@ELITE397 I stongly disagreee. OpenArena has a refreshing view though being the same game. It dropes the heavy overtone with humor (when u play with bots just check the chat). Plus it does not nedd an installation and so it does not have problems that concern the browser ( like quake live).

@hasirpker For one, learn to speak English. Two, if it wern't for the original creators of this game (id, I mean), then those two games that you did mention would have never existed. Three, just because a game has crappy graphics doesn't mean it sucks (DOOM, for example). Four, the modern shooters will never compeate with classic shooters.

if you like assault cube or urban terror or counter strike and you try out this game, you will own. i have played for 1 day (open arena) and i came in first for 8 games with 50 kills. in ac ut and cs you can look around faster so you get good reflexes. in this you move fast and look around kinda slow so it seems way easy to play this its sooo fun though

Make sure you download TRUE COMBAT for this game to.

Its a free mod for q3.openarena and is VERY realistic. No one online but it has pretty good bot support.

@StMuttley Hell no! There's a HUGE difference, modern fps games these days are made so it'll help the least experienced win more. In Quake 3, you GOTTA focus or else you WILL lose, Quake 3 is basically a challenge, and Q3A also has a less chance of lag than Quake Live. Also what REALLY pisses me off is that there's no gibs or tons of blood on quake live, just these gay pixie spark things that are just plain fucking ugly! STAY AWAY FROM QUAKE LIVE!

hmmm i suppose so, there are definately way more veterans on quake 3 but also if your like me and running on vista, quake 3 becomes intensley laggy with people warping all over and it can get really annoying. ive played quake 3 for years now and it is nice to play quake live cause you can turn the depth of view and everything like that easily. i understand where your coming from though, quake 3 is more challenging but for someone starting out on quake id reccomend them use wuake live

The main reason to play Quake Live: Populated servers.

I've pretty much tried them all, including stuff like True Combat: Elite which barely anyone but a dozen people play anymore, and with Quake Live you never have trouble finding matches.

I like OpenArena better than AlienArena.

I've seen this exact same map in Nexuiz. The portal effects and blood aren't as impressive, but the physics in the engine appear to be a little better.

All in all, it's pretty good. I guess I could try it.

^^ Giirl gamer power ... im not a girl but its ok xD well.. it depends of the weapon or game lolz.. you have to try to go at the reverse of the recoil on the weapon your using. ex: cs:ak 47, when shooting start aiming downn because recoil will go up :D lets say thats a basic thing in those kind of.. fps games :D if i can help telle me lollz

Not better than Quake Arena in my opinion, there's something far less brutal about it. I think it's a combination of the ridiculous character and weapon designs, plus the new narrator. Feels like shooting nerf darts. Quake Arena is like doing the 100 metre sprint through a disco room in a rain of blood and body parts.

Still, more people seem to play Open these days, it's free after all.
