I`ve uploaded a few movies of some different cars on that "dyno". The version 2 is alot safer and better in every way. V3 is in the process. It has load cells etc.. Its ALOT safer, easier, better, etc etc to do the tune at that bus axle than at a public road =)
you should rig a torque converter to the drive truck u-joint
then you could measure the power and provide longer more manageable resistance.
check it out on flowbenchtech forums. they have a DIY section on water brake dynos and seeing as how you have everything but the torque converter, it would be easy.
@eagletalonpl yeah i know, there is alot of water in there, they're fine for a while, esp since there is snow everywhere and if they were to drive it, the air alone at <32 degrees would eliminate the need for a fan.
LS1 v8. From a 2004 Pontiac GTO :) guessing it makes 500 ish HP.. The main goal of the dyno is to make some resistance, so the car produses boost, and we can map it properly :)
The dyno and the car still works great. running on 0.5 bar boost. 11.5 afr. you where right i had to mount the lambda in the exhaust right after the turbo to get better readings after this video was made.

That looks really cool and fun and I think they could get some very useful data but having an absorber of some kind would be a lot better.

What are ridiculous Scandinavian stereotypes anyway?

This is just hilarious!!!
And running the turbo and intercooler INSIDE the car is actually a really good idea!

Yeah, you can adjust the bakes on the BUS axle to get more resistance. We mapped in winter time so no need for rad fan then.
The intake pipe runs by the gear stick yeah :P
puddingen 9 months ago
can that be anymore deadly ?

no fan for the rad?
eagletalonpl 9 months ago
@eagletalonpl it's an intercooler.
Andyterranbase1 9 months ago
@Andyterranbase1 i ment the front of that car broo the cars not moving and nothing cooling the rad it will overheat eventually
eagletalonpl 9 months ago
@eagletalonpl they're in like finland im sure they don't need to worry about that as long as the car isn't running for more than 30 minutes.

check out Ace Crankshaft videos for rear mounted turbo. 598 chevy 106 mm turbo in the trunk of an 87 Monte Carlo

Does the truck axle have brakes to provide more load? Is that an intake pipe running through the cabin on the S13? I'm so confused.
colinshark 9 months ago
@colinshark it has a rear mounted turbo lol

thank you so much. I have never laughed so hard in my life, yet I'm amazed that thing works

Seems awesome car to me.
Very interesting solution, but how did you calibrated dyno to get some meaningful readings?
atofinkelstein 9 months ago
@atofinkelstein dynos are for tuning. as long as the o2 sensors are working, its job is done

Lambda sensor will be reading oxygen as it's not right into the exhaust

@S1rst judging by the state of the car, I hardly think the "dyno" creating resistance is a high priority.

thats very cool but how in the hell is the intercooler working. wheres it getting its air from?!
demontweek 1 year ago
I have installed a fan underneath the intercooler and some ducting and som scoops from the side of the car.
