@richie2910 it did work, this scene is based off of an incident that actually happened in 1968 where a single person on a motorcycle dressed as a policeman robbed a bank truck carrying 3oku en or a current equivalent of about 3 million dollars in cash (that's in 1968 money so with inflation its actual value is quite a lot higher, probably closer to 300,000,000 dollars). the robber was never caught.
These days, Japanese style would be sending in a specially developed ASIMO robot (codenamed CRIMINO) equiped with a selection of firearms built into the limbs with the ability to recognise and prioritise parts of the body in order for a smooth theft :)
Takeshi Kitano is an auteur in the true sense of the word. His work is so easily distinguishable. What was the point of the retarded subtitles though?
Most of Takeshi's yakuza related films are quite good. I was not a fan of some of the American actors in Brother but it was still a good film overall.
Takeshi Kitano, he the man. I just love this bank robbery, and not a single word spoken. That painting of the sunflowers in the background at 01:20 I think was painted by Kitano because I know he painted some of the paintings in the film.
