btw - this guys lessons are amazing. I actually paid for some of the downloadable lessons, but there is plenty of free stuff on Doug's site that is worth checking out and will keep you pickin' and grinning for weeks. :)
I think what your seeing is on the headstock in the middle? If so that is where you adjust the truss rod. The strings don't go in there they go back to the tuners. The truss rod has a hex fitting on it ( in the hole) and thats how you adjust the releif on the neck.
@midnightcowboyra thanks for responding. what i am looking at is by the bridge. you can clearly see it at the 2:01 time mark. it looks like its for the 3rd string and goes through the body but im not sure.
@clewi1091 Well its either the truss rod or the little spacer for the strings. Do a search on fender telecaster and look at some close up pics you should be able to tell then.;)
His telecaster has a b-bender. This is design feature that allows you to bend the B string a full step up simply by pulling up on the forward strap by pushing the neck down. There are mechanisms built through the body of the guitar that then pull the B string tighter to a precise tension equivalent to fretting the string 2 frets above the currently fretting note. It is similar in sound to a pedal steel guitar. Google B-Bender for more info. Similar function to a Hip Shot.

Is that a hole through the body by the bridge for the 3rd string? What does that do? Does it help with not breaking the string since its longer?

@midnightcowboyra i think this is something he added. its by the bridge so it wouldnt be a truss rod.
