I've never read the dark tower books, but i have read lord of the rings and imo this song is about lord of the rings. ive looked around and most of the clues can lead to either series, so its hard to tell

@JaceArveduin There are a lot of comparisons between LoTRs and DT, but the album itself, most of the songs are tributes to DT. Seize the Day is about Roland's Ka-Tet and the journey to the Dark Tower.. Although it does seem to somewhat fit LoTR too

Schaffer is actually IE's rhythm, not lead, but he might as well start calling himself lead. his riffs stand out much more than the "lead"s riffs, if you even want to call it that. at least they do in IE, I dunno about D&W. but yeah, schaffer is rhythm usually, not lead unless the album/single doesn't have a lead

I was under the impression that this whole album's based on The Dark Tower series of books by Steven King (books start with The Gunslinger). The songs are all relevant to them-he sings about Blain in Terror Train, sings about the Wicked Witch, The Gunslinger aswell as the Crimson King, it fits the Dark Tower series perfectly. I was also told this by a friend who knows a lot more about this band than I do. Awesome books by the way-epic journey, very easy to get into & I highly recommend them. :-)

That is true, every song on the album (with a couple of exceptions like Immigrant Song) is based on the Dark Tower series. And both the band and the series are amazing!

It's not only based on The Dark tower it's also based on The Lord of the Rings. The road goes on and on is a well known quote from LOTR and the western shore could refer to Frodo leaving from the western shore or Roland reaching the western shore. Also the fires of doom could refer to Mount Doom and the Tower well King's Dark Tower with it's eye of the crimson king is already heavily based off of the tower baradur and the eye of Sauron. Thus this song is about either Frodo or Rolands journey.
