. Also, if you want music to use with your film, I'd check out the Corner Stone Cues. Good fast-paced music.
Cartographer doesn't touch Unearthed with a ten-foot stick. Unearthed is a near-flawless album, and Cartographer starts to lag in its second half. Unstoppable is awesome; if I were to do another recut trailer, I'd probably use it.
Fantastic. Pacing, scoring, clip selection; all immaculate.
Only one tiny issue: towards the end, when McLovin' walks into the parking lot, the clip you chose ends with a smile and a wave. That broke believability in the action premise for me... but only a miniscule amount. Still one of the best things I've seen on here. Kudos.
Thanks, BrokenDreamer. Yep, the idea was to make a believable action teaser; nothing too plot heavy, just, like the best trailers, something to make you go, "Awesome! I gotta see that!" Thanks a bunch for your compliments, my friend.
Great work man, but this sort of thing start to worries me. Even more, I talked about this sort of project with my teacher the other day, and she got scared and said "You're moving with your auntie and uncle in Bel Air."
Hey dude, that was awesome lol. It made me wanna go and watch superbad again. Just a few questions... I read that you used avid... Is it hard to use, because i wanna start editing, and stuff like that so i was just wondering... Also have you ever taken film classes. Sorry dont wanna make this sound weird lol... i know this is just comments.... O ya Great Vid. once again =)
It's no problem. I'm happy to answer any questions.
I found AVID extremely hard to use the first time by myself, hence why this trailer took hours to finish and still isn't perfect. But it's gotten easier since then.
Most people I know prefer Final Cut, but that's in my circle. The major difference is that AVID is keyboard-heavy while Final Cut uses the mouse a lot.
You know, I think this deserves a 3.5 out of 5. I think you could have used better text choices and transitions. Plus, there wasn't enough full frontal nudity.
Also, you posted this trailer as "approved for all audiences", but all of the vulgarity. It made my little brother cry.
Benjamin, Benjamin!! I should've known to put in some full frontal nudity for ya. ;-)
I edited this on an AVID, which I was using for the first time, so yeah, I wasn't quite familar with using text and transitions yet. I have since gotten better!
And I know very well that your younger brother is old enough to see R-rated movies at this point. XD
That whole scene is pretty intense, and the smashing bottle would have been excellent, but I couldn't think of a better closing shot than of Jonah Hill's "shocked" expression. I basically built the whole trailer from that one shot.
That was incredibly well done. A great example too of how a slightly different presentation can completely alter the meaning - and why sometimes films are so disappointing because we are promised something that they're not! Awesome.
Thanks for the comments, pharmacopaeia. My inspiration for making this came from the "Office Space" horror trailer, also on YouTube. The meaning of that movie is totally altered -- and I love every second of it.
so funny!

It's "Ashielf Pi" by E.S. Posthumus. From their amazing CD, "Cartographer."
RM18CPR 3 years ago
I could tell immediately. I have videos of Unearthed on my profile as well as some Cartographer on my computer.
Cartographer sadly does not sound as epic as Unearthed but Unstoppable is the best! :D
I still think Nara is the greatest song but whatever.
This is a fantastic recut ;)

I do wish I could've timed those fades better, so they didn't become overwhelming. Oh well, I guess that makes it all the more exaggerated. :)

onedarkflame666 3 years ago
Hey, how come? Superbad rules! It's out of my massive respect for this movie that I made the trailer in the first place!
Though, seriously... an action movie with Jonah Hill would be something else.
