Andrew Lloyd Webber is so great. i was skipping about youtube and found a bunch of interviews and behind the scenes on snapsnap and he just comes across so great.
@righty121 I completely agree. And after a few listens I'm pretty sure Andrew Lloyd Webber took that beggining from Pink Floyds "echoes" at about 20 minutes through the song. Echoes ,I believe was made about 10-15 years before Webber composed the Phantom stuff
@shrillz its called the overdrive note, its got a power level over 9000!! and can break through triple re-enforced plexyglass XD it takes a virgin throat and 4 lifetimes to master. plus a siup of water.
Really? This is the song for The Phantom of the Opera? I was expecting something more grand and classical for a story so old. The drums, synthesizer and guitar makes it sound like an 80's pop song.
This movie is one of my favorite! I loved the songs and the story. I sympathized with Phantom. I loved his character. THIS MOVIE IS INDEED A GREAT SUCCESS! :)
So its a pink Floyd rip off BIG DEAL, seriously its two different mediums Film and Music I think for the purpose intended this is a great song. Just saying, you people who think its important to b***h about it really get over it.
Since I get very few chances to see things on stage, this movie was my only real exposure to the story (aside from all those Sarah Brightman PBS specials in the '90s). I personally thought it was really good, since I had nothing else to judge it by. Some parts didn't work cinematically, but for the most part they did a gorgeous job, especially with the cinematography, sets, and costumes. Emmy Rossum was perfect, and Gerard Butler was epic. Not to mention Minnie Driver was absolutely hilarious.
Theme for my marching bands show this year was phantom of the opera. this was opener. Then wishing you were somehow here again, then nightmare before christmas(lol) then ending it up with music of the night! was amazing<3
I saw this on a flight home...unfortunately I`d been up for 36 hours at the time and kept passing out...goddamned jet-lag. It looked good but I can barely remember it...was the movie good?
The movie was alright, but id rather see it on stage any day! I am in love with the stage performance even if i have to go to Europe ill go see it again!!!
My main complain about this film is that they made Eric too handsome. I think it sort of ruined his image form the novel. In the novel, he wore a full mask and had the face of a skeleton, and yet, he was charming and romantic.
I cry at least like 3 times while watching this movie!!! every time!!!! The first time I was crying my eyes out... still after 20 min of watching it i was still crying... THEY MAKE THE PHANTOM SO0O0O PHANTASTIC... AHH U JUST HAVE TO LOVE HIM!!! I'M OBSESSED!!!
I must admit I don't think Gerard Butler's voice is quite beautiful enough to very well reflect the dissonance between it and his supposedly distorted face, but Christine's actress is a wonderful singer.
@emerald1188 It means that his voice isn't the best for this song. He has a good voice, I just don't think its good for this movie. I feel like he ruined the song.
@emerald1188 Gerard's voice isn't bad, but it's not singing material either. The people working on this movie thought his voice was on the mysterious, & dark level they needed.
I went and saw Phantom of the Opera at Her Majesties Royal Theatre in London and although this was the best song, I will always think Gerard Butler is the best Phantom.
They did a awesome job casting this movie... the phantom has such a voice i can get lost in so easily, i can totally see why she cant get away from him, hes so HOTT!! But Raoul is the type of guy i would date and every time the phantom got off stage i loved him more...
Want to try something really cool! Ok heres what i did, i opened up to tabs and started playing the musical version of this and the movie version at the same time to compare them. it's really interesting to see how different yet the same they are
Webber's phantom is so aesthetically appealing... I'm not quite sure Leroux (the original author) would quite approve... but it sure does ensure that the supposedly scary and deformed phantom has many fan girls! lol
@0reoK0okeez , hmm good point, maybe because she's his other half, and he shows his true side to her. His passion, so he lets the side he usually hides , bare... but only in the poster? thats what I don't get....
