  • did you get the sound clip for free?

  • sounds like an MS's

  • So I finally got to hear an Exceder sound in person today and I can tell you it is extremely loud. And the strobes flash perfect. Since apparently the fire alarm went off in the second floor of the Complex I work in today. I was in an area of ASs then once the alarms sounded I went into the expansion to see if the Exceders were going off there and they were. And they were just as loud as the ASs in the 2nd floor Lobby. I plugged my fingers into my ears until I got on the elevator.

  • @MrWill1985 So I guess the Exceder sounds like a much louder NS. They installed a couple of these at my psychologist's office in Canton, MA (the rest of the building has MT-24-LSMs, and it's a Silent Knight system, formerly a Kidde system).

  • @MrWill1985 dont the elevators shut down when the alarms go off?

  • @MrMaddenman4 In our building they do not. Plus our building each floor has a separate fire alarm system which to me I am surprised the landlord never got chewed out by the fire marshall over that. Or even the fire alarm service company. BFPE. But there are smoke detectors in the elevator shafts and if they are activated the elevators are not operable.

  • Im glad I got to hear the Exceder sound so in case Im in the new area of where I work and the fire alarms go off. Even though the strobes will flash. And I suspect parts of our third floor may have them to since some modifications are bing made on our third floor as well as a suite on the 2nd floor being rented out and constructed. But I dont 100% think all signals will be replaced with the Exceder. Only signals in the areas being modified. This building does have AS, NSs, 7002s, and exceders.

  • I think Wheelock still makes the Exeder. I noticed the Safeway in Towson MD has them. I believe an electronics store in York PA has them. And I did notice one in a Jewerly store in Towson Town Center in the Baltimore area. As Towson Town Center has the Wheelock E70s and what ever signal that is that looks like a small PA speaker with a Wheelock strobe mounted to it. This store has them as well as one exeder. I dont know how they sound yet. Hopefully I wont have to know how.

  • There r exceders in my dads office

  • Sounds more like the Wheelock NS

  • nice video

  • kind of like the spectralert advances too, just probably alot quieter.

  • What is a joke?

  • The exceeder is coolio =/

  • Sorry...I made that comment long ago, and now the Exceder is my favorite alarm, so yeah....

  • our school is getting the wheelock exeder after the pool is finished they were talking about getting new fire alarms so i told them to get the wheelock exeder

  • hay can you order the exeder yet

  • No, they seem to have disappeared off of Wheelock's site for some reason.

  • do you think they will be out back on

  • @thesdx The Exceder is now posted on Wheelocks website. However the NS. And the AS interior horn strobes were discontinued and replaced with the Exceder. The area part of the office I work in is being moved to has the Exceder as the rest of the building has ASs and NSs. Which I hear are discontinued for interior

  • @whelenvortexr4 They are back on now...

  • I call this particular sound type the "screaming cricket".

  • I remember you and I were at the Aquatic Center back in the summer of '98, and the alarms, as you said, also sounded like crickets. They were MTs I believe; I also saw 7002Ts at the Aquatic Center but we couldn;t really hear them. Now the Aquatic Center has Simplex TrueAlerts

  • the tru alerts are cheap

  • Cheap? wow... they really aren't.

  • they are cheap and did i just block you because i thought i just did wheelocks are the best

  • If you had any idea how much a TrueAlert cost you wouldn't say they are cheap.

    About 90 bucks, apparently.

A new SpectrAlert Advance, PC4RH is about 50 bucks.

Wheelocks aren't the best. I do own wheelock appliances, an MT4 and an AS to be precise, and i can say that i definitely prefer my SpectrAlert Classic.

Older Faraday horns, such as the ones Siemens and Simplex rebranded are much better. Nothing spells fire like a 2901-9838 in 120bpm marchtime.

  • our school had the mt 24 lsm they are loud and good quality all those other fire alarms well screw them

  • @whelenvortexr4

Our school uses truealerts...I owulda gone with some nice MTs to if I were them, but my town realy likes truealerts and simplex devices.

  • weird and i would of gone with mts to

  • I realy like MTs...they sound gooooooood!!!!

  • especially the old vertical strobes

  • Someone went a little overboard designing those.

  • They look cool, but they must be quite a bit more expensive than an ns, even though they sound the same.

  • Well I'm glad it doesn't sound like a Spectralert Advance.

  • lol

  • hmmmm cool

  • Where did you get those clips?

  • On wheelocks website. But I doubt it sounds like the NS in real life.

  • I got them from a customer service rep through email. The Exceder clips should be on Wheelock's website soon.

  • ok, thanks

  • @coffeeandsugar20 A guy on here has one. It sounds exactly the same as the NS.

  • @Tabby266 And I made that comment... 1 year ago?

  • Where did you get the sound clips? Sounds exactly like a NS

  • I emailed Wheelock customer service, and they gave me them.
