  • I like the Adoration of the Magi Painting. So did most renaissance artists like Da Vinci use charcoal then paint over with oil to get the shape of their subject. I always like the contrast of the Renaissance artists used in their paintings. I love the drawings. Who was Leonardo's Master when he was younger?

  • and actualy venus was born out of the ocean when her father' genitals were ripped off his body and thrown into the ocean. good video. not very descriptive. but a good start...

  • The information below is from H. J. Rose "A handbook of Greek Mythology" p. 22.

  • Thanks for your challenge to my lecture. As it turns out we are both wrong. Aphrodite was born after Uranos was castrated by his son Kronos, when Kronos flung the severed member into the sea. The foam which collected around it became Aphrodite, in the magical way that things happned in those olden days. The drops of blood which fell from the severed member to the earth gave birth to the Eurinyes, the Giants and the Meliai, guardian nymphs of manna-ashes.

  • actually, venus was born from the sea god´s semen, which was actually made out of flowrers :)

  • Search/watch Mona Lisa baby before they remove it again

  • nice!

  • To answer your question, acerb etc, soft sloping shoulders were considered beautiful then, just as today a flat stomach and boyish or prepubescent figure plus plastic breasts are considered cool. However, soft, sloping shoulders are still considered today by some to be quite beautiful. And a woman is much more likely to possses these than the ridiculous requirements of today's fashionable bod.

  • @medievalartrat yes as well as at this time most paintings were based of classical myths. and the ideas of beauty were drastically different. ^ well put

  • why do the shoulders on female figures often seem drastically angled down? ....is it because corsets changed the rib structure causing the shoulders to dip that way??
