@MoonishDesire Make sure you click on the particular shape's layer. You may be changing the color of a seperate, hidden layer. Layers are very important.

@EpicWhomp Err, I know about layers. When I make the shape it doesn't create a new layer with the shape nor it draws on a layer. I just used the selection tool and achieved the same effects anyway.

@jeza4646 I have no idea how he does it, but my guess is he'll record himself doing it, explaining it briefly to get the timing right, then bin the audio and record a new voice over as it's playing back. That's how I'd do it anyway. It saves restarting because you screwed up your explanation while actually doing it lol.

Also, could you talk a little bit about adjustment layers? Whenever I try to add one to a specific layer, it applies the changes to all of my layers.

@RsTrustyTurkey Masks are the key here! Make a duplicate of the layer, then run a Gaussian blur on it (different amount depending on image size and the desired affect), then make a layer mask on that layer. Now, use the gradient tool (the one on the same button as the paint bucker), set it to "Black and White" and "Reflected", then drag it over the layer mask. Experiment until you get it the way you want it! You can also use big soft brushes too if you feel like doing it by hand.
