Watching this tribute to all of the great talents that truly shined in the "nhac tre"/ popular music scene back in Saigon prior to '75 really puts me in total awe. Such incredible talents!!! No wonder, most of the singers that we see featured in this documentary video clip were able to have such enduring, long-lasting careers as performers, i.e. Khanh Ha, Julie, Duy Quang, Thai Hien... Only a select few who are really gifted & blessed with such raw talents such as these artists we see here.

Nhạc trẻ miền Nam những năm 60-70 original ở trong cảm xúc, trong cách thể hiện. Những nghệ sỹ đã rất nỗ lực trong việc nắm bắt cái hồn của bài hát để không biến mình thành copycat.

This was the golden age of pop music in Saigon, so simple, but fantastic : guitars and drums are the best to perform. Those young talented singers and musicians then still the best : Jo Marcel, Thanh Lan, Tuan Ngoc, Elvis Phuong, Khanh Ha, Le Toan, Vi Van, Carol Kim and more . . .

These are the best videos for us to remember our pop music 40 years ago in Saigon.

Wow!!! I really enjoyed watching from Part 1-Part 4. I didn't even know there were so many bands existed back then. Thanx so much for sharing. BTW, do you have a song call "Mot Thoi De Yeu" by Thanh Lan? Please post it up because I couldn't get it anywhere.

I'm shocked at how good their English is considering it is the 70's. I guess it makes sense due to the American influence in South Vietnam.

I'm just so surprised that the music of this era is so good. I never really heard it before since they have never been released again. The original records are almost impossible to find.

i'm just blown away w/ all these talents! here's my glass raised way up high to all Nhac Tre Viet singers from that generation! 2bad i wasn't around yet, because I would have loved to be part of your audience then! It's amazing how well all of u could sing in English. Hate 2 say it, but it's rather pathetic how so many Viet singers today in my generation or younger can't sing in English worth SHIT even though they live here in the U.S. So here's another raised glass to everyone of u!!!
