The belief many blacks have that they are being victimized and are disadvantaged is a disempowering belief. It makes them weaker. In contrast, Caribbean blacks have imigrated into the US and kicked ass in business with less education! They don't buy into that victim mentality that you embrace. You need to wake up!
the graduation rate for african americans is so so low right now
you would think if you would want to stop racism that you would better yourself as best as you can and take personal responsibility
thus
if the african american high school graduation rate rose to say 85 percent then just maybe things would get better gradually but you are too small minded to realize what obama is trying to say
this is what you get when you dont have an education. you are small minded and have a need to blame someone. you are the reason our youth does not excel. Look at you, you are attacking one of our greatest leaders, because he described you to a tee.
I appreciate and respect your comments, but like the man in Ralph Ellison's "Invisible Man," you have to literally and figuratively take the blinders (shades) off in order to really see what is going on. Unfortunately one can not please everybody, but we need to support the person who has so much to give to this country.
I doubt that you read Carter G. Woodson's book cover to cover. Why would you want to display your ignorance so publicly? I'm a Black man, and I find you embarrassing.
You so silly. A small part on racism? A full two thirds of his speech was on racism and all the great liberal programs he was putting into place to "level the playing field". But if Tyrone's education consists of 50cent and Lil Wayne, Todd is gonna kick his ass. Hell, Todd is more likely to have read Carter G. Woodson than Tyrone.
Which is sad.
Obama spent 23 minutes trying to soften the blow, but people like you can't stand to hear anything about personal responsibilty. Why?
You seem quite intelligent but is you think that education is the problem then you might have the wool over your eyes. Obama didn't become the 1st black president by being a perpetual victim. People told him he couldn't get elected and he defied the odds. He is acknowledging racism but at the same time calling black people to action to try to defy the same odds that he faced as an African American. He is using his own story to enfranchise disaffected youth and adults. Thats inspirational!
BO talks one way to blacks, another to whites, another to our allies, and a totally different way to our enemies. He is trying to pull the wool over ALL our eyes. Most black people thought he would "pay their gas, groceries, and mortgage."
who cares what he says to white folks. What he's sayin to "us" is real true and important. We need to get up off our own asses and educate ourselves and own youth. Cut out the excuse making and foolishness. There are too many opportunities right now in this society not because of not by "white folks" or by America but our elders. All he's sayin' is we got to do for ourselves. Also if we want a better and more competitive nation America better do right by all it's people. And we can.
That guy on that VIDEO, maybe GOT OWNED COZ HE IS UNEDUCATED! how come obama been a president? coz he is EDUCATED! that guy trying to rap! fuck you, you got owned! aspiring to be lil wayne! I LOVE BARACK OBAMA!
I'll disagree with you on part of this. I believe Obama is urging the black community away from constantly thinking of itself as the perpetual victim. Sure racism exists but he is saying that tools are in place to overcome obstacles related to such prejudice. I do agree the education in predominantly black neighborhoods is to say the least garbage but so is education in rural white America. One visit to Appalachia will attest to that. Poverty = Poor Education and vice versa.
It does go back to education. Everyone has a chance. The black race is its' own worst enemy. The childrens role models are rap artist who are all about the quick money and they glorify a gangster life style. Our black children need to know it's not about "Keepin it real" or being "Hard". It is about stacking your paper the legal way and becoming a strong indivdual who has values and morals. Help your self. Do not depend on others to help you.
these thoughts are coming to you from a white man:
be educated - by whoever you choose - but be educated. think critically & collectively & you'll see the results in the silent power of the black community's ascension. the white man's insidious method has been to keep broken the cohesion in your community by any means - lotsa baby daddies in jail is just the most obvious. education, personal responsibility -- they're not ends in themselves. they're the paths to cohesion & power. take hold.
You said "there is no racism in shool." You a real nigger a good ole house nigger, you think that because you wear urban clothes your "down". Your a good old nigger a "Free sandwich, wit a purple juice type nigger. Your stupid boy.
