The problem that zeebists don't seem to understand is that the Zeebo is not lacking only on the graphical department, it's games are also atrocious or really old, not to say expensive. Just because the Zeebo has terrible graphics doesn't automatically makes it's games god tier - that's just crazy.

I think this Zeebo console will make a good impression in North America but so far lets just see how good it does in Mexico because the technology used in a console of this sort is pretty much the same used on smart phones since it uses a connection to a 3G network. I think that's a huge deal compared with the PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii!!

Here in Brazil nowadays PS3, X360 and even Wii are elite consoles, but PS2, GC and X1 fit on Brazilian reality, so why change those wonderful consoles for this "expensive table mobile phone" called Zeebo?
well what i'v heard is that the target public is initially kids between 9 to 14 years old, well im 19 and i can tell i found it pretty cool i know theres a lot to improve and i believ it will, the CEOs arent stupid and theres a whole plan to make it go straight up, overpass ps2 is just step one as anyother rising enterprise it has its limitations but i like their strategy for now anyways

I'm brazilian and have to say, zeebo is a total shame to Brazil. This shit costs 500 reais (250 dollars, same price of wii) and have 3do 3d graphics, cheap controller and a unbelievable composite video connection only. Even next releases are pointless like street fighter alpha (jesus, it will look like snes version) tekken 2 (downgraded from psx version) and pac-mania, shame, shame, shame

When we are speaking in original brazilian console, we have to imagine also games produced only to that console. But Zeebo looks like a MAME console, with games made to other consoles just adapted to the Zeebo; Because of that, I told you Zeebo is just a similar console and not a Console with original titles as for example PS3.
Zeebo is not the first brazilian videogame, in each videogame generation, brazil has a alternative (clone) console to sell. For example, for NES we have a similar console called "phantom system" by Gradiente. This console used the same kind of NES cartridge
But we never had an original console before here in Brazil.
Zeebo is the first and will be remembered for this reason but it costs as much as a PS2 =(
I would love to see Zeebo as a successful console. God knows I tried to be a Zeebo fanboy. But this just TOO EXPENSIVE. It's just destined to be a failure.

Why would you buy something called a "zeebo", especially if some shitty brazilian company tells you to? The console fails even before it actually came out because it can't compete with the high-end consoles (XBOX 360 and Playstation 3) and has no novelty and creativity (Wii). Among the games to be ported to it are Need For Speed and Tekken 2 (wow). Plus brazil is a third-world country. What can you expect?

in order for it to attract its own fanboys, what it needs are Exclusives, ive looked at it on Wikipedia and the games are Sonic Advnture, NFS, RE4, Crash, i mean who would buy a console that has games that you have already played on a more recognised system. If it can have a MGS or Halo like game then i might give it a shot.. overall nice vid man!
That's my oppinion as well, D.Heart. Tectoy needs to search for Indie game creators and buy the rights of their games for Zeebo. Of course the big names of games like Namco could make exclusive games for it as well.
Take Kenta Cho's Tumiki Fighters for example. It got a Wii port (and it's called Blast Works).
Man i share your opinions, Xbox fan boys suck, they berate you so much its just very annoying, and i own a PS3 and love it, but at the same time i love Nintendo due to the fact that the nES and SNES gave me great memories, and Sega I do hope they come back on the console ind., I too have never said anything bad about 360 yet they say that just because i own a PS3 they labeled me a fanboy, ohhh man.... Why Zeebo will be successfull: 1. It will have the game developers support becouse it is not possible to buy pirate games just like Apple is having the support from musical industry with iTunes store. 2. Even with worst graphical quality than PS2 the games will be focused on fun and will be NEW. This is very important becouse old games DON'T have the same fun. 3. It's agreeing with the newest low tec concept, just like the netbooks, Wii and Flip cameras. 4. Cheaper console and games.

