  • Adrian's solo was okay, but Bernie, Mel and John did better. But regardless, this is actually a good lineup; very energetic. I wonder what "Slip Of The Tongue" would've been like with Adrian or even Vivian (or John!) on it?

  • anyone have the solo's tab?

  • talk about alot of talent!!! All on one stage!!

  • Vivian Campbell is such a great guita player!!! I can't stand Vandemberg!

  • Amazing performance!!! L O U D E R with those DEEP DEEP VOICE EMOTIONS!!!

  • Can't believe they opened for the Crue on this tour! Viv for sure held his own.

Rudy Sarzo...wow forgot all about those gay ass moves, but I bet he fucked thousands of chicks!

This was the biggest deal when it was this lineup.

  • Reb Beach + Doug Aldrich > Vivian Campbell + Adrian Vandenberg

  • @ThieleM john sykes > reb beach + doug aldrich + vivian campbell+ adrian vandenberg

  • @fanelly

    No argument here

  • wow..Adrian was garbage in this sole compared to Skyes and not close to Doug A.

  • viv plays with a feel

  • Great solo! Great song!

  • Absolutely way below Sykes level here!

  • Sykes is much better than this!

  • If I heard this I will not have hard attact! Beautiful!!!

  • vivian campbell great guitar player

  • From 7:33, the bass player is doing a Dry Hump :P

  • Vandy is amazing, but cmon, the Sykes solo kicked this versions ass.......

  • You're all right but John SYKES was the best guitarist Whitesnake ever had !!

  • @123steffff John Sykes isd one of the greatest guitarists full stop

  • Awesome!!!! Magnifico!!!!!

  • vandenberg can't play one of the greatest solos in history of rock and metal and i think cambell could play it better! john sykes was a great gitarist and better than vandenberg but the video is cool!

  • @MasterChico13 Campbell is way better than Vandember, even though I prefer Sykes, of course!

  • I saw this tour in Philly. I thought they both kicked ass. I was more of a Viv fan than Vandy. but liked them both! I was in the 10th row at the Spectrum show. They were amazing! Saw them open for Motley twice b4 they headlined! One of the best concerts ive been too! sadly, i missed the Tongue tour. The snake kick ass!

  • @Tspsoldierboy / I saw them in Richmond Va nd Viv got held up in customs with passport issues and they had to play the gig without him, just Adrian Vandenberg. I was disappointed to say the least as I was a huge Viv/ Dio fan. Saw them the next night in Roanoke and Viv was there and saw them 3 months later when they started to headline! Amazing! Saw them 3 times in 90 with Vai as well.

  • wot the fuk is that solo?......

  • vandenbergs style didn't suit whitesnake at all! both him and campbell sound out of tune every now and then, give me sykes anyday. but campbell and vand are two of my fave guitarist, though just not in this band.

  • Very heavy Uli Roth influence

  • @MetalDctr yes ULI ROTH is the best ever

  • I can't believe this Monster band opened for Motley Crue.......I know that the Crue were selling more albums but come on........Look at this line up, musically and technically they destroy the Crue...

  • David, where are the DVD s with great footage like this????!!!!!

  • OH man this is such a cheesy song. I'm not sure I agree with ALL the stage choreography here but still this would be a killer concert to have gone to. It looks like Vandenberg is playing his Peavey. I would kill for one of those, or for any of the signature guitars of the 80s guitar hero characters.

  • @alcoyot i got one Peavey Vandy in white :D

  • Sykes solo is Heart and Soul

  • I like the Adrian solo, he doesnt try to imitate somebody. And the Sykes solo istn that hard to play....(but its fuckin good too) :D

  • I just have to say something to all the guys who do not like some parts or any of these solos, Whitesnake was opening for the Crue on this tour and did not have much time for anything. I have never seen an opening act do a guitar solo before or since. And trying to compare almost any guitarist to Vai is pretty stupid! Take this for what it is. I just wish Adrian could still play. I was 18 when I saw this tour and it is still the first opener to kick the headliners ass i have seen.

