This film misunderstood a real life event. Steve Jobs was abrasive in the incident, but he was not asking about someone's sex life or breaking EEO law, he was looking for "Code Virgins" (a Silicon Valley term) so that Apple couldn't be sued for violating patents. Apple needed employees untainted by handling IBM code/products. The guy was a tainted IBMer, he was unhireable for legal reasons. Check out PBS' "Triumph of the Nerds." It covers the reverse-engineering term, "Code Virgins."

So there is a necessity for code "virgins". A code "virgin" is someone who can duplicate the reverse engineered behavior of a competitor's code. So, someone's a "virgin" if he's never actually SEEN the code whose behavior he's duplicating.

So, Jobs is asking if this candidate has done any reverse engineering; he doesn't think the guy has.
