@noodles356 yes you can, gorilla tape is super super strong. It may wear down after a while but you can just make another one for almost free cuz you will already have the supplies!
@rmsolympic1 i wouldnt trust a handle, I bought a kettlebell for cleans and things that require a handle. I paid around $100 for a 35 lb bell but it was well worth it
thanks man! i was doing some spring cleaning the last few days and came across an old withered, deflated, and otherwise useless basketball of mine in an outdoor patio closet. already had a bunch of duct tape, etc. so all the med-ball conversion cost me was about $4 at home depot for 50# of pea gravel!
I'm sure you could use any type of ball you want as long as it's big enough to get up to the weight you want. Good video if you need a lot of medicine balls, might I add.
@johnnycake020 glad you liked it, mine has lasted since I made this video over 2 yrs ago and I use it daily, dont forget to subscribe and rate 5 appreciated stars! THANKS!
I do the same thing essentially with juggling balls. I only make two slits and the lift up the triangular section and insert the funnel. This allows me to close it up and seal it in such a way that my cut is nearly invisible. I then use epoxy to seal the slit.
Good job buddy, I did this with just two cuts, like half a square about 1.5 inches long each and just stuck a piece of cardboard like you did and filled it. Basically the exact same but I didn't trust the big hole !
I Just Made Mine It Weighs 27.4 Pounds I Used All Purpose Sand For Mine Since I Couldnt Find Any Pea Gravel At The Time And That Gorilla Tape Holds Up Perfect
Are u sure the big square hole u made will hold together?...for example if u smash the medicine ball on the ground several times as an exercise, will the sand not come out??....im only asking because i have seen other methods of making medicine balls which require using puncture repair kits which i would rather not use....please reply A.S.A.P as i will be trying to make my own medicine ball soon....p.s. thanx for the video!
Mine has held up since I made the video, Gorilla Tape is EXTREMELY STRONG, if you are nervous about it just don't make the hole as big and use a lot of tape. You will notice how strong the tape is when you handle it, it's extremely sticky and adhesive. Thanks for the inquiry and Good Luck~!
Hey thanx for the reply!, i will make a smaller flap. One more thing, can i use Duct tape instead of Gorilla tape? Cuz im from the UK and i have never seen Gorilla tape before. Do you think Duct Tape will hold up?....Im really basic at this kinda stuff. im basically a noob lol
Awesome!!! Thanks!!

Nice video - very clear, simple - and lo-cost. Is there a way to make these with a handle attached to them? Also, can they be painted?

@rmsolympic1 There's other ways you can construct a Kettlebell and it would be safer.

Can you use a different ball? Basketballs aren't much cheaper than a medicine ball, itself.

it looks like it gets slippery when sweaty ?
2trunks 2 years ago
sometimes it does, just use chalk and keep a towel handy. When its sweaty it helps with your grip, what doesnt kill you only makes you stronger.

duct tape should work, just use a lot of it, even if it does not, you will only lose about $4 haha

is pea gravel better than sand or does it matter
catchfree84 3 years ago
Sand can leak out easier and Pea Gravel is a little heavier.
koz1769 3 years ago
where can u find gorilla tape?
ascencio11 3 years ago
I got mine from Tractor Supply Company, but I'm sure Lowes or Home Depot Carries it :)
koz1769 3 years ago
Why do you say "you wanna get 2 strips of gorilla tape" instead of "get 2 strips of gorilla tape" etc? That just feels redundant.
Anyway, great guide to making an affordable med ball :)
CleverDjembe 3 years ago
this is probably a stupid question but... Does it still dribble? I wanna know, cause I wanna train my handles

no it will not... Sorry