  • I love Vandenberg, but this solo really sucks. Just a bunch of scales and triplets up and down, no melody or phrasing at all. Syke's solo is a masterpiece on the other hand.

  • David manages to become Plant, Rodgers and Stevie Nicks. I love Adrian.

  • @demrayhalen I don´t think so... Plant and Rodgers have never had that vocal power, range and period, and the comparison with Stevie is out of place. Greetings.

  • Great intro great solo great band

What else to say man long live Whitesnake

  • Lovely intro. Very instinctive and natural guitar playing. Does Vandenberg's wild vibrato really make him better than Campbell, no I love the contrast. I think Campbell is paying more attention to the subtle harmonics in the feedback for instance. Two different players!

Coverdale's voice sounds very 'thick' from some heavy touring, kinda like it!

  • ok? ho is ho?theguitarrists

  • @combolado Left side of the stage is Vivian Campbell, right side is Adrian Vandenberg, he plays the solo too.

  • @combolado Vandenberg is the blone

  • @combolado

from a chic...the blonde is Adrian Vandenberg...Vivian Campbell has the dark red hair....the bass player is the incredible Mr. Rudy Sarzo...Adrian walked up to me in I sat on the 10 or better center and saw these guys at least 4 times and there is NOTHING like a WHITESNAKE concert where the entire band is a hired gun and the very best at what they do.

  • In the days when I was young and beautiful and strong as a Lion.

  • adrain and vivian are 2 undertated guitar players that deserve more credit

  • All most forget how good this was.

  • I saw this tour at Irvine Meadows in CA, and I've never seen a band with that much gear..I counted 16 Marshall cabs marked A. Vandenberg, 16 marked V. Campbell and 12 bass cabs marked Sarzo before they set up...awesome.

  • That guitar solo in the beginning just blows me away. :)

  • where the fuck is John Sykes?! why did Coverdale fire him?! Sykes rules!!!!!!!

  • None of these guys compare to Sykes...

  • John Sykes and Steve Vai are the best

  • Vandenberg asolutely dominated Campbell on this tour. He playing was spot on. Then came his injured wrists. I have a Whitesnake bootleg of this tour and Vandenberg owned Campbell on the disk. But he never played on Slip of the Tomgue, which he composed all songs for.

  • @ajaxrules1975 Nobody dominated anybody. I saw 6 shows on this tour and They were a good team. Either one could have played each others parts

  • Excellent, thank you! I have this show on tape (audio), and had no idea it was filmed. David Civilised was on-form on that tour. Campbell and Vandenberg was a good combination. (Can't believe some people want to bring Big Hair back, though...)

  • Sarzo with blond hair is weird!

  • agreed! Its a GREAT time for rock right now! check out 'EUTOPIA' from the U.K and see that it is very much alive and well! ROCK ON!!

  • Vivian bloody rocks!! as well as Vandenberg.. Never seen this before. Would have been great to keep Sykes on board though. A great time for rock/metal. Since I got older I really appriciate the old classic Snake albums though with Moody/Marston..thanks for posting this.

  • man, that intro & Adje's solo were just too hot! i'm a huge Vandenberg fan & a Sykes & Vai fan as well. they all bring unique elements to the Snake. thank God for guitar!!!! lol

  • I wish Adrian played on Slip of the tongue. That would be so awesome! (No offense to Vai!)

  • who makes the guitar solo , Cambell or Vanderberg?

  • @elocrimonium Vandenberg

  • I don't see how anyone can sound bad on one of those Kramer Knightswan model guitars that Vivian is playing. I use to own two and the both were just superb instruments. Vivian is more of a 'riffmeister" and Adrian is the guitarist who plays melodic shapes well.

  • This version is pretty good like it much.

  • Обожаю рок 80х.Это видео передаёт дух того времени .Просто супер!!!!

