Thats Crazy! All of my grandparents are from Azores, and I'm originally from Lowell MA and now live in FL too LOL. A lot people who migrate from Azores move to MA because I heard there was like a partner thing. Eh I don't know much about it but I know thats why there are so many portuguese people in MA.

Just returned from Sao Miguel about 2 weeks ago. Pictures do not do this place justice. As someone already mentioned, you just have to experience it for yourself. The peacefulness, the fresh air, the laid back lifestyle....

Yeah, I live there, in Ponta Delgada... It's such a beautiful place to live...

The only problem is that u are isolated from the rest of the country... like, for example, if you want to go from Lisbon to Porto, that's 300KM... you just pick up the car and goodbye! Talking about here, he are at 1200KM from the rest of the contry and separed by half of atlantic ocean... so, the only whay to do that is by plane and not everybody have got money to do that... :-(

Some people speculate the azores are the mountain tops of the lost continent of atlantis which is kinda cool to think about.

The Azores are some of the most beautiful islands in the world. There are flights that leave directly from Boston to the Azores. It only takes 5 or 6 hours to get there, and in the Winter you can get a round trip ticket for $300.00. but However, I would only recommend going there in the Summer months, because you can see the lakes much better without the fog from the top of the mountains. I miss the Azores!

Por um lado tens razão. Eu sou da Terceira e também tenho que fazer um grande sacrificio quando vou ao Continente. No minimo são 274€ só para passagens.

Mas na minha opinião, se os preços estiverem demasiados baixos, vai dar lugar a turismo de massas e sinceramente essa não é a melhor escolha.

É que aí, perdemos a identidade.

Quem quer descansar e ver o tempo a passar lentamente vem aos Açores, quem quer confusão e alta diversão, olha por exemplo o Algarve.
