Is circumcision damaging? A part that should be there isn't there anymore, that in itself is pretty "damaging". As far as sex goes, my friends used to speak of how great the "banjo string" felt when stimulated. Considering mine was destroyed when I was 4 months old, I can only take their word for it, but all other things being equal, it hardly requires a large leap

It was coined by psychotherapist Peter Sifneos in 1973 to describe a state of deficiency in understanding, processing, or describing emotions. On another note, anti-circumcision seems to be going mainstream. I've been hearing people make well-founded arguments against it in the most unlikely of places - at work, playing games on yahoo, the dailymail.

People are waking up. In 2010 rates dropped to nearly %30 of the male population and continue to drop.

But now there is the problem of circumcised men realizing they've been harmed, and having to deal with the trauma. :-(

Great video! Reminds of a story I was told about a race of creatures who decided that baby toes were ugly, and began cutting them off all the newborns. They even updated their most sacred religious book to support it. One day a man said it was stupid, and he was cast out. Then three people said it was foolish -they were all burned to death. Then one of them created the internet and revealed that millions of people had already stopped doing it! It was eventually stubbed. Keep up the good fight!

Circumcision would not be an ancient rite of passage or initiation ritual for boys becoming men or a covenant ritual for Jews if it was not an immense sacrifice. By giving your infant boy to a rabbi and allowing his most sensitive body part to be mutilated you demonstrate that you are willing to go to the wall for the group and make any sacrifice. It would not carry so much weight if it was not so dramatic of a sacrifice.

We should remove babies' eyebrows so they look like Marylin Manson.

Unfortunately the damages which are created by circumcision do exist and facing such facts should make people change their view toward a reality in stead of the blind and cruel belief system that they are told to believe in that in reality only divides and punish man kind in stead of supporting nature and logic by protecting the integrety of children and unite all.

I feel that the root cause here is religion. Which also explains why America is so far behind the rest of the developed world on this issue. Most of them don't even realize that circumcision itself is a religious act and has little to do with cleanliness. They really are like sheep.

@Stokenut - If a parent decided to cut their son because they think it will help his future health, it is NOT about religion no matter how many people today or in the past did it for that reason. In the US, circumcision was started to prevent masturbation because it was thought BOTH to take you from god, and to be bad for health.

l agree with you. My dad was convinced by this jewish uncle of mine so he could circumcise me and the worse part is that l was 4 years old by the time he convinced me and even though my dad told me that it was for my own good l was so scared of going to the hospital and then l had to see my penis differently than the way l use to see it and get use to that, l was traumatized and l couldn't understand the reason why they had to do that to me.

@sarkerm2 Personaly I think many of those who defend it are scared. Perhaps scared to admit they have been hurt or that something valuable has been taken from them without their consent. I have no doubt that some people circumcised as adults are happier especially if they have been suffering medical problems. But doing this to a child is a different thing in my view, and it does end up hurting them more often than not

You might like to know that with an adult with a medical need: It turns out that in the USA doctors rush to circumcision far faster than European doctors do, who see total amputation as the last resort. There is also a surgical procedure that does not remove the entire foreskin. See "Preputial Plasty", if really necessary. But stretching WILL work, it just takes time. Consider how much skin can stretch, eg when you see photos years before someone became overweight.