  • best version of this music

  • Saw this tour....Adrian just blew Viv off the stage. Saw them few years later with Steve Vai as well. Adrian held his own with Steve....not many guitarist can make that claim.

  • Totally agreed. Seen every show since '87. Really liked Vivian but he was overshadowed by Vandenberg. And then AV held up fine chops-wise with Vai, even looked better by comparison because Vai's style was just so ill-fit for this band. How insane would Slip of the Tongue have been with a Sykes-Vandenberg playing and songwriting combo - are you listening, DC?!?!

  • if Adrian would have played Slip of the Tongue it could be much better than with vai-.-

  • How does Doug Aldrch compare?

  • Doug's and amazing player; but I've never seen him live.

  • @Reg197844, have you seen the late 90's stuff where Steve Farris was the other guitarist?, Adrian must've really lost it by then cause Farris hands him his ass in every bit of footage

  • well Adrian, you had good hair but you were waaayyyy below John Sorry...

  • David singing is damn great on this one!

He was in great shape on this tour.

  • any1 know where i can find a better quality version of this solo? theres vids of him doing it at different gigs but i cant find em

  • Vivian Campbell has some killer guitar work with DIO.

  • A very good solo... but I still prefer John Sykes' version, man that one was one heck of a wild solo XD

  • The guitar solo is no where near J. Sykes'. Probably Slash would play it better. Horrible... horrible.

  • Slash wouldn't play it better... he's a great player but his style is completely different... different skills. Vandenberg is much closer to Sykes, than Slash... but the truth remains, that no guitar magician can imitate another... and Vandenberg wasn't trying it, he did the song in his style and it's still great... But yes, Sykes's solo is breathtaking.

  • i think i can play better...

  • What a horrible solo. How I miss Sykes.

  • Why is he singing in a different key to the musicians!!??

  • This is ass. Just like when I saw them live. Coverdale booting Sykes was an idiotic career move. Wasted tapes on worthless albums afterwards.

  • ok I know adrian played some licks.. but man o man.. i dont remember the solo for this song sounding like that or close.. did he just make his own solo up? sheesh should have let vivian play it..

  • Hey Hoth...Go for it dude...I love your attitude...That's huge in this business...I wish you luck...GO FOR IT!!!!!!!

  • I could grab 4 friends and dominate in Asia..

  • HAHAH 7:35

  • Campbell and Vandenburg sound like they're competing to see who can sound the most like Gary Moore during the intro. And, of course, Sarzo and Aldridge, jumping at the chance to follow-up yet another rhythm section's studio work by playing it live. Didn't suck, but would have rather seen what Dunbar, Sykes and Murray could have done with these tunes live.

  • Couldn't have worded it any better...

  • Vandenberg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The best line-up in modern rock history !!

    What a performence... WOW

    Thank you Stargazer!

  • Just fantastic. Amazing band... Coverdale the best!

  • Vivian Campbell started this song! so you know!!!!

  • Sorry, I was wrong, maybe!!!

  • impressive!!

i wish david will release live dvd of the 1984-1990 period

  • Wow! I remember this tour so well. Vandenburg is very melodic. I forgot about how wonderfully he played with Whitesnake.

  • I think that was a great solo by Adrian. No one will ever match Sykes' solo, but it was tasteful and fit the song. Vai's solo on the 89-90 tour was great as well...just different interpretations. Too bad Coverdale has never released a live album from this tour. This was the band that hooked me to rock!

  • it's a great version, but sykes would've done the solo so much better than vandenburg. it was still fast as hell, but it didn't have quite the same oomph

  • breathtaking intro!

  • by far the best lineup

  • Great version!

  • mannn wheres john sykes i mean he wrote nearly every song on the 87 album he should be there.

  • this is fucking incredible..plz post more from this year!!!!

  • Thats what i'm talkin about!

  • How cool is this!!! Incredible version, never seen that one before! Amazing!