Hum...zeebo seems a nice idea, for me...I mean, in Brazil, a ps3, wii or xbox 360 may vary between the 1000 and 2000 reais prices, which is equivalent to, idk, 600 to 1200 dollar (the ps3 being the most expensive, of course), and I have friends who still play PS1 because they can't afford that much. And people like me who have the PS2 (at least I've got a good computer, thank god) have to buy pirated games because original ps2 games can reach more than 100 dollars, and that sucks. :)
you aint the only one, I live in Peru and the systems are very expensive here around $1000 dollars and the games are $100-150....its crazy i get pirated games for ps2 and gc....i have ps3 and wii but i get my games in US since they are cheaper.....well Zeebo looks alright, i saw the site and says it would have all the latest games, but who knows it might suck.

I'm from Brazil and ilegal software and games as well are huge problems for all people involved in this business. Also taxes and dollar rate make nextgen videogame impossible to be bought (PS3= U$1200). We are aware Zeebo is far from being good enough to fight against nextgen but emerging economies (like Brazil, China, India, African countries) are gradually demanding new products and technologies and companies are looking at theses niches as great opportunities (see Motorola F1). For an example even though fagrosoft is most richest company in the whole world they still haven't managed to create a working operating system since 3.11.
They got shitloads of cash and they could do it easily if they wanted to but they just create these month products instead.
Zeebo is not tied in for the console wars it has hardwares like the PS2 what is sad is that most of its games like CrashKart and Quake are for the Iphone/Ipod touch basically its a console for customers that has no cash :D

Not meant to compete - it's meant to bring gaming to developing countries where they can't afford xbox, ps3, wii. Not sure if it will even come to the developed world. The games are 3G downloadable only, which means zeebo will have to go through a set up phase with a telco in every country. Which I think will be its downfall.

The technical specs are not as cool as I think that they should be for nowadays, and the fact that the resolution is cranked at 640x480 with 4:3 proportion makes me sad while thinking how is this thing going to sell in a time where widescreen is a mainstream solution ..

Well, In Brazil, widescreen is definitely not mainstream, but is I think if they are planing on developing it only for the third world, they'll be instantaneously loosing its market.
i like the 360 more than ps3 but i am not a fanboy, you should also blame ps3 fanboys, actually i like all the consoles, i think we should wait and see what happens with this new console
besides what other people from my country have said, we're not a hardcore gamer country. very few people has the wii, os ps3 or xbox360. but the ps2 is huge in here (mainly imports, from paraguay)(blame taxes). kids love Winning Eleven.
well... to be fair I live in Brazil, and yes, the mega drive and master system are re-released from time to time (close to each 5 or 6 years). the zeebo is actually lauching some good old titles, like sonic adventure, crazy taxi, virtua tennis, etc... those were great DC games, the DC itself being largely underrated system.
but...in brazil....is still expensive a console like this. to cost 600 reais...but they will drop when the desperation of selling comes... lol.... cut the price by half... and its gonna be huge.... atari is rolling in its tomb...

There is still the megadrives ... recently launched the Megadrive 3, tecToy, you should have seen, and also has the 8-bit Nintendo, even sell it at that .. not to mention in a reformulated version of game gear, and super nintendo. No note of my English translator ... I think the Zeebo is a cheap version of the Dreamcast, only this ... I have one 8-bit Nintendo :P, coast U$50 ...

I'm brazilian and have to say, zeebo is a total shame to Brazil. This shit costs 500 reais (250 dollars, same price of wii) and have 3do 3d graphics, cheap controller and a unbelievable composite video connection only. Even next releases are pointless like street fighter alpha (jesus, it will look like snes version) tekken 2 (downgraded from psx version) and pac-mania, shame, shame, shame

When we are speaking in original brazilian console, we have to imagine also games produced only to that console. But Zeebo looks like a MAME console, with games made to other consoles just adapted to the Zeebo; Because of that, I told you Zeebo is just a similar console and not a Console with original titles as for example PS3.

Why would you buy something called a "zeebo", especially if some shitty brazilian company tells you to? The console fails even before it actually came out because it can't compete with the high-end consoles (XBOX 360 and Playstation 3) and has no novelty and creativity (Wii). Among the games to be ported to it are Need For Speed and Tekken 2 (wow). Plus brazil is a third-world country. What can you expect?

in order for it to attract its own fanboys, what it needs are Exclusives, ive looked at it on Wikipedia and the games are Sonic Advnture, NFS, RE4, Crash, i mean who would buy a console that has games that you have already played on a more recognised system. That's my oppinion as well, D.Heart. Tectoy needs to search for Indie game creators and buy the rights of their games for Zeebo. Of course the big names of games like Namco could make exclusive games for it as well.
Take Kenta Cho's Tumiki Fighters for example. It got a Wii port (and it's called Blast Works).

