Marriage is another story, because in those days marriages were pre-arranged. So technically you could be arranged to marry a 2 year old. Muslims, before each battle, asked for the other side to surrender, and if they won, they did not went around massacring everyone (Crusaders, Jerusalem, 11Cent...) and burning everything and everyone (Crusaders, Byzantium, 13cent...) nor they went seeking gold, gold and more gold.