Why Zeebo will be successfull: 1. It will have the game developers support becouse it is not possible to buy pirate games just like Apple is having the support from musical industry with iTunes store. 2. Even with worst graphical quality than PS2 the games will be focused on fun and will be NEW. This is very important becouse old games DON'T have the same fun. 3. It's agreeing with the newest low tec concept, just like the netbooks, Wii and Flip cameras. 4. Cheaper console and games.

Hum...zeebo seems a nice idea, for me...I mean, in Brazil, a ps3, wii or xbox 360 may vary between the 1000 and 2000 reais prices, which is equivalent to, idk, 600 to 1200 dollar (the ps3 being the most expensive, of course), and I have friends who still play PS1 because they can't afford that much. And people like me who have the PS2 (at least I've got a good computer, thank god) have to buy pirated games because original ps2 games can reach more than 100 dollars, and that sucks. :)

I'm from Brazil and ilegal software and games as well are huge problems for all people involved in this business. Also taxes and dollar rate make nextgen videogame impossible to be bought (PS3= U$1200). We are aware Zeebo is far from being good enough to fight against nextgen but emerging economies (like Brazil, China, India, African countries) are gradually demanding new products and technologies and companies are looking at theses niches as great opportunities (see Motorola F1). Not meant to compete - it's meant to bring gaming to developing countries where they can't afford xbox, ps3, wii. Not sure if it will even come to the developed world. The games are 3G downloadable only, which means zeebo will have to go through a set up phase with a telco in every country. Which I think will be its downfall.

Look...I really don't know how it's going to be.
I know TecToy from about 15 years ago, and I know they can do good things, and sometimes... things that simply do not sell.
I hope that Zeebo is a good one.
The technical specs are not as cool as I think that they should be for nowadays, and the fact that the resolution is cranked at 640x480 with 4:3 proportion makes me sad while thinking how is this thing going to sell in a time where widescreen is a mainstream solution ..

besides what other people from my country have said, we're not a hardcore gamer country. very few people has the wii, os ps3 or xbox360. but the ps2 is huge in here (mainly imports, from paraguay)(blame taxes). kids love Winning Eleven.

well... to be fair I live in Brazil, and yes, the mega drive and master system are re-released from time to time (close to each 5 or 6 years). the zeebo is actually lauching some good old titles, like sonic adventure, crazy taxi, virtua tennis, etc... those were great DC games, the DC itself being largely underrated system.
i'll continue, it's a big comment.

this console is supposed to be popular its not supposed to be daring.... its for children and for retro guys.... mixing many consoles in one....thats it...no big deal....im brazilian...and im aware... we're not japan...we dont have the brain and thats ok.... but i bet on this thing... its gonna be popular cuz its gonna be cheap.... and they made it to fight piracy...so...u can only buy zeebo games online...via 3g...which is kinda new..and the games in brazil are goin to cost..around 5 dolla each

to create somethin would me make me feel proud.... but zeebo is a copycat...even the design is like Wii....the games are old....and the price is high.... do u want me to be patriot for that? i just cant..... brazil should stick to creation.... we are a very creative ppl.... so....why to waste time cpyin somethin....the only innovative thing about zeebo is the 3g connection.... sorry to dissapoint u...tec toy.... dissapointed me .... live with it

" are you CRAZYY??? i dont think so. besides usa and japan brazil is producing a video game .. and you say we dont have brain? between more than 200 countries we are at side with usa and japan which produces video games. tectoy stayed lots of time without produce a video game and is starting now, so its obvious it can take a while to get quality sony and microsoft produce video games for years, they have a good KNOW HOW.

There is still the megadrives ... recently launched the Megadrive 3, tecToy, you should have seen, and also has the 8-bit Nintendo, even sell it at that .. not to mention in a reformulated version of game gear, and super nintendo. No note of my English translator ... I think the Zeebo is a cheap version of the Dreamcast, only this ... I have one 8-bit Nintendo :P, coast U$50 ...
